  1. Jamie Sale & David Pelttier (sp?) are getting a divorce :(

I'm not surprised. They never really seemed affectionate towards each other. I know they respect each other and they work well together but I never saw any passion between them outside of their choreographed routines.

  2. Apparently, Mao Asada is about to switch coaches after spending two seasons with Tatiana Tarasova and coming off her win yesterday at World's.

There was speculation that she would do this. TT I know has been ill for some time and hasn't been able to give her students the attention that they require.

Incidentally, did you know that the long program music that Mao skated to was the same piece of music that Michelle Kwan was to skate to at the Torino Olympics, which was also choreographed by TT? I wish we could've have seen that long program of Michelle's.

  3. Thinking about it more, I'm not sure that Evan will continue to compete. Frank Carroll recently announced that he's leaving the Toyota Center in El Segundo and will instead coach out of Lake Arrowhead temporarily until a new facility is built in Cathedral City. The Toyota Center is 10 minutes from where Evan lives and Lake Arrowhead and Cathedral City are about two hours away. Will Evan go through the hassle of commuting or taking up temporary residence at Lake Arrowhead or Cathedral City to continue working with Frank? The same could be asked of Mirai, but she's just starting her career so I don't see her breaking away from Frank.

  4. It was on the Universal Sports Channel, I don't know if they carry that channel in your area. It seems pretty obscure for most people in the US.

I think most cable companies carry the channel. It's part of the NBC/Universal family of channels. They broadcasted some of the Olympic events that weren't shown on NBC.

The good thing is that they carried the figure skating live and not as a primetime event. Good for us, but I guess bad for figure skating that it was banished to an obscure cable channel. Maybe the event will return to primetime if Evan decides to compete next year. He'll be a huge draw.

  5. Mao Asada KICKED ASS!

Her free skate was phenomenal, and she beat Yu-Na by almost 7 points. Though, I was surprised Yu-Na got an extra point over Mao in the free skate scores. Yu-Na didn't seem to come prepared after her Olympic victory.

Mirai Nagasu, sadly, just had a total breakdown. She's still young though and this was her first Worlds.

Anyway, Mao Asada definitely came prepared. She was both artistic and athletic. No one else came close in the free skate. Glad she won.

Yu-Na's skating just seemed so lifeless after her Olympic win. I wouldn't be surprised if she retires soon, she already has an Olympic Gold, and most Gold Medal Olympic winners usually retire and don't defend their win at the next Olympics.

I'm also glad Mao won. I much prefer her skating to Yu-Na. Yu-Na's a great skater, but her artistry seems fake to me. But kudos Yu-Na for not backing out of Worlds because of the fear of tarnishing her Olympic Gold. She will always be the Olympic Champion. Did you hear that Tara Lipinski?

I'm sad for Mirai, but this will be a good learning experience for her. She'll make the podium next year for sure. But it's probably better in the long run that she didn't win. Remember Kimmie Meissner won Worlds immediately after the last Olympics and look what happened to her. She couldn't live up to the hype and she faded into oblivion. What's frustrating is that because of the combined placements of Mirai and Rachel, the U.S. will only be able to send two skaters to Worlds next year. If only Mirai kept it together and didn't have a total meltdown.

  6. Here you go a picture of Centre Court taken during the 2007 Fina Wolrd Swimming Championships.

This venue can do just about anything & everything lol.

I read that this was a temp swimming pool at Rod Laver Arena. How temporary was this pool? Is it readily available now? Did Serena go swimming after she won? I'm confused.

  7. The umpire that was at the end of Serena's outburst will be officating at the Australian open, will they cross paths?

She did umpire at the Medibank tournament in Sydney but weren't on the same court at the same time.

Are you referring to the line judge or the umpire? I would be more interested in seeing her cross paths with the line judge, though I doubt we'll see her in Australia.

  8. Torvill & Dean. Bolero from 1984 Olympics where they won gold, the only one to ever score 6.0 from all judges in any Olympics.

    Torvill & Dean - 1984 Olympics - Bolero - HQ

Torvill and Dean were robbed in 1994. The program they skated at that Olympics, "Let's Face the Music," I thought was their best work.
