Forgive me if this has already been mentioned, as the book was released in 2018, but I just finished reading Michelle Obama’s memoir, BECOMING, and she makes a brief AMC mention (pg. 42):

    Wow, that's cool!

I loved Roark Critchlow as Mike, so I wondered what he looked like. (He’s steadily worked but I don’t remember seeing him elsewhere.) He’s definitely... matured. But, as it’s been like 25 years since he and Carrie got together, dude is almost 60 (he’s around the same age as Michael T. Weiss - which I was semi-surprised to learn as I thought it was a de-SORASing).

OK, so what happened to Roark Critchlow?  I was just on his IG and he is a stuttering mess.  I don't remember him acting this way before.

All My Children wins for ‘Outstanding Daytime Drama:’

I remember this one so well.  I wish the cast got up there, and not just the producers.  In fact, every year after this the whole cast and crew went up there.

This was also the night that La Lucci lost to Slezak and everyone in attendance gave Susan a standing ovation.  Ahhhhhhhh.

So as a young, impressionable man, I always thought Tad/Dixie were THE couple.  I was inspired to find that same love.  Tad was charismatic, Dixie was cute and vulnerable.  They'll always be my #1.  Growing up, I had this very vivid memory of watching Tad and Dixie dancing very provocatively to Michael Bolton's "When a Man Loves a Woman" with my mom one night just before bed - and I've always had in my mind it was Tad and Dixie.  Well, a friend came over and played this song tonight and I decided to Google this clip to see if it was online or not.  I haven't seen it since it aired in 1990-something.  Come to find out, it's online and it wasn't Dixie and Tad.  It was Dixie and Craig!!!  Which, honestly, I loved Dixie and Craig too - they were hot too and I was so sad for Dixie when Tad was blown off that bridge, that I wanted her to find true love.  She was NOT thinking about Tad that night.  Well come to find out, my memory was wrong all along and it was Craig instead of Tad, but this scene on AMC is still truly one of the hottest, most memorable and impressionable scenes as a young man growing up.  Sexier than any Hayley/Mateo beach romp scene that I also loved:

(I don't know how to embed YouTube videos into these posts, but go to that link and watch!  Memories!!!)

OH MY STARS! YES!!!!!! I remember this scene!  It is soft core porn.  Dixie was all horny for Mr. Craig Lawson.  Look how she wrapped her legs around him.  Her vajayjay needed some attention.  Little did she know that Craig was a man whore getting some Gloria vajayjay on the side.

I'll never forget first finding soap message boards and having everyone refer to Erica as the world' oldest shortest supermodel lol god love her. There wasn't anything SL didn't fully commit to.

Hello!  She is Erica Kane!  And, compared to her, we are all filthy beasts!

I thought Michael Sabatino did a fine job in the role.

I believe they briefly had a different actor portray Dr. Kinder originally.

You're right.  There was another actor in the role before MS.  He was kinda bland and the character had no direction.  When MS took over the role, that's when Kinder turned evil.

  7. I love Erica's scenes here at the start of her "return to modeling" storyline.  I remember Agnes Nixon was quoted saying she always intended for Erica to return to modeling.  I wish this return had lasted a bit longer before Erica was injured and turned to painkillers.

Agreed. Maybe not so much metal rod up his ass Travis, but definitely Dimitri. My mom always said she liked Jack with Brooke rather than Erica, and Dimitri was "time enough" for Erica, a better match. As the years progressed, Jack and Erica felt more and more like a default pairing to me. Had Nader stayed on the show, I think Erica and Dimitri would have had the long-lasting on again/off again that Erica and Jack got, but who knows.

Also a shame that Erica miscarried and Dimitri-Erica didn't have a child of their own.  A Kane-Marrick spawn would have provided years of story.  Instead, we got fetus boy

And truthfully, I didn’t like Trevor either!

I liked Trevor.  But the character left a bad taste in my mouth when he ended up forgiving Janet (Jane Cox) for her past misdeeds, falling in love with her, and MARRYING her.  Ugh.  I could not stand the Dillon family as the Brady Bunch.  Made zero sense.

Like I've said numerous times on this board, I'm all for redeeming characters and second chances, but I could not accept the fact that Trevor married the reformed psycho bitch.

Yes, the mugging is unbearable. Sometimes as I get older I think I fell into the trap of rooting for the "bad" or "misunderstood" character (Janet) and being too hard on the "good" character, but no, she still annoys the [!@#$%^&*] out of me.

I hated that character so much.  Laurel lacked a POV when she was played by that very weak blond model/actress.  When La Fortune stepped into the role, the character became worse.  She turned into this mousy, boring person who made my eyes roll every time she was on screen.

So when I was taken to lunch, I was asked "What kind of stories do you like, Cady?" and I was like "You're asking me?" Instead of saying what I should of said, "Whatever she wants to write is going to be great." What I did end up saying was "I like social justice storylines. I really loved anything what Agnes was doing in the 80's with AIDS and homelessness."

And I just watched the writer that shall not be named look at me like she wanted to kill me because she had a story already. It just didn't enter my little pea brain that I was making that story go away by what I was saying. I didn't even realize I had that power at that time. I had no idea.

So am I reading into this correctly?  Was Megan McTavish jealous and threatened by Agnes Nixon and her writing?

Kim Delaney's coming back to daytime after all these years as some damn recast?  I don't think so -- and GH would be fools to go that route, too.

I just can't believe that with all these shows on TV right now -- not just on the networks, but cable and streaming as well -- that she picks this time to return to soaps.  Especially when the genre is on its last legs.  Did she lose a bet or something?

And none of the 40,000 procedurals currently on ABC, CBS and NBC are hiring?

Also, despite the fact that there are a multitude of TV platforms now (broadcast, cable, streaming, etc.) the trend is to hire "movie" stars for those jobs.  Effectively, "TV" actors like Kim Delaney are being overlooked in favor of big name actresses like Reese Witherspoon, Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep.

  13. I never thought I would see her on a soap again (outside of any All My Children reprisals).  Daytime is probably a step down for her given all her primetime success (and the almost rebooted NYPD Blue that did not get picked up), but glad she is employed.

  14. I just realized this guy was on Grand Hotel (Eva Longoria's version).  That was a good show.  Hate that ABC cancelled it.

His follow up statement to soaps.com:

    Quote

I’m ready to go back to my roots for awhile in these tough times and as I would love it to be my home of GH I’m very open to exploring the other shows of the Daytime world.

    Yeah, definitely hurting for work.
