  1. Karlovic beat Coric in the all-Croatian match. Seems like Borna hasn’t been as sharp this year. I’m missing the Venus/Kvitova match, which just went to a third. And Gunneswaran is a set up on Basilashvili.
  2. Somehow I knew this would happen.
  3. I’ve been in that side of the business, so I know how hesitant certain reporters can be to dig. But the bigger outlets (like the NYT) usually do ask those questions. They might not get the answers, but they usually ask and note a lack of candor. Everyone knew something went down, and Holofcener left the project right after JM did, so I thought maybe someone pulling the purse strings could have forced them out. For Julianne to be as blunt as to say she was fired by Holofcener (and to add she hadn’t seen the film), while not earth-shaking, is decently big news, especially for someone of JM’s caliber. Anyway, I feel like I’ve veered far away from my original point, which is that Andy gets decent scoops from time to time, even inadvertently.
  4. Perhaps. I don’t know any of them personally so....
  5. Not saying Andy Cohen is Barbara Walters (he wishes), but the looser format of his show sometimes allows for scoops about stories that had been glossed over. If no one dared to ask her about what actually went down on “Can You Ever Forgive Me?” before that random caller, that’s crazy. Now if she’d been asked previously and deflected so as not to steal any thunder from the film and Melissa during awards season, that’s different. Maybe she only now felt comfortable to say something.
  6. I wondered what went down with that, with Julianne and Nicole Holofcener both off that movie. Every interview I’ve read with Melissa McCarthy about how she came to replace JM talks around that whole ordeal. Say what one will about Andy, but he gets the scoop.
  7. I can’t watch soaps or tennis atm, but I heard Serena/Vika was a barn burner. Vika can be grating with all her shrieking (and her antics, like in the Sloane match in Melbourne years ago, with that BS MTO), but she’s a fighter, and I’ve always appreciated that.
  8. SMILF has been cancelled at Showtime due to Frankie Shaw’s misconduct allegations. (Not sexual harassment in the sense we normally see, but one of the allegations was that she reportedly demanded that video monitors be turned on during a closed-set sex scene, which was in breach of an actress’s contract.) https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/smilf-canceled-by-showtime-probe-creator-frankie-shaws-alleged-misconduct-1177459
  9. Has Paul Annacone had a successful partnership with someone not named Sampras or Federer aka people who’d likely be successful without his coaching? Giiiirl, Kasatkina.
  10. She’s definitely got a coked-up cadence.
  11. Those two twits (especially Azriel) were disrespectful af. Gayle has the patience of a saint sitting through that, along with R. Kelly’s craziness.
  12. It’s horrible when someone so insane gets that entrenched in your life.
  13. Idris Elba is replacing Will in the next Suicide Squad movie. If anything, they should switch roles (even though Idris still isn’t what I think about when I think Richard Williams, he’s got a much broader range than Will.) I’ve also heard SamJack, Don Cheadle, and Mahershala thrown out there, if they want a name for the role. But this would be great:
  14. Gayle King got the first interview, and wow:
  15. Video of Kelly addressing Luke’s passing on her morning show at link:
