Y&R: Old Articles
Jen has just had a mastectomy so is in a very vulnerable state. Following the news that he and Lorie are siblings Mark coldly tells her they cannot marry, leaving Lorie devastated. Lance had been introduced as an admirer of Leslie as an artist. Leslie's husband Brad won't accompany her to the Dallas concert as he has health concerns (onset of blindness, which he wants to keep from Les) Lance throws the party we see. Following this Lance and Les discuss Brad, and agree he is a special guy.Les says Lance is also and they almost kiss.

Y&R: Old Articles
Thank you for the 75 episode. Hope there's more to come. We had that typical Bill Bell twist of the blood test mixup where it was all going in one direction and then they had the rug pulled out from under them. What impressed me was the set for Lance & Leslie - it looked better than some of the sets used today. Even Lorie's apartment (although basic)looked more realistic than today's efforts. Consider the hideously decorated apartment Phyllis lived in. Gotta love Janice going all Liza and working the room. And we got end credits!

Lew continues his sleazy ways for some time, juggling 2 older women on the show. At some point in the writer merry go round coming up Lew becomes Luke and a much more upstanding citizen. I wonder if the name change is part of him cleaning up his act? So DePriest introduced all of the Dacys except Barney. There was earlier discussion about this. De Priest is hinting at Matt/Nola as you suggest but Marland arrives soon and stories/motivations change. Marland said in hindsight he should have wrapped up the Joan/pull the plug story straight away but he was too inexperienced to realize at the time that if a story is not working, better to ditch it quickly and move on.

Looking at Les Damon's many roles thru the 50's, I wondered why it all stopped in 1960. So to Google to discover Mr Damon died of a heart attack aged 54 in 1962. He worked in primetime 1960-62.

One Life to Live Tribute Thread
Thanks for your comments vetsoapfan. I agree re AW OK, Gary Tomlin was not familiar with JC, but surely others at AW and P&G should have informed him about her importance to the show. Apart from hair and wardrobe JC was still an attractive woman and viable leading lady. Thinking back to that time, what stories and characters could Alice have been involved in? Did they acknowledge her past with Mac?

Re JC I wonder how she felt about going from being one of the 'Queens of Daytime' and making that move to OLTL ,stepping into a front burner story and then by the early 80's seeing Pat slowly diminished in story importance and given a low key exit. Then returning to AW where she formally reigned supreme and given virtually no story, leaving after a year and doing a short stint on Loving. Maybe she was fine with it all...but understandable if there was some resentment there. PS On a shallow note, I don't think she did herself any favors by going with that short haircut.

Another World Discussion Thread
Thanks for posting. This was a few months into Margaret DePriest's stint. Sure, it wasn't perfect but she had set up a good family structure with the Loves and McKinnons. Any older viewers tuning in would probably only recognize Rachel and Ada. Part of this revamp should have included returning the Matthews to some prominence as they did later on. Unfortunately, most of these characters were gone in a couplee of years and the show had to rebuild again Quinn, Maisie, Cheryl, Scott, Nancy, MJ etc all had heaps of story ahead of them but were dropped for other new characters Not the way to build viewer loyalty. PS The Cory set looked way more lavish than its replacement. All it needed was some redecorating. I wonder why it was dropped? Maybe took up too much space in the studio?

Jennifer Reilly was a disaster. She stumbled over her lines, missed cues, looked at cue cards and had no physical or vocal nuance. I actually felt sorry for the poor girl. She probably was carried off the set mumbling incoherently...
