  1. The Izaiah actor is giving me fake ass Shemar energy. Perhaps Jacob/Izaiah might be educated professional/troublemaking brothers with a contentious relationship in the vein of early Neil/Malcolm.
  2. Agree. That storyline was a James Bond/Raiders of the Lost Ark mashup.
  3. B&B hit a lull from when the Catalina crossover ended until Ridge/Brooke beach wedding. Taylor the Desert Princess was cheesy and offensive and has not aged well.
  4. I did not like Ridge taking advantage of Caroline after she had overindulged in champagne, especially when considering she had been raped a year earlier. In Bill Bell's defense that was during the writer's strike so who knows if it was even his idea. I only recently discovered that Thorne shooting Ridge in the aftermath of finding out that Ridge and Caroline became involved and then not remembering the shooting was a redo of a Bill Bell Days storyline.
  5. Who's to say how long Bill Bell would've continued writing B&B if not for his health issues. My guess is that he probably would've written the first 10 years and if there was an expansion to 1 hour he would've passed the reins to Bradley then.
  6. LOL at Chelsea rolling her eyes at Andre and Dani.
  7. You're welcome @JoeCool Angela Lansbury had a career ranging from Golden Age Hollywood to Broadway to television, but for me her two signature roles will always be Jessica Fletcher and Mrs. Potts.
  8. Today (October 16) would have been Angela Lansbury's 100th birthday. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/tv/articles/contributor-still-lot-learn-angela-100000186.html https://playbill.com/article/remembering-angela-lansbury-on-her-100th-birthday
  9. Oh she did, but that's neither here nor there for this thread.
  10. Hayley worming her way into the Hamilton family lives is giving me feels of Brooke worming her way into the Forrester family lives.
  11. You're welcome @soapfan770 NBC got too overconfident and they messed up Friday in 1986/87 with the move of Miami Vice to 9 pm head-to-head with Dallas. L.A. Law did not do the job at Friday 10 pm that NBC wanted it to (clobber Falcon Crest) so L.A. Law got moved to Thursday 10 pm where it ended up further weakening Knots Landing. It will forever not be funny that L.A. Law first Thursday episode was Jeanne Cooper first appearance as Gladys Becker. I see what you did there NBC, you're not fooling me. CBS messed up Thursday in 1986/87. 8 pm Simon & Simon was DOA head-to-head with The Cosby Show and CBS thought 9 pm Knots Landing would finish off The Colbys but it was instead weakened by Cheers. Eventually Simon & Simon moved back to 9 pm and Knots Landing moved back to 10 pm but the damage was already done.
  12. In the grand scheme of things, you're probably right. I shudder at the thought of Bradley writing for Caroline.
  13. Sharon Case looks over-surgeried and over-injected plus her voice has changed.
  14. Caroline death was sad but Joanna Johnson was irreplaceable. She was so natural and real in the role and it all worked out in the end as she went on to have success in her post-B&B writing and directing career.
  15. RIP Heather Hill and thank you for your contributions to daytime television.
  16. The Fate of Ophelia is Taylor Swift's 13th #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Among solo artists, Taylor Swift has moved past Madonna and is now tied with Michael Jackson and Drake. The next solo artist in line for her to tie with is Rihanna (14). Among all artists, Taylor Swift is the 6th artist to reach 13 #1s on the Billboard Hot 100, joining The Beatles (20), Mariah Carey (19), Rihanna (14), Michael Jackson (13), Drake (13). Comparing Taylor Swift to the other solo artists w/ 13+ #1s to see where she ranks in terms of length between first #1 and 13th #1. The dates are when each song reached #1. Rihanna: 7 years 222 days, between SOS (May 13, 2006) and The Monster (December 21, 2013). Mariah Carey: 7 years 292 days, between Vision of Love (August 4, 1990) and My All (May 23, 1998). Drake: 12 years 335 days, between What's My Name (November 20, 2010) and First Person Shooter (October 21, 2023). Taylor Swift: 13 years 47 days, between We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together (September 1, 2012) and The Fate of Ophelia (October 18, 2025). Michael Jackson: 22 years 323 days, between Ben (October 14, 1972) and You are Not Alone (September 2, 1995).
  17. I loved that Andre called out Hayley on her nonsense. We all know Hayley is all about the come up.
  18. I think some names thrown around in the soap press were Genie Francis and Tonja Walker but I could be mistaken. My theory is that Bill Bell realized he rushed into recasting Y&R Ashley (Eileen Davidson didn't get a proper exit storyline and Brenda Epperson floundered for her first 6 months) so he decided to kill off Caroline and replace her role on the show with Taylor.
  19. You loved the 1999 opening credits diva hair toss even more JW is four months away from turning 80 and she looks great.
  20. You're welcome @Paul Raven 1984/85 the primetime soaps pulled out all the stops to out-do each other and that also played a part in them tanking during 1985/86. CBS had bigger things to worry about: too many one season and done shows leaving them with lots of space to fill, lack of success with sitcoms. 1984/85 Simon & Simon weakened a bit and Cheers showed growth so maybe ABC thought The Colbys would be good counterprogramming. As we all know, 1985/86 Cheers took off and clobbered Simon & Simon, thus The Colbys was pretty much DOA once it was regularly scheduled Thursday 9 pm.
  21. Silk Press Sheila vs. Nicole and Anita, bring it.
  22. A couple of 1986 articles re primetime soaps tanking that I don't think have been posted here before. I've quoted them in case the links end up having paywalls. PRIME-TIME TV SERIALS LOSE EDGE - The New York Times SOAPS NO LONGER CLEANING UP WITH NIGHTTIME VIEWERS – Chicago Tribune
  23. CBS/P&G were shaken by 1978-1982 ABC big three huge rise and domination, thus the changes to the shows.
  24. The Fate of Ophelia has such a familiar 1990s sound but I can't place it. I don't think it has a sample of any 1990s song though.
  25. AFAIK only two 1977 episodes and a partial 1978 episode have surfaced.
