I love this, @Khan! Wasn't Janet Ed's mistress at once? I always wanted to revitalize the Reardon crowd on GL by having Quint and Nola move back to Thornway Road with a set of quads (2 boys, 2 girls) to mix it up with the youngsters (Leah, Jude, Zach, Kevin, Clarissa, Jason, Robbie, and Hope). Each of the quads would have similar characteristics of Reardon. One would be brutish and bossy like Tony, one would be astute and tense like Jim (and Quint), one daughter would be gentle and understanding like Maureen, and (of course) the other daughter would be classic Nola--a daydreaming hellion that keeps Quint and Nola on their toes. Stacey and J would both be successful cops at Springfield PD living at Thornway Road too. Stacey would be drawn to Alan Michael, yet constantly clashes with his amoral behavior. J would be a thorn in Lizzie/Bill's marriage, as Bill would still get wrapped up in Dinah's shenanigans to take over Spaulding. J would contrast to Bill, being mysterious and gentle like his father. They'd eventually have an affair, which would've put Quint's camp versus Vanessa's camp. There would've been tons of classic exchanges between Vanessa and Nola. Tom would've come to join the Thornway Road crew and get involved with Marah. It would've tied into Lizzie/J's relationship as Tom would've known about the affair. Once it all blew up, Bill would've gone on a rampage wanting all things Reardon eradicated from Springfield as he sure as hell doesn't want his cousin Marah involved with a Reardon too. Michelle would've been wrapped up in it too as she is conflicted between her cousin (J) and oldest friend (Bill). But Michelle, who has fallen under the Bauer alcoholism curse, seeks solace from Bill while feeling neglected by Danny, the aspiring politician.

I guess you are right. Again, I don't have an issue with new characters as everyone can't be related; however, I just feel that given what I've seen of that era on YouTube, they could've beefed the Bauers up better from the mid-80s to the end of the show. The Bauers had such a rich family history and so many surrogate family members that they could've whipped up someone to tie them to the main family. And it boggles my mind that Hope nor Elizabeth were never brought back in later regimes. Both should've came back to be voices of reasons to their sons, who adopted Alan's negative attributes at times. I could've sworn that a head writer (from the past) debunked the rumor of getting paid royalties for creating new characters. That isn't a bad choice. As you pointed out, Sam did have a history of being attracted to bad boys. And as long as it is explained logically and causes a ricochet across the canvas, I am all for it.

But what I mean by that is that they make their own mark and when the audience resists it, they double down even more instead of quickly fixing it. Again, I am all for new families and characters, but work on the existing families too. Especially, the main families of these shows. Mallet being torn between Dinah/Sam would've been way better than Marina, which was gross. We could've had the lawman/lawyer/journalist triangle, which could've intertwined them all for years.

I never understood why writers want to make their own mark. The stories made for Harley could've easily been Lacey and Todd. And the fans would've taken to them quicker as they were extensions of Ed. Yes, we occasionally need new families; however, at that time, the Bauers needed to be rebuilt more than anything. I would've been fine with the Marlers moving into the place of the Bauers as we'd still have a tie in to the Bauers through Blake. And Dinah v. Sam would've been fun to watch, as they could've also competed for men too. They could've competed professionally too with Dinah being the media and Sam being the law. All of this "what if" infuriates me b/c GL (and all the other cancelled soap) have history, ties, and bonds that should've been neverending. But recycling TPTB would never help any genre.

Interesting tidbit! She did eventually land on a P&G soap in the end as Roseanna. I guess it did come full circle. I would've been all for that. Plus, Sam was long overdue a return. They could've brought back Morgan Englund as Dylan and addressed that. Phillip would've had Sam be his moral compass. We could've seen Sam become the legal beagle in town that her uncle, Ross, once was... The endless possibilities. Sarah Brown or Megan Ward would've been my top choices as Harley recasts, but Sarah would've been better as Cassie as I would've loved to see her and KZ together. I think they would've tore the house down.

I forgot Beth Ann was supposed to be on GL before it went belly up. She might've reestablished the spunk that was lost in Michelle once JBL left the role. But I would've wanted her in a more b*tchy role as she played such a sap on OLTL. I would've liked for her to have been Dorrie, which would've opened the door for India to return.

DAYS: December 2024 Discussion Thread
Absolutely. They could've drawn out Julie's grief before the funeral a bit longer. Added a few more beats. It could've given SSH more material, as they could've used those days for everyone to come in and have 1 on 1s with Julie about Doug. Then the day of the funeral could've simply been about Hope and Julie coming to terms with Doug being truly gone--as it really doesn't hit until you see that coffin and it being lowered into the ground. Well it's just a prediction but it doesn't seem farfetched. Again, I think it would've been more impactful had a grown Douggie LeClaire came to town causing a ruckus for Hope and Julie versus his son.

DAYS: December 2024 Discussion Thread
OK. I haven't watched DAYS in eons; however, I finally sat and watched the memorial episodes for Bill Hayes and yikes...😬 I will say that the actual funeral and flashbacks were perfect. And Susan Seaforth Hayes and Kristian Alfonso drew at my heartstrings over their grief. That aside, let's get to the rest... Who was in charge of the plotting and dialogue for these episodes? They need to be stoned. It felt like a cheesy spoof of soap operas. I didn't like Jack finding Doug deceased. It would have been more impactful had it simply been Julie. Of the death episodes, I do love Eli/Julie's relationship. I have always since the last I watched. It didn't feel organic when moving toward the actual funeral episodes (aside from the funeral itself). For instance, Maggie referring to Marie by her full name was odd as if they weren't family for 30+ years. Also, the two bumping into each other at the town square. I feel like Maggie would've known Marie was coming, as she's still in the Horton family loop. Marlena & Liz's conversation was choppy, too. I assume the dialogue was supposed to educate newer fans, but that's what history books and forums are for. I don't mind a history nugget here or there but I felt a lot of interactions were rehashing the returning characters' history and ties to people. Then Steven, a 60+-year-old man climbing through a window? What?! I think having him pop up to the reunion and surprise Julie would've been more realistic. Hope missing her dad's funeral b/c Bo had a spasm is stupid (as well). There's no way Hope would not attend his memorial service. The introduction of Doug III was rushed and cliche. Yes, I like the nod that Doug III will be a con man much like his grandpa; however, it would've been better to have him pop up in town a while after the memorial. Furthermore, I feel it would've been more impactful had they simply brought Douggie back instead. Overall, I am glad that it'll give Julie something to do going forward. I did love seeing Lucas, as I always felt DAYS should be propping Lucas up as the male lead of this show. But whatever. This is why DAYS needs to stop filming months ahead and revert to 2-3 weeks of filming ahead (from the airdate) like all the other shows. And yes, I get DAYS is on a shoestring budget and is limited to much, but I see the potential for it to be good. They simply need to stray from the cliched antics and ramp it up. You're on Peacock! DAYS should be giving traditional soap but with no hold-barred.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Kathy (in my opinion) is doing that to get the stench off of herself from the Paris show on Peacock. While I didn't watch it in its entirety, Kathy didn't come off as great to those who could read between the lines. Kathy isn't the quirky, loveable idiot she likes portraying herself as. I think she might be more calculating than we think...

This would be a phenomenal idea. Jessica was so pivotal in Marland's era that it would be enough to fill the time before the premiere of BTG. Also, they can have Tamara Tunie host the special and give an insight of those scenes. She can also tease BTG too. This list is too Snyder heavy for me with ATWT. If they were to go the route I suggest, I want each episode to be Hughes-focused, and I'd prefer episodes to be from anything pre-2006 with the exception of the final episode, which I'd show the week leading up to the premiere of BTG. Also, I feel like those episodes are the go to episodes when they show classic ATWT episodes. I wouldn't mind them showing episodes from Lisa's time at the Willows. Some episodes from 84 to 85, which aren't heavily accessible on YT at the moment. A few of Marland's final episodes. And then toss in 1-2 episodes from Hogan Sheffer's era. With GL, it'd strictly be ANYTHING pre-1994 with the exception of Annie's "miscarriage" and the final episode (like ATWT) being show the week before BTG's premiere.
