The Dobsons left GH by their choice. Her parents told her constantly that she was not a competent writer & that no one else but them would pay her to write a show for them. And, while Bridget & Jerome were at GH they had to write what Frank & Doris said. I forget the exact circumstances but Bridget was in a one-on-one setting with whoever was in charge then on P&G soaps. And she said to them, did they remember her, that she was the girl who did thus and so at such and such a meeting. And, they said,of course they knew who she was, that they had been watching her & her progress & wondered if she was ready for her own show yet or whether she just wanted to stay at GH. Well, Bridget was flabbergasted that anyone, unknown to her, was following her progress, and that they thought she could be a HW on her own. And they interrupted her thoughts to say that of course it was possible that she might not want to be a HW, preferring to write dialog, for example. Finally, she managed to find her voice & express that she would love to HW for a P&G soap. And that is how she got the first HW job for herself & Jerome out from under Frank & Doris's thumb! Frank & Doris were truly horrible to Bridget. They never watched her work. They said they knew if they saw her work, poor as it was, that they would be disappointed & they didn't want that. I'm sorry to have gotten a bit off of GH.

It is whatever it is to whomever. Me, I didn't like a contract role being given to Steve Burton. There were other people I'd have preferred to see in the DAYS cast. So, I certainly didn't want him to have a second year. So, me, I was pleased with her decision. You, anyone else, they may have a totally different opinion, which is fine.

Oh, sorry. Got my timing turned completely around. Thanks for the heads up. Still, my point was that ABC did have concern about their whole lineup, during this timeframe. They were not just somehow picking on GH. They had legitimate concerns.

It was Janet who decided not to give Steve Burton another contract. It was his expectation that he would be offered a second year. Alarr hired him; Janet fired him. That may be the only thing any of us knows that she has done, but, it is ONE thing.

As we know Frank cannot keep his hands out of the writing. GH has had EPs like that before. JFP comes to mind. Interesting idea about having a story generator. I wish someone would sit Frank down & have that hart to heart. However, I think GH could stagger on this way for many years. I disagree that the show approaches a danger zone. That is one of the reasons I fear the status quo will continue to be. Sigh. Hard agree.

I believe before John posted the item you quoted that someone posted that he is a gay actor & that he was previously unknown to be so, so possibly "closeted", etc. The posts are there to read for yourself. But, to a large degree the topic has evolved into being 'gays on soaps'.

Also prior to paying attention to GH they'd had Babbin & Arley at AMC & OLTL. Just not as dire!!!

Tina Sloan talked awhile back about working with Joel. (Would that have been SOMERSET?) Anyway, positively glowing remarks. A very good friend from AW, one of our cadre of "Last Gaspers", Edie Silverburg, since deceased, lived on Long Island next door to where Joel grew up. She had such wonderful stories of his growing up, as a young man, beginning his career. Someone, I don't know who, talked about a day at work when he said he had discovered a lump in his stomach. That was a very bad day. And, yes, so glad the Dobsons were there at the end.

If only we could count on the show to know things!!!! Sadly, we cannot.

To me today was just so .... meh. Anti-climactic doesn't begin to describe what was wrong with today!!!! That was not pay-off, not in the way I needed it to be. So, basically, Konstantin was caught by cheating.

I think he definitely has his taste, and I think he excels at "playing the game". I'm just of the opinion that he is playing a game unlike the game we want him to play!!! I believe he is checking off boxes, yes, like budget, sets, new sets, best looking sets, wins sweeps some of the time, cast of thousands, wins lots of Emmys, and we are saying, okay, but, what about stakes, heart, pay-off, balance, hitting all the feels, etc.

Loved Joel Crothers. He was on so many shows!

And, at one point ATWT was of course #1 but AW was #2 & generally ABC was mid-pack to below midpoint.

Now, he's going to be a Junior & Joss & Trina will be seniors & that will work. Natalia, I've come to the conclusion that Natalia is going to show us all why PRIDE is needed. I mean, this woman, is so much of a bigot & so anti-love, anti-romance, so audacious, so confident & I cannot wait for her to have to climb down offa that pedestal!!! After her big fall, we will see if she comes around or is useless. Pikeman, gotta be July sweeps. Finn, surely is outta there by week after next, latest.
