I am shocked that Don did that to Veleka Gray, so that his wife could land a role on the show. I hope that he has since reached out and apologized for doing so. Do you think that Diana worked because she was a foil to the saccharine, one-note Betsy? That Diana seemed like she had layers to her? And reading up on her backstory, it finally seemed like Diana was coming into her home when Kim Johnston Ulrich left the show.

I think her name was Hayley. She was an ingenue - her aunt Connie was in charge of her inheritance and James was sleeping with Connie so he could get what he wanted of it. She had a romance with Eric Hollister (Peter Reckell), kid brother of the sleazy, pornstached Brad Hollister, one of the most unlikely leading men ever on a soap. The Dobsons made them so wan that I don't think viewers ever gave a damn. I always want to see more of the Dobsons run, yet I also don't, because what I have seen is...not good, and is quite dull and jarring to ATWT's core identity. It plays like a 40-year old who suddenly starts dressing like an 18-year old to feel hip. I can see why viewers, and Helen Wagner, headed elsewhere (although it may have been P&G, not the Dobsons). I think Veleka claimed in an interview that Hastings got her fired. Thanks, Carl! You're the best. I'm going to go read this now. And from watching clips that WLS post of ATWT, I can see why fans didn't like the Brad Hollister. He was kind of skeevy looking and the fact that the Stewart girls fought over him had to be hard for longtime fans. But that aside, I still wanna see the Dobsons time at ATWT just to say I've seen it. It can't be worse than what's on air now. Sounds like their entire run on Santa Barbara. I did like the McColls on ATWT…they did do some things enjoyed….. From what little I've seen of the McColls, I liked them. Where they used as inspirations for the Capwell clan of SB? Because many of them have the same characteristics of the McColls.

When she first came onto the show, she was reformed and was now a no nonsense nurse. It was the flashbacks that showed that Lyla was a former slut, golddigger (as John would taunt her for going after a Hughes.) Her slut genes rolled down to her kids as you could see her being strict with Cricket (the horrible Lisa Loring in an Erica Kane wanna be role, but it could have been a good character) who was a wild before she too melted into the wood work (to match her acting.) Cricket even went to the Masked Ball NOT wearing the slip under her dress that Lyla insisted on! (the scandal) Lisa on her gossip rounds in the hospital told people about it and she and Lyla had a fight about it...something that Sword's Lyla would never do. I liked the first actress who did seem like she had it rough and was a bit tough but Hastings hated her right? Don Hasting didn't get along with Veleka Gray? Ooo! I'd like to hear more about that. And I can so picture Lisa's busybody ass going around spreading gossip. Was Lisa doing that b/c she felt threatened by Lyla? Now I am intrigued to see the inception of the Montgomery clan on ATWT. And I didn't know that they tried modeling Cricket after Erica Kane. From reading her backstory, she just came off as a reckless teen that became a teen mom.

I agree. Nene brought nothing last season, and she stayed trying to get out of shooting. She didn't want contribute so it was best to exit stage left. As I said before, this season doesn't seem so toxic. It actually seems like the women will be in better spirits now that the dark cloud known as Nene is gone. RHOCheshire s2e4: These chicks are whack as !@#$%^&*]. Like seriously. Who the hell talks about their foes at a child's christening? If I was Leanne, Magali would be the furthest thing from my mind. These stupid women give Magali so much power, which is why she continues to run circles around their stupid asses. Tanya can't say that she doesn't want division but she participates in it. She's full of [!@#$%^&*] this season, and she has no reason to hate Magali. I was glad that Ampika called her to the carpet. None of them girls want it with Ampika. It was so sweet when Lauren reminded everyone that it was Magali's birthday. That's a true friend.Leanne is damn hostile. Like she looks for a reason to hate Magali. Sad part is that Magali seems like she actually likes Leanne and wants to be friends with her; however, Leanne is so deep up Dawn's ass, you do have wonder if she has feelings for Dawn. But I am ready for the Dawn v. Magali showdown next week. Magali looks like she's gonna get into Dawn's ass.

Yes. Sadly, Tut-Tut got her peach back. I think with the loss of Nene, Bravo didn't wanna rattle the audience too much by filling in the empty spots with two to four new girls. Instead, they settled for the 'brain dead one' coming back another season to help fill the void of Nene and provide some comfort to Nene old fans. I think this season will be her test. If she flops again, I think she'll be shown the door for good. But we all know she most likely has one foot out the door thanks to the altercation she had with Cynthia. if thats the case then they should have kept Claudia Phakedra's new face is distracting ETA: Shame on Bravo for photoshopping Kenya to make her look light skinned Yeah, they might as well kept Claudia. The one person that wanted her gone anyways (Nene) isn't on the show. I don't know why they shook the cast up so much once she left. (Re: Kenya) That's why people got thrown off and thought she was Sheree b/c they edited her height and skin color. Kenya wasn't too happy about it on Twitter. And yeah, Phaedra's new face is distracting. So funny because she tried taking shots at Cynthia (at the reunion) about her new fact but look at her. I thought it was Sheree too until I pulled the shot up on Twitter and noticed that Kenya has posted a shot of that same jumpsuit on IG awhile back. Then I just tweeted and asked her to confirm. But Sheree is totally on the show. She's the one shrieking, "This bitch is really crazy!" at the end of the promo.

No she didn't. She verified with me on Twitter she did. They made Kenya shorter in the photo so it somewhat resembles Sheree. But it's Kenya. She still has her peach. Sheree is a friend.

I think that Lyla is strong when it comes to her kids but I just never saw her as being vibrant compared to the other women on the cast. Hell, I get more from Ellen than I do Lyla. I did however, feel something for her when they brought her back the last time under Hogan's reign. But again, she was in the orbit of her kids and was scolding Katie for marrying Simon. Yeah from most of the episodes I am watching, Lily is coming off more as a brat (and a twat) than what she usually is but I like her. She isn't as self-righteous and preachy as she'd later become. As you said, she was flawed. From what little I've seen of HR's Lily (as I haven't gotten around to watching most of her time on the show) I like her. She isn't as shrill as MB's Lily, who I adored even though she annoyed me at times. HR seems to play a tragic heroine better than MB without all the screaming and hysterics. Noelle was OK as Trisha Alden (and what little I've seen of her too) is just like a carbon copy of Lily and most younger heroines at that time--all screams and hysterics. Noelle fit perfectly on ATWT (as an actress) but I think Lily was just the wrong role for her. I think she would've fit better in another role. Maybe an Ellie recast?

Me too. I miss ATWT a hella lot, especially the 80s episodes. I know some fans have their favorite eras and some disparage the Dobsons while others disparage Marland but let's face it-- both regimes were better than Sheffer by a country mile even during Hogan's best days! Even the strike/scab material beats what I see on 90% of today's remaining soaps. So agree. I'm sure that the Dobson or Marland at their 'worst' is better than what is onscreen now. But what I miss most about soaps and what I get from watching old clips of all of the soaps are there sense of identity. Each soap had it's own identity, which separated it from the rest. You don't get that now as they all just worry about telling the next shock story. Shock storytelling will boost your ratings for a second but the payoff (if sucky) will turn people off.

Oh wow. I didn't know that Lyla was originally intended to be a slutty character. But I guess b/c I've never seen scenes with Veleka Gray in the role. IMO, I think Lyla would've been more interesting if she was a bit more sultry than the drip she was. I like Lyla but she always comes off as sullen and meek all the time. I always wonder how she bagged a sexpot like Casey Peretti being as dowdy as she was. And poor John has always had a thing for younger women even though his best pairings (IMO) were with women who were his contemporaries (i.e. Lucinda/Lisa/Emma). I do get mad all over again at how the show allowed Larry Bryggman to walk away when John Dixon was a character that could wreak havoc and drive the whole show just off his antics. I would've enjoyed the show had they put Bob and John against each other again for the hospital OR a Lisa/Lucinda/John triangle at the end of the show. Plus, with Dusty's return, it would've been good to see them interact too. But all this recent ATWT viewing I've been doing along with the talks I've had with you all make me wish that P&G would just release all the episodes in their vault to the public instead of allowing them to rot. I seriously would love to watch all the episodes of ATWT from the 80s that I can. I just find it to be an interesting era of the show.

So clearly this was before Sierra found out about Craig/Lucinda's tryst. After the reveal, she'd go on and marry Tonio, correct? The exchange between John and Lisa was hilarious. I've never seen someone wind Lisa up like John did in this scene. It was also funny of Lisa to rehash all of John's history and all the women he screwed over, and for Lyla to soon follow and back Lisa's argument. I wondered why the show never attempted a Lyla/John pairing. Those two always seemed to have a good chemistry, and from watching old clips of ATWT, Lyla has been one of the few that knows how to chin-check John every now and then. I did feel bad for John watching him become deflated once he spotted Craig kissing Sierra. I wish that the episode where Marie Kovac was killed was post back on YT. Heck, I'd like to watch that whole arc. While Marie was a bit of a flop character (according to some ATWT old fans), she did play a pivotal role in one of the show's greatest stories/murder mysteries. And was Marsha the one that sent the note to the police to get the police off her track and onto Lucinda's?

RHOC: Boring. I couldn't even watch it. I turned the TV halfway through. I'm over the cancer storyline. I did watch WWHL and Shannon was being a frigid twat towards Gretchen. I am glad that Gretchen told Shannon that she was drinking the Tamra 'koolaid' and that she'd learn just like Gretchen did. It was funny to hear how Gretchen ingeniously showed how Vicki's story now mirrors hers a few years back and how Vicki was a hypocrite. I am glad though that she wishes Vicki the best and told her that she should be with Brooks if he makes her happy. At the end of the day, Vicki should be concerned about herself. No one else. RHOCheshire: Tonight was so GOOD! Can Bravo just scrap the OC and replace it with Cheshire? I get more emotion out of them than I do OC. I loved seeing Magali step up as a boss and let these hoes know that you don't cross Magali! I enjoyed watching her wag her finger at Leanne and I wish she would've reached across the table and hit her ass too. Ampika and Lauren are so ride or die and I'm glad that they don't agree with the video and have sided with Magali. Leanne loves to say that she isn't a lap dog, but she stayed reporting to her master throughout this episode. She's such a sad sap. I seriously think that Dawn should be concerned about her. Magali isn't the one that wants to be Dawn. Leanne is. And that lesbian rumor was absurd. If it doesn't apply, let it fly. Them entertaining it and getting heated over it only gave the rumor legs to stand on. Plus, it is clear that Magali didn't start the rumor; she'd own it if she did. But I wouldn't be surprised if Leanne did have feeling for Dawn. Why is Tanya still on this show? I liked her last season but she is pointless and irrelevant. I am glad that Ampika digs into her ass along with Leanne and Dawn next week. Lauren is kooky and I get a laugh out of watching her try and find new methods to try and lose weight. Sorry, Lauren good old fashioned exercise is the best way! But you gotta love her for trying. The showdown between Magali and Dawn was epic. Magali approached Dawn like a boss, and Dawn of course cowered like the wimp she is. Magali ate her up and sent Dawn running out the polo match with her tail between her legs. I am enjoying Magali giving Dawn a dose of her own medicine. And the whole Magali 'wants to be Dawn' was ludicrous. Who the f-ck says that as a 40+ year old woman? I think Dawn is the one that isn't happy with herself. I'm glad that her husband, Ashley, is forcing her to mend fences with Magali. It has to be draining for him b/c it's obvious that he genuinely likes Magali and Dean.

I loved Mariah's return. I think she has a legitimate reason to be pissed at these women. She actually gave all of them a platform to stand on and showcase themselves and they all spat on her in return. I don't blame her for being pissed and calling them out.

I am really enjoying the scenes with Jared and Iva. I was cracking up at her sister, Liz, stewing in the background over Jared and Iva bonding. I'm wondering is it because she feels her position is threatened about her position or because she feels Iva might be left something hefty. I see what you are saying about Marland when it came to Lily/Kirk. Glad he nixed it. Lily had enough men vying for her attention at that time. She doesn't need one more. I just love Lien. Anyone can understand her frustration over a new baby coming into the photo; she finally had her daddy all to herself and now she had to share him. I'm interested to see how far Marland took this story too. Lien had so much potential. I hate that she was never brought back in some capacity in the show's final years. Seeing as she had a tryst with Ben at one point, it would've been interesting to see a Ben/Jessica/Lien triangle and how it'd affect Margo and Tom seeing as Lien is their daughter and Jessica is Margo's best friend. Barbara looked like she wanted to die when Hal told Paul to tell Margo he loved her.
