  1. Whenever that starting playing, you knew some sexy time was about to take place
  2. Anyone remember the Y&R soundtrack album from the mid 1990s?
  3. Was this Suzy Cote's last episode? She would've been the first long time (as in 3 or more years) cast member to depart under JFP's watch if I'm not mistaken. I remember Samantha Marler was gone after the Daniel St. John storyline ended. I'm thinking the character might have gotten a mention of leaving town to attend law school but not a full exit storyline.
  4. Many B&B viewers (myself included at one time) point to the crossovers as the turning point but it really was the arrival of Sally Spectra. Building a business and family around her breathed new life into a show that started out as pretty much a clone of 1970s Y&R.
  5. David Tom looks better than he did when he returned to Y&R. He turns 40 next month.
  6. Some collector out there might have Eric Braeden's first episode. The original airdate we now know was Friday February 8, 1980.
  7. Yeah it was. I haven't seen the full episode, only a clip from a promo that was on YT. I remember there were rumors about Bill Bell and Aaron Spelling having beef in the late 1990s, around the time of the Hunter Tylo lawsuit. There was also actor swapping between Y&R/B&B and Spelling's shows of the time.
  8. Not sure if it's been mentioned here yet, but Melina Kanakaredes is part of the cast of the new Fox medical drama, The Resident.
  9. Interesting that you brought up Alexis Carrington, because when I watched the 1984 episodes I got the impression Bill Bell was attempting to create his own Alexis in Dina. Think about it. Dina walks away from her husband and children and lives a jet set life, then remarries a wealthy man, eventually becomes widowed, and inherits a corporation.
  10. The beginning of the eternal quadrangle and the eternal feud...
  11. Phillip Chancellor II was part of the canvas for only 2 years. John Considine originated the role in 1973. Donnelly Rhodes took over in 1974 and remained until the character was killed off in 1975.
  12. It was posted in the "They Almost Became" thread that GL offered the role of Buzz Cooper to Terry Lester but he turned it down and instead took Royce on ATWT. Perhaps Justin Deas wasn't GL's original choice but his casting was another Friend of Jill incident.
  13. 2018 will also have two other sad GL-related anniversaries: May 2 will be 10 years since Beverlee McKinsey passed away, and December 6 will be 20 years since Michael Zaslow passed away.
  14. Canadian media broke the news earlier today. https://globalnews.ca/news/3953303/donnelly-rhodes-dies-at-80/
  15. Agree with all of this. If P&G were the ones behind replacing Robert Calhoun w/ JFP, then that was one of the worst decisions they ever made. Yes, JFP's first year saw a ratings increase, but as we all know she did long term damage that GL never really recovered from.
  16. Sadly so many of them were overlooked when the Daytime Emmy Awards rolled around.
  17. So we've almost reached the first 6 months of JFP's run. January-August 1992 have some good stuff, but sadly we know the momentum doesn't last. From what I could find online, JFP's run was a little less than 4 years, July 1991 to May 1995.
  18. Taye Diggs was on The Talk this past Friday and Sheryl Underwood brought up his time on GL; she mentioned his character's name was Damian Sugar Hill. I thought Taye Diggs's GL character was named Adrian. I never saw Taye Diggs's GL episodes when they originally aired (1997 I think), only bits and pieces online.
  19. Thank you @ltm1997 and @YRfan23 :bighug A lot more action/adventure than usual. Then again it was the mid-1980s and pretty much every show jumped on the action/adventure/supercouple bandwagon to some degree.
  20. Full season ahead http://variety.com/2017/tv/news/dynasty-full-season-order-the-cw-1202610466/
  21. So in 2006 the B&B cast boasted the likes of Jack Wagner, Lorenzo Lamas, Antonio Sabato Jr., and Mario Lopez all at the same time
  22. I watched last night to see what the new Dynasty would be like, and it's like a white version of Empire crossed w/ Maria Arena Bell's version of Y&R's Newman family.
  23. Bill Bell's most notable are Jill and Brooke, and to a lesser extent Nina and Sharon. Bradley Bell used that element for Amber and MAB used that element for Chloe.
  24. Bill Bell took qualities from the Foster and Prentiss sons and used them on B&B for the Forrester sons: Ridge, a Snapper/Lance hybrid, and Thorne, a Greg/Lucas hybrid. Funny that John McCook played one of the Prentiss sons and then the father of the Forrester sons.
  25. Not just the cast purge, but the EP change as well. John Conboy left for Capitol and H. Wesley Kenney took over, having previously worked with Bill Bell at Days. 1983 was also a bit of transition, as there were some major cast changes that year too: Andrea Evans replaced Lilibet Stern as Patty, Tracey Bregman arrived as Lauren, Brenda Dickson returned as Jill. I know Deborah Adair joined the cast of Dynasty in 1983, but did she leave Y&R by her own choice or was she terminated in order for Brenda Dickson to return? The 1982-1987 period really set in motion a lot of what is still felt today, mainly the eternal triangle (quadrangle really) and the eternal feud. I don't know if anyone else agrees with me, but I feel that it was H. Wesley Kenney that laid all the groundwork for Y&R's rise to #1 but Ed Scott that ended up getting all the credit. Granted, I didn't see a lot of the 1980s live as my Y&R watching then was limited to school breaks so I'm going by what I remember live, what I saw years later online, and from recap archives/books/soap magazines.
