  1. I don't think it was too bad, but you sort of have to like The WB shows of that era to enjoy it. I could imagine it not doing much for those who are just strictly fans of Dark Shadows. It certainly would've paired ok with Charmed at the time.
  2. Garcelle lived through Models Inc., including one of the hookiest bulimia storylines on television. Why should this show be an issue for her?
  3. Did we know that the WB Dark Shadows pilot is finally floating around online? I haven't had time to watch it yet so I'm not sure if this is it, but it does seem like it. I've been wanting to see this since it was originally rejected and considering it's been shown at fan events I've always been shocked it never seemed to leak online.
  4. The odd thing is that I think most of the first few years of B&B is actually digitalised at this point - Viaplay here used to at least have classic Bold and Beautiful episodes from the early years streaming for a while. So I just think they're sitting there waiting to be exploited.
  5. Bless her. I really wish she'd stay away from the fillers, but considering the massive mental health crisis she's gone through she doesn't look bad.
  6. If you compare the revamp of CPW to other 90s prime time soaps then it's not too bad, however, when you compare its former self then it's highly disappointing especially when you see how they're wasting/writing out almost all of the younger cast. The Darren Star created Central Park West was sleek, sexy and cool, while the Marchetta-led CPW was reheated Dynasty scripts adjusted slightly for the 90s. Carrie blowing cigarette smoke on Stephanie's warderobe while being given a tour of her apartment is still one of my favourite bitchy things to do. Some of these days I must take up smoking in order to do so if I ever get an invitation to my favourite enemies apartment. If it's true that the Linda / Allen's "divorce trial of the century" was going to be the umbrella story in part II of the original season then I feel we were robbed.
  7. Re: the Alison / Allison debate, I was listening to a Melrose podcast and saw this: 'tis Alison (but you already knew that).
  8. It's such a shame 13 Bourbon St. never surfaced - it would've been interesting to see what it would've done, but I guess both Melrose Place and Beverly Hills 90210 had started their declines back then. Still, I believe a pilot was shot and I'd kill to see it.
  9. Which was never true, at least episodic salaries. She got in the £100k range per episode (which was huge back then and still is today of course), but at the same time nowhere near producing a pilot. With that said, since Melrose pulling out 32-34 episodes per season that was still 3-4 million per season to Heather alone.
  10. I think the reason they might not reach out to ask her is because she might be enthusiastic about doing something, but they know that she's not really well enough. As awful as it is to say this, but going by her appearances and videos it doesn't seem like she would be able to work, but I'm not sure she realises that herself.
  11. Exactly and the key word is INTERACTION. In seasons 4-6 everyone became weirdly islanded and wouldn't interact outside their storylines. In season 7 everyone felt intertwined. No, it wasn't perfect but at the same time it was a major improvement (similar to Dynasty's season 9) and the show felt engaging again. It shouldn't have ended over 90210 which was trash at the time. Damn you Tori!!!!!
  12. Actually, Aaron Spelling nixed her cameo, citing it as "stupid". She didn't want a speaking part and was only going to be seen briefly in the bar scene in the background where Eve tries to run down Amanda and Peter.
  13. Jake did have a happy ending though - leaving to live with his kid and the mother in the middle of nowhere, supposedly raising a family. I will always advocate that Billy's last scene should've been knocking at a door in Atlanta and a blonde woman opening (unless they could get Courtney to do a cameo).
  14. It certainly could've worked after the Shelley mess and Jake getting into trouble with a loan shark. Kimberly was, erm, resourceful enough to deal with such things.
  15. Watching 4.12 and again, the unexplored relationship of Kimberly / Jake presents itself with her visiting Shooters during her sex kitten phase. Again, were they screen testing them? Was it a direction they were thinking about going in?
  16. I think it's also on paper that the pairing should've worked - I mean, they even flirted with it in season one, it's also a classic archetype of the good girl / bad boy pairing. Since Melrose was a soap, there was a lot of things that could be mined from reactions of the other residents, especially with Jake being the neighbourhood male slut. But somehow they managed to completely wreck it and just make it worse as time went on, especially after Jane left. Then again, I think once the writers knew both Grant and Courtney were likely leaving then they just lost interest in trying to make it work.
  17. Guess which couple got the honor of making TVLine's worst couples ever list? https://tvline.com/gallery/worst-tv-couples-photos/worst-tv-couples-the-mindy-project/
  18. OMG, I always forget about Kimberly's "apology" in 4x07 - it's the best! 🤣
  19. "The way I see, even if you *did* murder that woman it's not as if though you're serial killer! Anyway, be seeing you two" *Amanda leaves, while Jo & Matt looks confused* 🤣
  20. IIRC, Darren officially left the show at episode 100 and left with an outline after that to follow for half of the season. Watching 4x02 right now and one thing that stands out to me is how at this point they still had proper group interaction scenes - like most of the residents being at Shooters hanging out, even adding in a brief interaction between Jane and Brooke (!); it still feels like an ensemble show. Gradually throughout the season characters start becoming increasingly islanded from I can remember, even before the obvious outline ended. As you said, South & co probably had an idea where to go storylinewise, but executionwise it started lacking even with Stars outline. Brooke was terribly mishandled - here more than ever it really does seem like she was more like a Melissa-from-Falcon-Crest-archetype of a spoiled rich girl. She easily could've been a "next generation" character, so I'm not looking forward to her being increasingly turned into a screeching harpy.
  21. I love how Dominique isn't worthless in this and that they're actually making the most of her. Bravo nuDynasty writers!
  22. Another relationship I felt was a bit wasted - I loved their brief interaction in season 2 when Jo noticed that Sydney was all of a sudden flush with cash from hooking and not buying into her story about being a soopah model.
  23. Someone did point out once that after 4.15 (the winter finale with the Christmas party where Jane has a stroke) the show just starts treading water and nothing much really happens. Having re-watched it a while ago I tend agree with that - I think Darren probably did help craft the season until then more or less. After that, Brooke basically becomes a screeching harpy until they kill her off in a panic mode and of course the Jane / Sydney / Michael / Kimberly storyline goes around in circles.
  24. Since Knots Landing was written before Dallas, my theory about Kenny and Ginger is that they were the original Val & Gary - ie young new couple who were supposed to act as our way into the cul de sac. Once of course CBS greenlit it as a Dallas spin-off David Jacobs just added Val and Gary, but didn't lift out his original newly wed couple Ginger and Kenny from the script and they sort of became mostly obsolete as a result.
  25. Yeah, that's a fairly good guess at where they would've ended it (at 3:06) as it would've left all the characters down a la the Dynasty massacre. I think the shot of Sydney/Laura a few seconds after that was clearly shot when she had gotten a new hairstyle. I feel like they might've had Amanda being thrown down the stairs and then the shot of the building burning at circa 3:18 as the actual fade out.
