I thought about this song earlier and meant to find my cd but hey I'm online so why not just find the video? I love the drums on this song. <iframe width="480" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/AqeIiF0DlTg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>>

The NRA leadership seems to be pretty twisted. It's hard to believe that they are able to control so much legislation but it speaks to the fact that politicians are far from being about the people (or at least the ones who can be bought). They don't even need to employ an ounce of logic because the mention of the Second Amendment seems to send nut cases into a tizzy. Surely it doesn't say they have the right to bear military style weapons. I tire of the argument that this or that won't stop the violence. No one is claiming that laws eliminate crimes. At best, they deter some crimes and the fact that they don't stop crimes is not a reason for a law not to exist. People use the most special logic as an excuse for not doing the most simple things. I loved listening to the gun advocate who wants to protect himself from the tyrannical government and needs his weapons, in case he has to overthrow said government, question Piers Morgan about why he's not going after handguns and knives as well. So he's complaining that losing the right to 7 plus magazines is a violation of his rights while chastising the one who wants to strip of his rights, for not wanting to completely strip him of all weapons.

What Are You Listening To?
- The Politics Thread
I actually got that part but still it makes no sense to me. I shouldn't try to make sense of illogical behavior. The Republicans appear to be super frustrated because they desire to claim some victory over Barack Obama and it isn't coming easy to them. They're probably even more frustrated that all of those Democrats haven't rolled over for them and don't appear to be scared of them right now. Imagine John Boehner saying invoking the word "adult," as if he's been behaving like a mature one for ages.- The Politics Thread
I don't get the preoccupation with Susan Rice or maybe I'm just finding it hard to believe. They're very afraid of Hilary Clinton so they're trying to pretend that Susan Rice is in charge of State Department decisions. I just find it hard to believe that rational people actually vote for these clowns.- The Politics Thread
Your response is an indication that you have either never read anything I post or you simply don't understand my posts--especially the one from which you lifted the excerpt that you misinterpreted. How odd is it that you are from a party that pretends to be superior in Christian values and yet when faced with them you cannot discern them at all. Simply put, as a Christian or more accurately someone who strives to be a good Christian, I don't find it necessary to insult someone because he or she does not share my opinions, values, or thought processes. If you don't or cannot understand that then too bad. Maybe you'll try reading and comprehending in the future before you let your emotions get the best of you.- The Politics Thread
Somehow I missed this so I'll take a shot at responding now. Let me begin with lessons learned from the internet and sports radio talk shows: people often mistake their opinions for facts and people are rather intolerant of opinions that are not the same as their own. I know it can be frustrating but how boring would the world be if everyone thought the same way about everything? Uhm no, I'm not. I made a mistake in even beginning what I had to say with that because I didn't want to appear presumptuous. Consider that it takes more strength to ignore attacks than it does to engage in futile exchanges. In my observation, it's a waste of time to engage in debates where people are set in their ways. It's even more wasteful when part of those debates include name calling. Plus this whole thing about having guts sounds a bit like schoolyard bullying to me. Do adults really conduct themselves in this manner? If so, I am extremely thankful and blessed that I don't know any grown-up who does. Really???? Who did they divide? (rhetorical btw). I object to your categorization of as being vile. I'm pretty certain that I disagree with her on a number of things and it hasn't caused me to feel or believe she is vile. In fact, I disagree with you on a whole host of things and have not come to that conclusion about you either. I'm pretty certain that most people on this board disagree with my opinions and think or feel they know something about me based on them. I get lessons on race (specifically black people) pretty often and it hasn't sent me into any type of rage. In fact, I generally find it amusing when people cannot accept that I have a differing opinion and feel the need to teach me about black people. It's a crime that I don't believe in the whole monolith business or I couldn't possibly know what it's like or whatever. Human is human to me. I don't know green, orange, or purple people and I do care if I see any and I can tell a story about someone who I encounter without mentioning race. My drumbeat sounds fantastic. I'm awesome but not perfect. And I try not to insult people just because they can't see my face. Anonymity does not embolden me to be rude on the internet. If you can see the speck in her eye, what about the mote in your own? It might be worth considering. One of the things I find most annoying about ESPN's Skip Bayless is that in his "debates" (which amount to nothing but illogical ranting at times), he has this tendency to say "you know it and I know it." No, I don't know it. I'm not big on anyone telling me what I know because of course, only I know what I know. Then to make it absolute is even worse. Oh and I'm pretending if I don't agree with you. Do you actually like people to communicate with you in that way? Consider me disingenuous then. It's been my observation that even though Max may get into disagreements with others and that he has acknowledged labeling other posters things he regrets and has apologized in those instances. Calling someone's words vile is different from calling the person vile. Even though you may believe in your truth, there may be others who find it vile. Are they any more right than you are with your opinions? No. Are they wrong? To them not but to you they may be way off base. We all see things through our own eyes and we can all see the same thing very differently. You're probably a great guy with whom I disagree on a number of things but probably agree with on a number of things as well. A lot of people probably miss out on the chance to interact with others on certain levels because they judge people based on things that might not be as significant as the things on which they miss out as a result. I'm glad we had a chance to interact and I wish you all the best. But I'm not going to continue to interact with you because I believe you're wrong in this and I'm committed to being a fair person and this goes against that for me. Be well!!- The Politics Thread
So I watched exciteable Ed for several minutes last night make a case for why the Republicans are using racist tinged code words against Susan Rice. John McCain suggested that she's not very bright and ITA with Ed, how does someone who selected Sarah Palin as a running mate question anyone else's intelligence. I don't recall what Lindsay Graham said thatr was supposed to be coded. Then there's the letter from the 97 Republican Reps who preemptively obeject to her nomination. And I still see this as an anti-Barack Obama issue and Susan Rice is a false target. Michael Eric Dyson's convoluted explanation of why it's a racial attack on her lost me and Karen Finney made it both racial and an attack on a woman. I know that Susan Rice has a great academic background but she's an enigma to me and maybe that's why I still leant towards it being more about a fight with the President than it being about whether they're really questioning her qualifications. They're still worked up over not being able to find evidence that confirms their Benghazi conspiracy theories and she happens ro be an easy target for them to use against him, even if it makes nbo sense.- The Politics Thread
She's certainly more than capable of fighting her own battles so that's not what I'm doing....but I do find what you said offensive and extremely ill mannered and I don't care if you wish to criticize me for saying so. It's childish to call a person vile because you don't agree with that person and there really is no need to even get that personal. Mitt Romney never said a lot of things directly but he implied certain things and while he may not have meant seniors or veterans or certain others, the percentage he named includes seniors and veterans because he made a specific tax reference if I recall correctly, that encompasses a lot of people he might not have wanted to include. That's the whole reason it pays to carefully consider what you say before you say it. Doing so minimizes the need to backtrack or apologize often. And I don't see how what's referred to as the Republican base has any more of a world view than the "one issue" Democrats. It's not as if some of them don't have their single issues as well, which in some cases seems to be avoiding gun control laws. Or xenophobia since their fearless leaders love to code language that gets their attention. While you may see a bigger picture, I doubt that the base to which coded language is meant to appeal, is interested in much more than protecting their space from foreigners which basically means anyone who does not look and speak like them. Some of those proud Republicans are probably sucking up "entitlements" themselves but the difference between their getting it and others getting it, is they somehow believe they earned it more than some minority who worked hard and fell on the same bad luck they did. Oh and I happen to be one of those backwards people that believe in creationism....God bless me!! And I'm perfectly content to be that backwards about it. I don't find it mutually exclusive of scientific principles either nor do I care if anyone thinks I'm a loon. I guess I can be right up there with the Republican candidates now.- The Politics Thread
I guess when you couple that with the following that it all becomes a tad bit humorous. That's kind of presumptuous isn't it? Are you implying that every working individual is feeling the same way? Would that be like how George Bush's policies affected the paychecks of some individuals or maybe the other George Bush before him or even some might say of Ronald Reagan? So all those people who are living the high life and doing extremely well financially must be thanking Barack Obama for his rotten policies that continue to benefit them in the best way imaginable? That would be the flip side right?- The Politics Thread
The Republicans and their foreign policy attack on Barack Obama seems to be taking the place of their formerly digging in too deep on the budget. One day John McCain is pushing the idea of Bill Clinton going to negotiate with Israel and the Palestinians, the next he's upset that Hilary Clinton, who happens to be the Secretary of State, is the one going to the region. His contempt is blinding him in the worst way. Being out of touch with every day people is a significant factor because the reality is that those people don't care much what is going on outside of their neighborhoods, cities, or states. It doesn't matter whether they should or not, it matters that they aren't going to continually be bombarded with this whole alleged Libyan cover up when they see people they know being killed where they live. They're being asked to give priority to that killing when mass murders go on in this country at a neighborhood salon, college campus, or movie theater. I can't even begin to understand your contempt for Barack Obama. It seems way too personal. So you believe he is responsible for dead Israelis and Palestinians? Why stop there, why not blame him for every criminal act that has taken place in the U.S.? I can't imagine what it's like to harbor so much contempt and resentment for a man that the bitterness manifests itself in the kind of beliefs that you've expressed. And Republicans don't seem to care as much about the four dead people as they do making it into a partisan issue. The fact that individuals run around carrying that water who probably were dead silent about leading this country into war under the pretext of fictitious weapons of mass destruction, is a prime example of the dichotomy of America that's going to continue to send all those people into fits of madness that their idyllic "traditional" America is gone. Eventually the voting landscape will change in a way that keeps most of those nut jobs from sliding into the House and the Senate in mid-term years. That will happen when that voting demographic exceeds the nuts in a number that nullifies voter apathy.- The Politics Thread
So a Fox News crony writing articles to express his disdain for Barack Obama is to be taken more seriously because it;s in print instead of his going on about it on the Fox studios sofa? The man hates Barack Obama and David Cameron. He's not doing any objective reporting. Nor is the mountain he's trying to build worthy of any attention. Not pronouncing the name of "the most prominent human rights activist in the world" is not the same as doing so for the leader of a nation's name. He should have gotten it right and she should have corrected him or someone else should. They could have laughed that off easily. I found George W. Bush quite humorous but I know that bumbling didn't play well overseas. But then there were also the gems he produced at home that made me laugh and probably gave others fits. Does anyone not remember how he told the President of the Philipines something about how talented they are because his cook's dishes remind him? I'd have to check on how conservative this paper is but I know they are not beyond praising Barack Obama. Here's a reminder of real noteworthy gaffes by the man who lost his Presidential bid and is choking on sour grapes with all the rest of those who cannot seem to move on: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/mitt-romney/9428295/Mitt-Romney-in-London-as-it-happened.html- The Politics Thread
I'm no extremist but I personally find the whole finger pointing premature. I prefer to wait for whatever investigations are being conducted to conclude before I take a position. Unfortunately, the whole thing has taken a partisan twist which means that it could drag out a whole lot longer than it should. At the very least, the security measures should be thoroughly examined and in those nations where adequate security is not being provided by the host nation, the U.S. should supplement it. I am lost on the contraception issue because I only know that it was a part of Mitt Romney's list of "free stuff" he claimed that Barack Obama used to win the election. Obviously the "free stuff" he was offering didn't appeal to the masses. While men are all bent out of shape over birth control, where does vasectomies rank on the list of "free stuff?" Is that a procedure that is covered by the same policy that gives women "free contraceptives?" Also, is viagra on that list of "free stuff?" And back to Luke Russert, according to Wikipedia he majored in history and communications so no journalism for him. NBC's practicing some special form of nepotism regarding him out of their desire to either see him transform into his father or some sort of loyalty. Whatever it is, they should let him go back to the wonderful world of sports talk. Now that they've established a cable sports network and may be on their way to radio sports, they've certainly got room for him elsewhere....I mean they did hire Erik Kuselias. Or he could saunter back over to ESPN where there seems to be no real criteria for on air personalities. All he needs to do is be able to mention Tim Tebow gratuitously 99 times a day and he'll be fine.- The Politics Thread
The only reason I can see for Luke Russert being on NBC/MSNBC is his father. I didn't watch the video but I read about the story earlier and the issue for me is that he didn't ask the same question to the men. I don't have a problem with asking any of them who have been sitting in Congress for decades if it's not time for some fresh faces. Some of them have been there the entire time passing these bills loaded with pork and playing partisan politics and they're more responsible to me than some of the Presidents that have come and gone while they've been in office, for much of the inefficiency that exists.- The Politics Thread
I saw a little bit of the ever excited Ed on MSNBC and they put up an abridged version of the Maine GOP chair that said he played basketball (minus the "every Sunday with a black guy"). I just started laughing. I wish he'd elaborated on the whole stray Chinese. I believe I read earlier that this blue state of Maine had a black population of about 1.3% so I wish he'd also explain how many of them would need to show up to make an impact on that state's election results. John McCain needs to take a special vacation with Lindsey Graham and their other cohort. Their conspiracy theory was that David Petraeus' scandal was timed to cover up Benghazi but now he's going to testify so that's out the window. If, according to Lindsey Graham, Susan Rice suffers from a lack of good judgment what does it say that his rationale for why it's okay that Condoleeza Rice shared spotty intel sounds pretty childish--we weren't the only country that believed it. So the U.S. should make massive errors because other countries do too?- The Politics Thread

General Petraeus just resigned citing an extramarital affair.- The Politics Thread
I pretty much get that all those "analysts" and "experts" who think that Barack Obama needs to tread lightly with the Republicans, believe that makes some sort of sense. It makes none to me. Compromise means both sides give not one and that's pretty much what they've said the President needed to do from day one. He cannot compromise with people whose mission was to get rid of him and now that they've failed, they're even more miserable than before and they can spin the results however they want--they still failed. And I want to reiterate to Max that I don't think Barack Obama owes Mitt Romney an apology at all--especially if you don't think Mitt Romney owes him one. Look at the surrogates Mitt Romney used and the things they said. It may not have come out of his mouth but I don't recall his saying anything about it and he still kept them all on. Here we have Ted Nugent calling the people who elected Barack Obama and There was somebody on here the other day trying to associate an an inaugural participant with the President as telling by the company he supposedly keeps. As usual in double standard world, it means nothing that Mitt Romney's company included Donald Trump calling for a revolution because he didn't like the results and the above gem from Ted Nugent. Please look in the mirror before you cast your stones.- The Politics Thread
No matter who would have spent money to try to defeat Barack Obama, I still believe that Karl Rove fleeced his donors. Of the 11 senatorial candidates after which he went, only one was defeated. - The Politics Thread
