David Frum said it best, "When highly committed parties strongly believe in things that they cannot achieve democratically, they don’t give up on their beliefs — they give up on democracy." The Republican Party no longer believes in democracy, the Constitution, or the rule of law. They are actively working against this country, many of them with the backing and blessing of a hostile foreign power.

In this case, support would mean taking steps to get him hospitalized. At this point even without the politics I think there's a decent case for civil committal. But perhaps all we can do is wait for him to harm himself. The people I'm really worried for are his kids.

As godawful as it is, I'm hoping that it will help other people who may not know what untreated bipolar disorder looks like.

Her son joined Twitter just to rebuke her post. It's a good example of how easily these people will lie about anything including their own family.

As awful as this is - and it truly, truly is - this will help us with turnout in November.

That's because they are abusers. The GOP is the party of abuse. Men, women, children, animals, the environment, anyone or anything they can debase they will do it.

Very likely but there is one thing that's different about this. The American Bar Association, the Jesuits, Yale Law School (Kavanaugh's own alma mater), the National Council of Churches, more than 1,700 law professors across the country, and now even a former SCOTUS justice all have come out against Kavanaugh in one form or another and yet, the GOP has told them all to [!@#$%^&*] off. They've disrespected a lot of people on their own side. These aren't liberals. These are people from across the political spectrum. Sexual assault allegations aside, his performance in the hearing was a dealbreaker for a lot of people.

There's a pretty sizeable crowd at the Senate building.

Yeah, somebody I follow on Twitter (and subsequently have muted) keeps swearing up and down that the Dems are driving never-Trumpers back to the GOP. The truth is that never-Trumpers are still Republicans. They like the policies. They just want them with a little more finesse.

I want Oprah or Beyonce to pay off Abrams debt like somebody paid off Kavanaugh's. It will be just another way to energize the base.

Winger? That's a deep cut, man. Well done.

Dear Lord. It makes me sick to see how many women have had to open a vein just to try to get through to the sociopathic GOP.

I suspect a few have. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that the SCO is on it though. Remember Kavanaugh clerked for Anthony Kennedy. Kennedy wanted him added to the short list for SCOTUS and Kennedy's son works for Deutche Bank and Deutche Bank has a long history of loaning Trump money. (Yes, I do have my own little mental wall of crazy when it comes to the Mueller investigation.)

I know it's fanfiction but I choosing to believe that Mueller's office has dirt on Kavanaugh and just leaked some of it to Flake. For all the discussion about sexual assault, I've felt all through this that looking into whoever paid off his debt was the key to taking him down.

I'll be honest, more and more I think this ends with violence. Not the Kavanaugh situation in particular but just the dismantling of our democracy. This country can't go on like this. We weren't built for minority rule.

I think that Kavanaugh is drunk.

Megyn Kelly is the worst kind of gutter trash. She was assaulted by Ailes and almost poisoned by Trump and still she's carrying water for predators. As for worrying about Dem nominees, the truth is Dems vet our candidates better. The worst thing they could find about Sonia Sotomayor was her wise Latina comment. These people are disgusting and it's become clear to me that Lindsey Graham is pretty much in the process of having a nervous breakdown. Since @Khan likes his soap references, I feel like Graham is turning into Roxie Shayne at the end of Johnny Bauer's illness. I wouldn't be surprised if he launched himself out the window.

Avenatti's a famewhore but I suspect the delay here was more about getting her prepped and on the record.

Avenatti lost me when he started talking about running for president. If he would stick to being a lawyer I'd be fine with him but he's out here ratfucking politics for his own ego.

Yep. That was me and from what I'm seeing that's still the case. Also, apparently part of Manafort's deal was protection for his wife and kids. If he accepts a pardon, that all goes away.

He could though depending on who the competition is. Look at the Maryland governors race. Ben Jealous is polling behind Larry Hogan by double digits.

Some folks are only gonna learn the hard way: #ETTD (Everything Trump touches dies). This is one time I've got to agree with Carl. I'm seeing too much of this sort of thing from white journalbros. They just keep telling on themselves.

What's amazing is that Kavanaugh's defenders have claimed that Ford is smearing an innocent man with false allegations so in order to defend him they...smear an innocent man with false allegations, essentially using the "all white people look alike" approach.
