Agnes Nixon's Erica Kane
Are you referring to Brooke English? I only can remember that Brooke married Tom Cudahy and Adam Chandler.

This perfomer would have been good in that role
I mentioned about that I felt that the late Richard Borg would have been a suitable replacement in the Steve Guthrie role on The Edge of Night. Another suitable person for that role would have been soap hopper Ted LePlatt. I mentioned about that I felt that the late Richard Borg would have been a suitable replacement in the Steve Guthrie role on The Edge of Night. Another suitable person for that role would have been soap hopper Ted LePlatt. I admit that Mr. LePlatt was probably taller then Mr. Albee, who did play Steve on The Edge of Night.

Recasts on shows: good, bad, in between
Ms. Gabet would have been good in the role.

If Denny Albee had never been cast as Steve Guthrie on The Edge of Night, the late Richard Borg would have been very good in that role. In the same vein, Mr. Borg would have been a good replacement as Steve after the dismissal of Mr. Guthrie in that role. Steve Gutherie was a character who definitely should have been recast as opposed to being written off the program! (I do not know if Mr. Borg was on The Doctors at the time.)

Edge of Night (EON) (No spoilers please)
The above episode had two of my very favorite actress from The Edge of Night, Frances Fisher (Deborah) and Polly Adams (Carole). I am also a fan of Denny Albee (Steve) and Joe Lambie (Logan #1).

One Life to Live Tribute Thread
When Cassie and Rob first met and their storyline began, which actress (Cusi Cram or Ava Haddad) was playing Cassie? I really liked Ted Marceaux as Rob. I like Mark Arnold (Rob #2), but I think that Mr. Marceaux was better. I have been suprised that his career has not been bigger since leaving One Life to Live.

Recasts on shows: good, bad, in between
Again, I personally think that Another World did something amazing in hiring Susan Harney to replace Jacqueline Courtney in the role of Alice. One actress who could have played the role was Judith Light (Karen #2 on One Life to Live) but I would not have wanted her to change looks. I also think that Ms. Light would have played Alice her own way, and the viewers would have had to adjust or stopped watching the program. The only veteran that I would have considered for the role was Leigh Lassen/Natalie Isreal (Search for Tomorrow). Ms. Lassen stepped into a mulit-recast role successfully. And, Ms. Light replaced Kathryn Breech quite successfully!

I think that one recast that was atrocious was the casting of Renee Jarrett as Phoebe Smith on The Edge of Night. Had she not been a replacement in the role would probably have been better. But she was no match for the original Phoebe, the late Heidi Vaughn.

The New York Times had published an artcle about lighter-skinned African American performers. Ellen Holly responded with a letter to the editor about the scarcity of roles. Agnes Nixon read it and asked to meet Ms. Holly. Ms Nixon also had a servant named Sadie, and she named Lillian Hayman's character after her servant

I did not watch Joel Higgins on Search for Tomorrow. I do remember when Wanda's brother appeared on One Life to Live. I had realized that Joel Higgins had played the role.

Texas! Discussion Thread
This was the first daytime serial to premiere as an hour lengthed show. All of the earlier shows which were an hour in lenth had begun as either thirty-minute shows or fifteen-minuters. The hour long shows had larger cast and more storylines, and I suspect that the producers wanted a lot of storylines to fill the full hour.

"Secret Storm" memories.
Mr. Barrow played two roles on The Secret Storm. I do not know the name of his first character, but he was a college president. Later, he returned to the show to play a man who eventually became a candidate for Governor, Dan Kincaid. Dan was the son of Kevin Kincaid. He marreid Belle Clemons Britton. Dan also had another son (race driver Robert Landers), and I am pretty sure that Dan had not known about Robert. (Robert and Belle later had an affair, but Robert actually loved Joanna, the ward of Belle). I (and probably many others) consider Dan the signature role of Bernard Barrow. Dan was significantly different from Johnny on Ryan's Hope. Mr. Barrow (in between these roles) played District Attorney Ira Gideon on The Edge of Night. And that role too was significantly different from Johnny. He also played roles on Where the Heart Is and I think Love of Life. I also saw him on The Doctors when the reruns first began. (He was a television news reporter.)

I always have wondered (going back to the 1980s) why Wisner Washam was not hired to write this show, especially following the departure of co-creator Doug Marland.

"Secret Storm" memories.
More on Jada Rowland: Ms. Rowland was on The Secret Storm from its very beginning in 1954. She left the show three different times and was on the show when it left the air in 1974.es Ms.Rowland first left the show in the 1960s. The role was recast twice. Both June Carter (who, at one time, had played Cookie on The Edge of Night) and Beverly Lunsford (who later moved to California and became an actress on various primetime episodic television programs) played the role of Amy. Ms. Rowland returned probably in 1961 or 1962. The character of Amy was involved with her first husband Kip Rysdale and later with Professor Paul Britton. After she and Paul were married, they were written off the show. It was during that time that she played Dr, Susan Burke Stewart on As the World Turns. Nicholas Coster (Paul) played John Eldridge on borh Our Private World and (after its cancellation) and As the World Turns. Both Ms. Rowland and Mr. Coster were asked to return to The Secret Storm. I know that they were back by 1967 (Thay is when I began watching the show. Mr. Coster left the show, and his replacemetns were Conard Fowlkes and Linden Chiles before the character was again written off the show. Around 1969, Ms. Rowland left the show on a leave to appear in the premiere cast of PBS's Sesame Street. I think that her character was named "Jeanie." At some time, she was also in on the stage as a puppeteer. She then left the show in the show in around 1972. Lynn Adams (Leslie #1 on The Guiding Light) assumed the role. The role of Leslie was assumed by Katherine Hayes and then by Barbara Rodell (who had been a castmate of Ms. Rowland's when she played Jill Stevens Claiborne on The Secret Storm.) I was told or read somethere that Ms. Rowland contacted the show and said that she was in the South and had run out of money. She was returned to New York and the role of Amy. She remained on the show until its cancellation and last episode. She was later asked by actor David O'Brien (who had been one of the actors to play Kip) if she would like to come to The Doctors where they once again would play husband and wife. They were both on The Doctors until the cancellation of that show. After that, she was in several episodes of The Hamptions on ABC, which had been created and produced by Gloria Monty, who had directed her for years on The Secret Storm. Also on that show was Fran Carlon, who had played her mother on As the World Turns, and John Reilley, who had played her husband on As the World Turns. (This, of course, was before Geoffrey Rowand, her brother, was playing Dan.) She also, at one time, was a temporary substitute for Marie Masters as Dr. Susan Stewart. She was offered a role in the movie of Tootsie (which was set on a soap opera set), but she told her second husband that she really did not want to continue her career as an actress. Her husband replied that she should not go to the audition for Tootsie and should continue as she pleased. Sometime, she had a son named Sparks, and the father of Sparks was murdered. Now at this time, there is no mention of her son Sparks anywhere that I can find. I saw the obituary for her second huband, and there was no mention of a stepson. Does anyone know anything about what has happened to Sparks?

Ryan's Hope Discussion Thread
I do not think that Delia Reed was spoiled at all. She would probably wished that someone had spoiled her. Delia was deprived as a youngster. Her mother died, and, evidently, her widowed father was incapable in her rearing or was more interested in caring for Bob. Delia migrated to the Ryan family due to the need of belonging. She would have loved to be Katheleen, Mary, or Siobhan.

Julia Barr (Ryan's Hope, All My Children) could have easily played Pammy Davis on Somerset. Julia Barr (Ryan's Hope, All My Children) could have easily played Pammy Davis on Somerset.
