Why aren’t you HW of this show? 🙂🙃 it’s pretty disgusting and preposterous really. 20 years ago Nick betrayed Victor and got Victor sent to arrested/jailed yet we have Nick grandstanding…?

A good story for Nate would be realizing the business world is his bones and after a call with Olivia he realizes his heart will always be medicine so he becomes a general practitioner. Audra finds Nate’s new confidence and returning to his true calling sexy and they finally end up in bed together to Kyle & Tucker’s shock. At least the doctor job would be different with everyone seeming to be a corporate CEO these days that almost everyone has now except for Sally, Chelsea, Chloe for their über successful interior decorating business while I guess Michael, Heather, and Christine are the town lawyers…? I don’t even know what Tessa and Mariah do for work anymore. Yeesh. Gone are the days when characters worked a variety professions. It’s wayyyyy overdue to be honest. For years I loathed that Jill always favored fraudulent Cane instead of dealing with Billy, which made zero sense.

Question—In Eric’s moment of flashbacks of “happy memories”, why was his interrupted 1997 wedding with Stephanie one of them? Did he forget about the scandalous picture of him that fell out of the Bible? 🤣🙈🙈🤣

CBS Daytime
Back in the 70’s and 80’s, yes there some markets in the Mountain Time Zone which ran the CBS daytime feed live, meaning of course soaps like LOL, SFT, Y&R, and the first half of ATWT ended up airing before noon. There was some delayed programs along with some entire pre-emotions especially with LOL and SFT of course. By the 90’s and 00’s is where the situation got odd as many big Mountain time zone markets-Denver, Salt Lake City, Albuquerque, Boise, Billings, Colorado Springs etc ran the CBS daytime out of order. Y&R airing at 10AM based off the 11AM CT feed, day behind ATWT in the mornings, TPIR in the afternoon. Looking at those schedules is often surreal. In the case of KELO you mentioned to answer your question yep in the western half of the state on MT their satellite station KCLO aim Rapid City ran their daytime line-up 9AM-2PM, with Y&R airing at 10AM based off the 11AM feed. Of course this happened to ABC and NBC stations as well running live ET feeds so their soaps ran earlier as well. For example when I moved to Albuquerque in 1997 the local NBC station ran Days at 11, AW at 12, and Beach at 1PM; the El Paso station did the same with Days and AW but ran Beach at 10AM instead. The local ABC station ran AMC at 11AM as well.

I don’t know if I would if I compare GL’s final 15 years to AW’s final years, mainly because GL still had bursts of creative energy, publicity, and/or made some inroads on getting ratings gains there 1997-99, 2002, 2004-06, and even fall of ‘07 when GL beat a destitute Days for weeks on end. Not to mention GL at least maintained some semblance of its past to at least 1980ish and still kept a lot of familiar characters/faces into its final decade. I didn’t feel GL was really limping until the Conboy/Weston debacle and the drastic 2005 budget cuts. @wonderwoman1951Thank you for sharing that article I thoroughly enjoyed the read. Now I want to go back and see if I can figure out who Raul played as an longtime recurring extra. I hated that ugly green makeover they gave Cedars in 2006 it didn’t even look like a hospital set lol.

B&B/Y&R: Upcoming December 2023 Spoilers
Who exactly owns these days anyway, just Sharon? I remember for a while it kept trading hands between Nick & Sharon, Mac & Kevin, I think even Amber…? Yikes. Let us not forget everyone gathered at Crimson Lights for Christmas 2014 to save it from Victor’s wrecking ball…to which Victor had a change of heart and agreed that Crimson Lights should last forever 🤣🤣🤣 In regards to the Eric’s death spoilers, there widespread speculation that Finn is going to going to save Eric’s life based on his research.

LIFETIME: "Ladies of the 80's: A Diva's Christmas"
Awww what a cute movie. Holy cow though Christopher looked like he was 90 years old and sun burnt. Loni did rock that silver hair for real; the wig made her look like Linda Evans. What kind of soap opera was Great Lakes supposed to be anyways lol? Sounded like a mashup of GL, Days, PC, with a Loni’s character being a nod to Susan Lucci. Having a live Christmas episode and then becoming a reality soap…please don’t give RC and JG ideas 🤣

Y&R November 2023 Discussion Thread
I had just wished for a bond between Diane and Summer that drove Phyllis even crazier 🤣 And thanks haha I felt like I missed a beat somewhere. I knew I watched those scenes where Kyle had an abrupt awkward “change of heart” while arguing with Billy while Audra had Kyle in the palm of her hands and called Tucker at the same time. This is where I wish the show hadn’t dropped Noah and Allie.

Y&R November 2023 Discussion Thread
Thanks I hadn’t seen it before either….as brutally nasty as Tucker was he also came off as so childish lol. How many glasses of wine/whiskey has Tucker smashed or hurled now? 🤣 Kyle’s story is so confusing though about which side he’s actually on. I forgot how much I missed Diane and Summer having scenes together I wished they had teamed up better to take down Audra together.

Had we seen that flashback before? I didn’t recognize it. I know what happened to Tucker and Ashley has been a bit of mystery aside from these flashbacks. It was pretty brutal of Tucker to be that nasty.

Ah Thursday’s episode was a nice welcome return to Abbott family drama. However this show is still filling time with those black & white art house flashbacks? Josh sucks at everything doesn’t he?

Y&R November 2023 Discussion Thread
I ended up FF’ing through some scenes lol couldn’t handle the screen chewing and non-performances of this Jordan mess. @YRfan23 this whole thing reminded me of the Sarah Smythe story the show did in 2010, and that’s not a good thing. 😂🤣 Nate and Audra totally should have staged takeover of Newman with Tucker in the absence of the Nemans. A bit off to see Billy, Nate, and Audra fret in Crimson Lights when really it should have been Sharon, Summer and Adam while they filled in a clueless Abby.

Wings Hauser has always struck me as a washed up never has been especially with the string of D-movies he did in the late 80’s. Have to agree with @SoapDope about him looking seedy. Houghton, Kerwin, and McGillin are all more recognizable names than Wings, who’s own son at least has some talent.

Y&R November 2023 Discussion Thread
🤣🤣🤣 I’ve missed your Y&R commentary as it’s always spot on. It’s how I survived the days of Upchuck Pratt 😂 This show has really failed the next generation of Newmans. We finally have a Summer who could be a leading heroine and now she’s banished to a triangle that is an afterthought. As for Claire I don’t see her having a long shelf life either. The whole trend of a psycho character being connected and/or related to a established character or family started back in the days of Kevin, and most of them have ended up dead in the end anyways.

Y&R November 2023 Discussion Thread
I had to double check today to make sure I wasn’t watching Days 🤣 Today’s 11/28 episode reminds me that while don’t mind an occasional campy story, there has got to be some entertainment value to it. Of course Josh Griffith is boring not an entertaining writer. Instead we got a laughable mess of EB, JM, JEP, and AH all making silly dance moves to show the effects of the poison as a lifeless Hayley Erin gave a boring and odious soliloquy, only to be interrupted by the Jordan who very ineptly revealed her actual deception, just like a silly villain in a kids cartoon would do. Of course I might be more forgiving if Nick dies in a shocking secret unspoiled twist, but we know it’s just a cheap November sleeps stunt. This show should’ve pulled a Days with ED and asked HT to play Victoria for these episodes. MTS was the one bright spot, CZ is fun to see again but there’s not much here, and while I’m glad to see Peck again he does come off a bit rusty. I hope he is given more to do than this.

I do wonder how much influence Bell, who was in Chicago, had in some of those early castings. I seem to recall Bell didn’t know who Braeden was until he saw him on air a few weeks into the role. That said I wonder how many others on Y&R ended up getting the wrath of Conboy like poor Stauffer did.

Y&R: Old Articles
At @Paul Raven thanks for sharing, I remember seeing this somewhere before, maybe back 500 pages in this thread lol. The Scott Adams character is only mentioned the 1978 synopsis. Snapper set up Nikki with the young intern only on Casey's permission. Nikki couldn't believe he wasn't just interested in her body and felt she was no good to him; Scott convinced her she could be the woman for him if she could change, if she really wanted to. Nikki tried her best with Scott until she slept with her college professor for a grade. Nikki almost dropped out and was going leave town but Brock convinced her to stay in town and in college. Scott is never mentioned in the 1979 synopsis at all; I’m going to guess Stauffer never shared scenes with MTS in the role of Nikki. Interesting situation, sounds like typical Conboy diva behavior. But it sounds like Scott’s story pretty much ended and was only a minor character with nowhere else to go. Interestingly Stauffer later appeared again on Y&R in 1987 in another minor role must have been no hard feelings.

I remember Brandon Stoddard (under a an anagram pseudonym of course) was made a nasty antagonist executive in that Making of A Guilty pleasure TV movie in 2005 🤣 FWIW, when Dex and Alexis fall off the balcony you can see the stage team’s hands ready to catch them below 🙈

Dynasty Discussion Thread
Frankly it was a major misstep on the part of Paulsen for allowing Dynasty to end the way it did. First, Paulsen should have been very familiar of how a similar Nazi treasure story flopped at FC during his Lorimar days. Second I know there were Season 10 plans with JC not being included and wanting to bring back Dominique, but Dynasty was flailing in the wind in the ratings; no one got a hint to at least a season finale that settled everything but also left open ended?

Dynasty Discussion Thread
There was well written opinion piece about Dynasty’s Season 9 under David Paulsen several years back I may need to dig it up if I can. Obviously having Sable and Monica on the show was definitely a shot in the arm for the show as Beacham stole the show as was the Roger Grimes mystery as it directly involved all the characters. There were some downsides; for me Adam became a complete caricature if he wasn’t already. Sammy Jo became very isolated and her final story with Tanner was cute but felt like an afterthought. Finally, I found it a bit much that as the glitzy 80’s era were over Dallas, FC, and KL chose to have low-key cliffhangers to end the 88-89 season, Dynasty went out in a full blaze of glory with all the over the top Cliffhangers in the series finale.

Nice to see PlutoTV has made it to Season 9 (“No Bones about it” is on right now) and Amazon Prime has it back on again. It’s been years since I did a full rewatch, and I mainly remember Seasons 1-4 and 9 the most. Still to this day never understood why Fallon’s UFO story was carried onto the main show lol. There are still jokes about it in Season 9, yikes!
