  1. You know, I’d never seen the early 1980 episode in which Luke taunts Laura at the disco by playing Herb Alpert’s “Rise”—the song he raped her to—because he was jealous that Scotty was kissing her. So disgusting.
  2. Skins was my jam initially. Crazy how many stars that show created: Dev Patel, Nicholas Hoult, Daniel Kaluuya, Jack O’Connell, Kaya Scodelario, Hannah Murray and Joe Dempsie (from GoT). For some reason, I think about the musical sequence a lot:
  3. Andy Cohen says that a “reckoning” is happening on the HW franchises and that there’s an “ongoing discussion” about “integrating” the various series. Quotes at the end of the piece:
  4. I hadn’t seen this. The USO is still on at this point.
  5. I remember a Datalounge thread about actors who always looked old, even when they were young: Angela Lansbury, Max von Sydow, Peter O’Toole. Jeanne Cooper definitely fits the bill. Google “young Jeanne Cooper” and she was always a bit wizened.
  6. I wish that MW site highlighted the interviewer’s questions in bold or something. It’s usually easy to figure out who’s saying what, but still. Like that line about self-indulgence seems like it came from the interviewer.
  7. Oof. As awkward as BC was as Mindy, I just can’t imagine that role working as written even if KS remained in the part. The show had just lost its way on so many levels during the Nick/Mindy years. That’s where my VI dislike began. BC had some very nice things about a former college classmate of mine who passed away from cancer. She seems absolutely lovely and in the right place in her career. Here’s the great Marcy Walker interview about her GL time (and her whole career really) from the old TV Guide website in the late ‘90s. She’s really frank about a LOT of stuff: http://marcywalkeronline.tripod.com/pages/press022.htm
  8. I wish CBS would show the full writing credits for these episodes.
  9. Jeanne’s voice also changed so much from her early days. Her voice was sooo deep, and the pitch went up considerably, likely because of the smoking? But even her cadences changed a lot. I suppose some of that was Katherine becoming a lighter character.
  10. Lauralee was so awkward. So uncomfortable watching her even when she wasn’t speaking. Even in his stillness, you can see how much more engaged EB was in his early days on the show.
  11. Yikes. That’s a lot to bear, and very low and nasty for Ashley to bring up as a casual dig. I also just saw that her ex-husband was abusive. She should stay as far away from this show as possible.
  12. Monique’s obsession with essential oils also reminds me of someone I know. What was the deal with Katie? I remember Ashley saying in S4 that Katie “wasn’t mentally strong enough” to handle this group of women, but watching the Potomac S1 reunion, Katie had one of the most commanding performances I’ve ever seen on a HW reunion. She seemed more than capable of holding her own, unless she had a total breakdown. She lost a baby, I saw, which could cause anyone to have a low moment, but is that what Ashley was referring to? (If true, that’s unbearably cruel.)
  13. Gizelle is a charismatic master manipulator and also sort of fascinating. You could see how she could be a ringleader. Just watched the first part of the S3 reunion, and she seemed genuinely supportive of Karen when she broke down over her father’s death. I want to like Robyn because she seems bright and down-to-earth, but you’re right that she seems to have no mind of her own when it comes to Gizelle. She reminds me a bit of Suzie from Basketball Wives, with Gizelle as her Evelyn. I was going to add that one reason Chris puts up with Candiace is that he can count on her mother paying for everything. Monique is just great. And I think her gay brother is super handsome and sweet.
  14. From Lebanon 🇱🇧
  15. Her “refreshed” look in photos was definitely the talk of Instagram and Reddit. She does look good.
  16. Watching Potomac S3 and I really dislike Robyn, maybe more than I’ve come to dislike Gizelle (who I actually really liked initially and still find entertaining). Her story with Juan is zzzz, and she’s just as messy as Ashley in a lot of ways. But she acts all offended when people come for her money situation. I really wanted Monique (whom I love) to choke her with the umbrella. Monique is great: she typically doesn’t pick fights, but if you start something, she’s going hard on your ass. I don’t know how Chris puts up with Candiace, but what’s good about this show is that you really understand why she is the way she is (her mother is a nightmare). Glad to be filling in the gaps on a show I started in S4 (and fell in love with) with the Darby drama.
  17. Roger’s “Wanna try that again?” from Holly’s perspective after she fights back is actually one of the most chilling things I’ve seen on a soap.
