  1. Totally. And for some us “young’uns” under 50 too. I mean, I still watch, so I can’t act all high and mighty. And time slot wise, it’s the easiest show to make time for (lunch time for me at least). And the show has a lot of familiar faces who aren’t really doing much of anything (like trotting out MTS to be imperious but having zero story of her own). I suppose that’s comforting. I think Y&R has a lot of structural advantages that other shows don’t (one being a TPIR lead-in in many markets). But it’s sad to see the show vibrating at such a low frequency without any hope of change (what huge incentive do they have to make any when the show’s doing pretty well?). There’s actually potential here and money left on the table: we all see interesting stories that they could’ve done but didn’t do.
  2. And yet the show seems to be rating “well,” or at least keeping its head above water, even in the demos? I guess people were enthralled by the Summer/Tara/Kyle “intrigue” and the Mariah kidnapping stories? Maybe there’s a silent offline majority who feels like the show is decent?
  3. Not a lot to talk about tbh. But I’m assuming that if speculation comes true… …we’ll see a short-lived spike in chatter. But in general, no. B&B is comparable, but a half-hour show. It’s sad.
  4. I wonder what antics we’ll see from the NY cast in the off-season to secure their places.

  7. Paris was such a fresh character, but she’s simply grist for the Forrester mill.
  8. I wonder where this leaves them for next season. Sounds like a lot of changes are afoot. Kate Aurthur filed this for Variety, saying “more to come” on this story:
  9. Go for it!

  11. Ah yes. I forgot that she was on vacay. Thanks, y’all.
  12. Where’s Laura? She seems like someone who’d be in attendance.
  13. No argument from me there. I’m just trying to imagine those crying scenes with Jax at the Tan-O with Stafford in the role. My insides are ripping to shreds just thinking about it.
  14. OMG, it would have been tragic. Unwatchable. MS can be very good, even great (albeit not in years), but she doesn’t have that in her.
  15. For some reason, I knew those would be your faves before I scrolled to see your choices.
  16. It is weird they do LOL. Griffith and Valentini seem to want Hallmark level drama. And there's nothing wrong with that level of drama - I just want more for my soaps than building and building a story and then pulling the rug out in the reveal. It doesn't have to be toxic "everyone hates each other" Phelps energy but gimme something. And it is interesting how B&B and DAYS seem to blow the chance for some fallout and real drama and go back to "nothing really mattered" let's move on to the next five minute story while Y&R and GH seem to avoid any real drama even when the story is there and writes itself, you know? I didn't explain that well but I see what you see with them. It's so weird. You explained it perfectly, and I completely agree. “Hallmark-level drama” totally nails it too.
  17. He and Josh Griffith have that in common. Just weird, right? I wouldn’t want to go to the other extreme (where B&B and DAYS often go, with zero consequences or character follow-up), but there are so many dramatic opportunities sitting right in front of them that these shows don’t take.
  18. Totes. Stories are climaxing, and I find myself totally distracted when watching instead of gripped.
  19. Was that Chandler’s actual house in the background? 😂
