  1. I'd take Libby over 90% of the current cast. One thing I did admire about Libby that most of the canvas lacks is ambition. The only thing I'd want (if she were to return) is that she comes on as a professional woman who just happens to live on the Square. Mads and Alex need to be hauled off too with Keegan. They are just too heinous to fix at this point. They can return some time down the road a remorseful adults. But staying on the show now? Nope. They gotta go. I like the actor that plays Keegan too, but as aforementioned, SOC ruined his own creation before he allowed him to find footing. He's just too nasty. You brought up Whitney and she too is a character that is deadweight. She should've left YEARS ago with either the Moon brothers or Bianca and her clan. All of Whitney's stories consist of the same thing--her screwing somebody's man. She reminds me of Roxy where her stories are circular and you never see growth. Maybe she should've joined the Mitchell sisters in that pool that night... Well EE has some other dreadful actors currently, so she wouldn't be able. But she might've improved by now, so we never know.
  2. Who gives a sh-t about them? I don't. Empire makes double of what daytime soaps make and they addressed police brutality. American Crime's first season opened with a 8.0 in ratings and stayed making above 4.0 throughout the season, and they addressed race relations. Shots Fired consistently stayed making what Y&R is getting now. Soaps need to get back in the business of telling stories that makes people uncomfortable. That is what art does. It makes you think and see things from different perspectives. I think everyone was on David's side, which is the one thing that unnerved me. It would've been interesting to see some characters (not Roger as they always made him the bad guy) turn their nose up to David, and believe he was guilty.
  3. I lost it when Roberta Flack started to sing and Bridget ran into David's arm. Just so much heart and humanity in that scene. Again, we'll never see that again on the remaining 4 soaps, which is sad seeing as they have the tools to tell a story like this. We're still at the height of cases like Mike Brown, Philando Castile, Trayvon Martin, and it still boggles my mind that none of the remaining 4 have not told a story like this today.
  4. Well Keegan must get all his looks from the father. I don't think the eldest Taylor boy is ugly either. He's handsome. But the rest of them... Again, I just couldn't get behind Michelle acting like Mary Kay Letourneau Jr. It is out of character for her b/c Michelle was always the logical one. Pauline and Arthur must be rolling in their graves over how she's panned out. We know that Ian is going nowhere as Adam Woodyatt will be there till he chooses to leave; however, Jane can go. She is not needed. I enjoyed Ian immensely when he was paired with Denise, who I wanted to emerge as the new Beale matriarch. That all got nuked to hell once Jane returned. I might be able to get over Ian for his actions (even though I need a recast Peter to return to stay giving him grief over it), but Jane has to go. I've never liked her. I never will. Chelsea doesn't need to be recast. They just need to bring Tiana Benjamin back, who I'm sure would return. They just need to bring all of Denise's kids back. Jordan, Libby, and Chelsea. Crazy I am saying this b/c I used to loathe Libby at times. But she was been wonderful these past few visits she's made over the past 2 years. Lauren is another character I just don't care for. I don't. Lauren screwing around on someone and not committing to a relationship is nothing new for me. I wish she and Abi would leave and go live with Tanya offscreen TBH. And Steven should've been left gay (as I've said before), and he should be competing with Ben over men. And I am with @TimWil where Keegan is beyond repair. SOC should've stopped while he was ahead with the character, but he kept making him heinous, and NOW he wants us to pity him. It's too late! After he faked the porn video with Bex, that's when he should've went legit. Now that he's declaring he slept with Louise, which is sexual assault, whether true or not, it is too far. He's too much of a sexual deviant at this point.
  5. I think that it has to do with Middle America and the South along with the fact that many of these people care not to see a Black man with a White woman. They will turn a blind eye to a White man with a Black woman, but the second a White woman comes into the picture as opposition, she better emerge victorious in the battle. Look at Shannon/Jessica/Duncan. Poor Jessica got tossed to the side for Shannon. When look back at it, Jessica/Duncan had a WAY better love story than Duncan/Shannon. I so agree with this. P&G soaps had a crafty way of subtly instilling the message in you, and not force feeding it. But the scene of David getting freed was such a powerful message to me as a young Black boy. It has always been one of my favorite scenes from my time watching GL. Just sucks b/c the bottom would fall out soon enough and in a few years, David, Kat, Gilly, Hamp, and Bridget would all be gone.
  6. Oh wow. P&G lost a stellar writer in Patrick Mulcahey, but I didn't want Bridget/David together as I always felt they had a sibling relationship if anything. I am over here crying over the scene of David being cleared. This scene is so powerful and relevant today. Sadly, we'll never get something like this on daytime today. Guiding Light at its best was truly ahead of its time.
  7. Wasn't he introduced having something to do someone's wallet being stolen? Was it Roger or Ross...? Or maybe that was another character on another soap. But I would've never liked Bridget/David being together. I always enjoyed the fact that they were simply friends and nothing more. I'm glad that Curlee was halted with this decision. Their friendship was more powerful than anything. Especially, that scene when Bridget runs into David's arms at the courthouse when he's found not guilty for killing Vinnie (aka the future Nick on Another World). Let me go watch that scene right now.
  8. Well I am glad someone is enjoying those things but I am not. I do agree that the increased teen presence is good, but he is taking poor Louise and Bex through the damn wringer. Bex thought she had a sex tape, and Louise thinks she was sexually assaulted ... it's just too much. Doesn't help either that Keegan is tied to both incidents, and now we're supposed to pity him. SOC bringing Michelle was an absolute dud. I've said this months ago, and I still stick by it that Michelle would NEVER have preyed on a young boy given how her parents had sleepless nights over her/Den's affairs at the inception of the show. It is so out of character for her. And Ian/Jane can never be rebuilt after the damage the previous regime. I will never be able to look at the two characters the same again after the covered for Bobby for over a year when he killed Lucy, and Jane dumped her in the park like she was yesterday's trash. The only way I feel they can be rebuilt is if Jane dies a fatal death, and Ian spends eternity alone and miserable. I didn't even how Kathy went along with it too. While I am not as disgusted with her, I can't look at her the same at times too. But anyone who reduces Phil's airtime gets a bit of credit in my book. Like Steve McFadden, but Phil is long overdue an exit. I'm sure once he returns to the show, he'll pick up where he left off as a big ass bully on the Square that everyone unfortunately fears.
  9. at Bridget pushing that poor woman in the wheelchair off into a passing orderly's arm. She had me rolling too over how she kept snatching that hat off her head despite Lillian telling her to wear it. I just enjoy her and Kat together. This is a friendship, a sisterhood on soaps that seriously needs to be duplicated. We rarely see anything like it nowadays. While I don't generally care for stories about women moaning about wanting kids, I do when it comes to Maureen. Nancy Curlee did it in a way where I felt for Maureen and it wasn't overkill. I was touched watching Ed feel saddened as Dr. Sedgewick and Maureen discussed her options about having a baby. Dylan is so damn hot. IDC what anyone says. Morgan Englund is sex on a stick. I'm right alongside Bridget in lusting after him. If I were Eleni, I would've mounted him in that truck. Screw driving lessons. We'd be having other lessons.
  10. And what would that be? B/c I've yet to see the good things he's brought to the show since he started.
  11. I've always felt that Reva wouldn't've been a big problem if she had ambitions and was rooted a bit more to reality. I think that the closest she's been to that was about when Reva was on her own and trying to find herself after nearly committing suicide. It was refreshing to see her try and piece her life back together with help from Roxie and Fletcher, and she was working as writer then. Sadly, it all got tossed out the window and Reva started chasing Kyle again and later Josh. All of Reva's stories consisted of her chasing a man. We never saw the career ambition and drive that the women on the show had. I guess that is why I am loving the early 90 episodes of GL b/c ALL the women had drive and didn't allow men consume their every being. That's why Holly, Gilly, and Vanessa have always been my faves on GL. I doubt that Ed and Mike being SORASed had any part of hurting the show as Don and Mart were (and still are) well-received by fans. Nothing is wrong with SORASing when it is done correctly. Ed and Mike were done correctly.
  12. I'm find out more and more each day on this board that so many people hated the Shayne clan with a deadly passion. I didn't mind them (as I love Reva), but even I have to admit from the time I started watching (the early 90s) to the end of the show that upon the time KZ returned to the show that her clan ate up the show.
  13. SMH. I'm scared to even watch. Plus, I'm also hearing that Abi wants Steven now... *sighs*
  14. That's f-cking disturbing if they allowed Louise to date him after that, but I would not be surprised. EE has done some bizarre mess these past five years, so this wouldn't be a stretch. So sad how all the women of all age groups on this show are written. It's disgusting at this point. None of them have self-worth.
  15. OK... How is Keegan attached to this trashy ass family? I would've been all for the fanfare I've been seeing online that he was some stray that Denise would take in, or even being Daphne's (Denise/Kim sister) child that they didn't know about even though that would be farfetched. I guess I'll sit back and see where this goes.
  16. Bill Bauer had another that was Hillary's brother? I gotta go read up on that. Makes no sense why they never brought him. I do think that tying Johnny to Trudy would've been the most sensible seeing as the character wasn't seen in decades. Her history was practically a blank canvas that could've been filled in with anything. That's something I just don't get with writers. Instead of creating all these new characters out of nowhere, why not use an old character that hasn't been on the canvas for decades and tie a new, young character to them? So seeing as you didn't care for Johnny that much, I am guessing you weren't keen on his pairing with Roxie either? I know a lot of people on another forum I used to post on used to go on about them like they were some great romance.
  17. Oh wow. Didn't know that. Why didn't they simply just have him be an offspring of Meta or Trudy? That would've made more sense. I swear some of these head writers make such an easy task so difficult. What were your person thoughts on Johnny?
  18. From what I've seen of Warren, he wasn't bad until they took him from being the hardened hospital administrator to a killer by '87. I think that he had stellar chemistry with Alexandra. From what I've seen of Jackson & Suzanne, I didn't care for them at all. I couldn't get into the singing stories at that time despite loving Lujack and later Chelsea. But speaking of this period of the show, was Johnny the scion of Trudy or Meta? Or was he simply just some distant Bauer that they didn't go into detail about who he was related to?
  19. I didn't see it but I am not surprised. Sonja's men always start off lusting after her and then lust (and chase) after Wh*reAnn. I'm sure after she's done with this ploy with Tom that she'll pursue him too. She always does. I think the one time that Sonja got one over on LuAnn was in s5 when she hooked up with the pirate after Luann stopped screwing him once everyone called her on it.
  20. Weren't there other Bauer siblings too? When Meta returned, it would've been nice for her to mention the whereabouts of them too. I just find it inexcusable when shows just toss legendary core families to the aside to push crappy newer families forward. Only a few soaps truly got away with it (i.e. Young and the Restless, Another World...) b/c the replacements were just as interesting. While I loved the Lewis/Shayne clan, I never saw them are core families that made me warm inside. And don't get me started on the Coopers...
  21. Well if he was gonna just read lines, he should've quit. Like said in my last post, Buzz became pointless after '99. He was not needed at all. Especially not for Harley and Frank, who were at their most entertaining years before he arrived. I love how you summed this up perfectly. I do wish that a director or someone higher up would've told O'Leary to scrap the comedy aspect, and tried to get him to capture all the characteristics you pointed out that Charita and Mart's Ed possessed.
  22. Oh I need the 20th to hurry up and get here so Ossoff's win can be set in stone. Then we can prep and start laying the foundation for Stacey Abrams to win the governorship in 2018.
