I’m sure it’ll come with time. Being foisted on the world stage in such a weird way can’t be easy, especially at her age. She’s gotten a lot of love and support, and her press appearances since have been well-received, but this whole situation has been somewhat traumatic in its own way. (The press is making it worse, of course, but they’ll continue down that path until Naomi wins another big tournament. OR she simply has to be forceful and say she’ll no longer respond to questions about the USO.) We don’t know what her mental health status is, and she’s stated that the months following Indian Wells were difficult for her. BUT anyway. She’s doing ok if her career is any indication. First WTA player in a while to back up a maiden GS title with a final in her next tournament. That’s a big deal.

BBCA is pushing the global simulcast for the season premiere, which airs at 1:45 pm ET next Sunday. I think they know they’ll be killed on Sunday during primetime (I’m not sure they’ve even announced a regular time slot), presumably as The Walking Dead premiere (with Andrew Lincoln’s last episodes) and NFL suck all of the air out of the evening. And in their post-premiere press release, they’ll push some BS about the cumulative viewership between the afternoon and nighttime broadcasts.

Freema was the ONLY good thing about New Amsterdam. We’ve seen it all before with that show. It’s really nice to see her, Billie, and Karen, who were all pretty green (though all charismatic) when they started on DW, develop successful, varied careers. I’m really not impressed with the BBC’s marketing around the new season. I know they are trying to grab a new audience, as they do after any regeneration because it’s a fresh start for viewers, but it feels a bit forced

Annnnnnd Monica Puig has beaten Wozniacki for the second time this year. Not a single top 10 player left in Wuhan with Kvitova and Kerber out as well. It’s late in the season so a lot of the top players are beaten up, but it’s the trend. With Muguruza falling to Siniakova, Ash Barty (16) is the only remaining seed, period.

Freema’s on New Amsterdam premiering tonight and I read a review that said the show should be about her character, not Ryan Eggold’s.
