  1. I have not seen the clip, but I do recall past discussion that an actress who appeared on The Doctors played a woman who caused trouble for Miles. Billie Allen, who played Ada Chandler #1 when the show was on CBS, has passed away. I will post an obituary later.
  2. Actor Wayne Rogers, who played a role on Search for Tomorrow, has passed away. I will post an obituary later.
  3. Erik Rhodes was also on The Guiding Light (having replaced Don Scardino) and also on the Califoria-based serial General Hospital. Eleanor Phelps also appeared on All My Children (I think that she played the aunt of Mary Fickett.) James Ray was on The Edge of Night (as the ex-husband of Millette Alexander) and on another show (possibly Dark Shadows?). Back to Eleanor Phelps: Mary Fickett had to miss a Christmas or Christmas Eve episode and was replaced by Willi Burke (or Willi Apell), who was the actress who had replaced Barbara Britton on One Life to Live after Miss Britton's death. (I think that she was also a replacement on Love of Life.) Shortly after this, Mary Fickett was written off All My Children for a week or two. It was said that her character was away taking care of a sick aunt. After Miss Fickett's return, Eleanor Phelps came to Pine Valley for awhile as the aunt. (I never had thought about this, but this could have been part of a plan to take the place of Kay Campbell's character (Kate Martin) after the death of Miss Campbell.) I don't think that Miss Phelps had much warmth, as Miss Campbell did.
  4. When Sharon Gabbet was playing Melinda, she had no mental breakdown, as an earlier poster correctly posted. However, after she claimed to have travelled through time (which she had), she was accused of one and hospitalized or institutionalized.
  5. Actress and singer (musical star) Patricia Elliott (Rene #2) has passed away. She had cancer. I wlll try to post an obiturary later.
  6. Robert Loggia was the second actor to portray Frank Carver in 1972. He has passed away. I hope to post an obituary later.
  7. Robert Loggia was one of the actor who portrayed Dr.Tony Vincente (the third one) in 1973. He has passed away. I hope to post an obituary later.
  8. I understand that actor David Canary (Stuart and Adam) has passed away.
  9. Susan MacDonald was the SECOND actrss to play Jinx Avery Malloy, not the first. Another actress who appeared on both The Edge of Night and Somerset was the late Lois Kibbee. She began as Geraldine on The Edge of Night, then played Elizabeth on Somerset, and then returned to The Edge of Night. (and was on One Life to Live before she died) Also, Lois Smith was on both shows.
  10. Are you sure that it was Randy Robbins on Where the Heart Is? I had thought that it was Rex Robbins, who I know did appear on that show. Later (toward the end of the show's run), Mr. Robbins substituted for David O'Brien as Dr. Steve Aldrich on The Doctors. A few more substitutions have been: Cynthia Belgrave (substituting for Lillian Hayman) as Sadie Gray on One Life to Live. Nancy Frangione substituting for Andrea Evans as Tina on One Life to Live. Justin Dees substituting for Gerald Anthony as Marco Dane on One Life to Live. Ellen Barber substitution for Claire Mallis (I think, although it could have been Robin Strasser) as Dr. Dorian Lord on One Life to Live. Allan Manson substituting for Henderson Forsythe as Dr. David Stewart on As the World Turns. Judith Barcroft and Jada Rowland substituted for Marie Masters on As the World Turns. (Jada Rowland had earlier played the role full-time.) Delphi Herrington substitution for Judith Barcroft on Ryan's Hope. (The character was named Barbara.) Willie Apel substituted for both Barbara Britton as Fran Gordon on One Life to Live and for Mary Fickett as Ruth Martin, R. N. on All My Children.
  11. I have read that both television actresses Lee Lawson (Love of Life, One Life to Live) and Lydia Bruce (The Doctors) were actresses in radio soap operas. Which roles and shows were played by them. I also understand that actress Grace Matthews (Claudia Dillman on The Guiding Light) was a radio actress. What roles on what shows were played by her? Was Lois Holmes, who created the role of Marion Conway on The Guiding Light, on any radio serials?
  12. I understand that actor Nathiael Marston, who was an actor on One Life to Live for several years, has had a very serious automobile accident. I am sure that prayer is in order (if what I read was true).
  13. I am wondering, this morning, about a certain performer - Humbert Allen Astredo. I know that he was on MANY soap operas. What do you have listed as the shows on which he has appeared?
  14. I had not realized that she had played a role on Bright Promise.
  15. Fran Carlon appeared on As the World Turns and The Hamptons. Ronald Dawson appeared on All My Chldren. Leslie Barrett appeared on Dark Shadows. (His wife, Ruth Livingston appeared on All My Children.) Patricia Bosworth appeared on The Edge of Night. Virginia Vincent was on both Eight Is Enough and Peyton Place. These performers may have appeared on other programs also. Those are just some of the ones that I know of, offhand.
  16. My understanding is that they replaced Stephanie Winters as Julie with Lauren Holly in an effort to age the character.
  17. NBC did NOT cancel Search for Tomorrow. In fact, they wanted it to continue for a few more months until they had a suitable replacement show for the daytime schedule. It was Procter and Gamble which decided that they did not want to begin 1987 in the red. They felt the cancellation would solve that problem, and it was they they refused NBC's request to continue the show until NBC was satisfied with the show to replace it. I tried to delete the above post, but I was unable to do so. I apologize. I thought you were talking about the NBC cancellation.
  18. Referring to the All My Children clip above (from 1992), I had only remembered Mimi as a police officer, not as an employee of Dimitri's.
  19. Thank you, Slick. That's sound right, except that I had forgotten that Clem and Caroline had been friends. Also, I want to correct that information that I posted about Love Is a Many Splendored Thing. The young actor was Patricia Benoit's grandson, and he played Billy Garrison (if I am not mistaken).
  20. I have two questions about characters and performers: 1. Paul Larson, the late husband of actress Eileen Letchworth (Love of Life, All My Children), played a character on One Life to Live (around 1968, I think) named Ernie. I was wondering who Ernie was. He may have been Niki's bartending friend. 2. Does anyone have an idea about who played Bernice? Bernice was the girlfriend of Josh Hall.
  21. I cannot remember who she played on Love Is a Many Splendored Thing, but I do know that one of the little girl actress (very young) was the granddaughter of Patricia Benoit (Follow Your Heart, As the World Turns, Mr. Peepers). Slick, I want to inquire about a character and performer about whom I had forgotten until this morning. This was on All My Children. The character was an African-American who was a co-worker and a friend to Philip Brent when Phil was working as a U. S. Park Ranger. I know that he appeared at Phil's funeral. I am thinking that the show tried to keep him following the funeral, but there was really nothing that the show could do to tie him to the other storylines. Do you know the name of this character, or who played him? It seems to me that they could have made this man the husband of Caroline. When Caroline was introduced, she was a Viet Nam widow, but I think that having her first husband be this character would have made as much sense.
  22. Above, actress Gertrude Werner is mentioned. On television, she played Claire Lowell Cassen Shea on As the World Turns and Mrs. Porter (an early character) on Love Is a Many Splendored Thing. I learned last week that she was married to actor Carl Frank, who I am sure acted on many radio serials. On television, he was the original Bill Marceau on The Edge of Night.
  23. Willie Aames, of course, was later on ABC as Robbie Hamlin on Edge of Night.
  24. Yes, I believe it is Mr. Goodart. His identity is more visable in the opening seconds of the commercial. That actress looks familiar also. At first, I thought maybe it was Jennier Harmon, then Kristen Meadows. I do not think it is either of them, but she still looks familiar. Can anyone identify her?
  25. I did not want to cause any confusion. I guess my memory played a fall trick on me.
