Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Yikes. I am on the fence with this. Yes, it'll provide good drama on the show and bring Alexis back, but I can see this getting drawn out and putting OC back into a slump again. I can foresee the first half of the season the women being pro-Alexis and telling Shannon to get over it, and then for TamRat to flip the script and lead an army against Alexis the second half as Shannon becomes wounded bird. I guess we'll see in upcoming weeks what happens as OC should start filming soon.

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
Many (on Twitter) are suspecting, Nish will get framed with Keanu's murder. I can picture them doing that too, as Linda not coming clean that she saving Sharon from being strangled would be the least dramatic payoff. It'll be a nod to when Zoe thought she killed Den (even though Chrissie really killed Den), and she/Sam/Chrissie kept the secret. I imagine the women will hold onto the secret until next Xmas where someone like Dean will stumble across the actual truth (throughout the year) and use it to taunt Linda. This'll allow the writers to play up on "poor Linda" even more. The women will go around the Square all next year swearing each other to secrecy as they feel tortured about the act. However, one of them will be the "enforcer" (a la Chrissie) trying to keep the truth under wraps. Then I bet money that Dean will probably become a casualty throughout the year (as Matt DiAngelo typically doesn't stick around on EE too long). It'll all come ahead next Xmas where all will be exposed. Linda will probably go out in dramatic fashion and the other women will get slaps on the wrists. Personally, I just hope they have Linda and Denise come clean that they attacked the two men to save their friends and move on. I don't know UK law, but both instances were self defense as they were saving their friends from being killed by their spouses. But this is EE and they gotta have something to make next Xmas dramatic. That aside, while I was a fan of the big Xmas episodes, it has become a joke at this point. I think the last time a Xmas episode had long impact on the show was Archie's death. It should be a running joke in "Walford" that the people expect doom and gloom on Xmas. They should all fear Xmas instead of eagerly awaiting it. I wish the UK soaps would stray from major catastrophes on Xmas as it has become hollow at this point. I get why they do it b/c it is a major ratings grab with everyone probably being home, but again, it is hollow at this point. But I am interested to hear what UK fans have to say as they more used to this than I have been.

RIP: Former OLTL actor Kamar de los Reyes has passed
RIP, Kamar! It was because of him that I started to watch OLTL back in the summer of '03 with the Antonio/Jess pairing. He was brooding and I felt he had the look of a major star. His passing hurt b/c he was hitting his stride in primetime finally. He did a stint on The Rookie and seemed to looking to become a mainstay on All American. Sending all my love to Sherri and the kids. And on Xmas Eve... ugh. That's gotta hurt.

Guiding Light Discussion Thread
Oh how I used to be amused by Vivian growing up watching GL with my grandma. She was so stiff and snobbish. A total contrast from my beloved David & Gilly; however, it was refreshing as a young Black man to see a Black character that wasn't reduced to the role of the "best friend" or the "have nots." I hate how the Grants were made a mainstay on the show.

ALL: Legacy children who were undervalued or underdeveloped
GL: The Marler twins. I know many people HATED the superfecundation story with Rick/Blake/Ross but it had tons of potential in the later years. When Rick had a hand in death of Ross and Phillip later returned, the twins should've been SORASed to teens or young adults. I always visioned Kevin, who was once believed to be Rick, would've been drawn to Rick (missing a father figure), which would've unnerved Blake. Jason, on the other hand, would've been a chip of the old block and should've been made a nu-age Roger, who gave Phillip and Rick hell. Piggybacking off of that, Leah, Rick's daughter should've fell into this boat too. She should've been loathing Phillip for literally causing the demise of her parents marriage. ATWT: The Ward quads. Instead of ever creating Hunter, they could've easily made the actor one of the boys. It still would've tied the character to the Stewarts. Dani Andropolous. Much like Christina, Dani should've been brought back and used correctly. She would've provided story for Kim, and if used properly could've been a surrogate daughter for Craig instead of being used as his mistress. That was icky and so out of character. B&B: The Carter kids (Mary, Diana, and Ryder). The perfect way to further assimilate Sheila back to the canvas would've been to simply have her equally unhinged kids trying to infiltrate the Forresters/Logans and get close to Finn. Mary (aka Erica) already had history with Rick from eons ago, which could've been reignited. Diana is Ridge's blood sister. And even though we don't like to acknowledge Ryder (as he's a creation of MAB), he could've been tweaked and used to set his sights on Hope or Steffy. Y&R: The Brooks/Foster kids as many of you have pointed out. Where is Jennifer and Chucky to hold down the hospital aspect of the show? And Brooks should be an exec trying to steal Newman from Victor, much like Victor had once stole Prentiss Industries from his dad, while wooing Victoria in the same breath. Noah owns his thread too. And I am glad many are pointing out that all his stories are going to his "himbo" daddy, Nick. Noah should be the one at odds with Adam over women and business. Keemo belongs here too. It always bothered me how the one diverse Abbott has yet to return to the canvas. And then giving him a daughter who doesn't drive story either is weird too. DAYS: Dougie LeClaire. Doesn't Doug have a son? Why isn't he in Salem? Why doesn't he have a tumultuous relationship with Doug, Julie, and Hope?

But that's why I feel they made Craig obsessed with Carly--at the end of the day, he always ended up back in her circle. I watched Hal's passing tonight too, and I felt Jeffrey Meek was so miscast. He would've made a good Rick Ryan. Craig, he is not. Watching all the 80s and early 90s episodes again with Scott Bryce as Craig has spoiled me. He was multi-layered and lovable. I get making him a bit jaded when Hunt took the role, but he was so damn one note. And it is irking my nerves going back and watching Hunt's run and seeing how Sheffer used to constantly have Craig thumb his nose at cops. Especially, when Craig (when Bryce played him) was petrified of going to jail after that first stint where he was brain washed. Rewatching Sheffer's reign (even though I liked it for the most part), highly resembled GH at times, which I know is a show Sheffer said in interviews he'd love to write for. Again, watching Craig tell the cops how to do their jobs felt so like Sonny/Jason telling Ric or Taggart how to handle the law. Just weird.

Going down the rabbit hole again, and I've been watching the spa arc again. Yeah... I am starting to realize while Hunt's Craig was grating to long-term fans. His obsession with Carly was weird. And Hogan's obsession with making Craig constantly get one over on the police (preferably Jack) is even more grating.

YR return
Sorry, but I don't have to accept anything.

YR return
Can they just persuade Heather back into her role at this point? Amelie can go across the hall and play Katie. Or some other role. You can't bring Cole back and flop on the story.

YR return
Finally! I hope this is long-term, so Victoria can finally be paired with someone with chemistry. Didn't J. Eddie and Amelie's characters (Jake and Mia) date on AMC?

My Queen!!!! I am so glad Colleen is back on daytime. She is one actress I've always been stunned that a soap didn't snap her up.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Yes! She totally started a whole unnecessary rivalry between Nneka and Wendy. And Potomac needs to steer clear of tough topics within our community b/c Bravo does not allow them the proper resources or platform to properly address them. Just like colorism, the caste system amongst Africans is going to be grossly skimmed over instead of being done correctly and educating people.

The more I bounce around '85/'86, the more I grow annoyed with Steve again. When I watch pre-'85, Steve isn't as annoying/brutish. But God he is unbearable anytime Betsy interacts with Craig. I get that Craig was a turd, but he needs to let go. And I need to find someone who has the Doug Cummings trial episodes in its entirety! It is killing me to have that missing gap that I cannot watch.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Only thing I got from Potomac's episode last night was that Robyn is willingly deluded. I think Robyn knows that Juan's and his stupid antics are a sure way to ensure she keeps that Bravo check. She knows that she alone is not interesting enough to keep a full-time position on the show. Such a shame.

YR promo: Chance has been shot
I get the importance of veterans, but the show is called the YOUNG and the Restless. Stress on young. The primary premise of the show was to focus on young adults. And I am sorry but a lot of the vets need to be put out the pasture with the repetitive stories they keep getting. No one cares to see Nick pouting about having to work one second, fighting the next second over a woman, and bedding a woman the next. We're over Snoozetoria whining over daddy's company. We're over Victor trying to control these middle aged adults. We're over poor Sharon pining for a man when she's not pouring coffee. Or Phyllis starting to foam at the mouth now over a man (Danny) that NEVER loved her. Lee and Bill must be spinning in their graves over how these people have ruined their shows (Yes, I am talking about you and the trash you've made B&B, Brad).

Goutman and his team didn't do any of these rules hence why the show was a mess in its final years. I do remember seeing the scene (on Youtube) where Dee came down in a and Brad was literally undressing her with her eyes. It was just weird. And for Dee to lust after him while being repulsed by John for doing the same stuff was weird too. Reading up, I never understood this story. Was the mine on their property? If so, I thought they all lived in suburban areas. I do think that the Dobson might've been testing a lot of their ideas used on SB on ATWT.

As The World Turns Discussion Thread
From what I've seen of Brad, I never understood how the Dobson thought he was their romantic hero. To the historians in the thread, was Brad supposed to be ATWT's answer to GH's Luke? Or did Brad predate Luke? I am asking b/c all the soaps seemed to cast men around that time that had the Anthony Geary aesthetic. I've said this before that many of the characters that weren't connected to the canvas (i.e., Henry, Janet, Vienna, Liberty, etc.) could've easily been cast as long standing characters in the show's rich history. I even felt that with many of the GH stunt castings too. I felt they stupidly squandered Wally Kurth, who has great chemistry with Maura. He could've easily been cast as Caleb or Scott (Lisa's son). Stuart Damon would've made the perfect Don recast. There were hundreds of characters to choose from the show's rich history that were practically blank canvases. Yes to that. I want to see the episodes where Marie Kovac, Cal Randolph, and Dr. Strauss all got killed. If I am not mistaken, the episode from '85 where Marie's body was found was on YouTube. I don't know if it is still there or not.

Seth was hot, but so was Casey. After all Frannie went through with Doug, Marland should've had Frannie have a "hot girl summer" and just enjoy both their company. 😂 Oh, OK. that could've possibly been why she didn't film the other episodes. Makes sense. I think in the episode I posted, Kim said a throwaway line about Penny. I gotta go back and watch it. History? What is that? 😂 Jokes aside, you know Goutman & Passanantate weren't gonna do that. Hell, they didn't even research Dani when bringing her back and having her sleep with Craig. Mind you, a central point of the character's history was that Craig once thought she was his daughter.

As The World Turns Discussion Thread
No worries! But I think the Tad Channing and Lucinda scenes (featuring Iva and Lily) would've brought me back in personally if I were a viewer watching during this time. The Marland years of ATWT, early 90s GL, and late 80s to 1994 AW are just chef's kiss for me. I can curl up and go down a rabbit hole in one of those eras all night. But as of late, I am hooked on 1986 ATWT. While Holden and Meg are irritants to me, I am loving watching this time period for the 100th time. Another thing that annoy me from this time is why didn't Marland truly test Casey and Frannie?! They were smoldering. Yes, he had hot chemistry with Lyla but Frannie/Casey had something there!

YR promo: Chance has been shot
It just boggles my mind how the son of a character who's birth sparked decades worth of drama between its two central characters (Kay & Jill) is getting not only shot offscreen but doesn't drive any story really. Chance has been made useless on this show much like Noah. Two characters that are totally wasted and should be driving most of the story.

I don't think I stated he needed to do a stand-alone episode. I simply stated that I assumed that Frannie/Penny weren't in the funeral episodes most likely b/c they probably had Sierra/Tonio filming in spots that should've been for them. I understand as writer what he was doing; however, Penny/Frannie were needed more than watching Sierra & Craig pine for one another and Tonio browbeat Craig. I'm just thinking it would've been nice to see them mourn alongside the Hughes clan. Regardless, the memorial of Chris/Don MacLaughlin was done too perfection. They were just missed. Furthermore, the "b storyline" with Lucinda/Lily/Iva/Tad was good enough to combat the episode's "a storyline," which was the funeral. Overall, '86 was a defining year for ATWT. I just wish that all of '86 and '87 were accessible on YouTube. I hate that majority of the Doug Cummings murder trial in June was removed.
