I agree. And that's exactly what she should tell Sonny and Carly, too: that she doesn't want them (or Jason) to have any part in how she raises her baby, as Michael is Exhibit A for what happens when you let your child be raised by [!@#$%^&*] sociopaths. TBH, I wouldn't trust this regime to tell an abortion rights story since it's clear they don't even understand how babies are made (hi, Gio, Sasha and Cody!).

That's why it kinds of upset me whenever I hear people in the industry say, "Well, we have to produce more shows in Atlanta/Vancouver/wherever now, because it's so expensive to film in NYC and L.A." I don't doubt that filming or taping in NYC and L.A. can be cost-prohibitive, but I feel it's that way because most productions today are prioritizing the wrong things. They're putting visual spectacle over simple, honest storytelling and blaming shrinking audiences on the fact that there are so many viewing options out there when, IMO, it's REALLY because they've forgotten that their number-one job is to entertain. It goes back to what Bill Bell said: all you need to make good drama are a man, a woman and a waterfall, and who in God's name needs the waterfall!?

People need their stories. They need to see characters going through the same kinds of problems that they themselves are going through, either to learn how to cope with them (or, in certain cases, how NOT to cope with them) or just to know that they aren't alone. It's been that way since men and women first gathered around the fire and talked about their days. Plus, as I've said on many occasions, soap operas, like musical comedies, are a uniquely American artform that should not be allowed to fade away. Maybe these shows don't have the budgets that they used to, but so what? You don't need a lavish budget to tell a story that inspires as well as entertains. You just need good writing and good acting. The rest takes care of itself.

See, I read statements like that, and I think: What would happen if Sasha learns that carrying her baby to term poses a risk to her and/or her unborn child? Would Sasha consider terminating her pregnancy? Would Jason try to stop her? Would that compel Sasha to reveal her baby's real father? And how would Sasha's choice affect everyone around them, once the truth was out? A potentially worthwhile story, considering the times we live in and the fact that this show is called GENERAL. HOSPITAL. Then, I remember how skittish TPTB are these days even to mention the word "smashmortion," and I get sad and angry all over again.

That's exactly why I would pursue a romance between Carly and an African-American male, because LW plays very well with POC; and I would have wanted to explore how those around them feel about the romance, because, even though it's 2025, people still have very mixed opinions about interracial relationships. I feel like that was Patrick Mulcahey's plan, or a large part of it: not to make any sweeping changes, but just to slow everything down enough to where we know WHY characters are doing what they're doing, and not just rushing from one plot point to another. Because, sometimes, that's really all it takes. But, like you said, we'll never know (until someone tracks him down and makes him talk, lol).

Knots Landing
That's one of the things that I loved about the "Who Killed Ciji Dunne?" mystery. For once, the victim wasn't this supremely evil person who had terrorized everyone and given them all motives to kill them. Instead, Ciji was this person who just wanted to be a successful recording artist, but found herself in the middle of all these crazy people with their crazy issues, and who was just plain sick and tired and wanted to be done with all of them. MST3k said it best:

Isn't he expected to retire at the end of his current term? If so, that might explain why.

It's possible Wikipedia isn't wrong in this case, and that Duffy filled in only for one day. But, you know, given that she had just come off of a very successful run on THE DOCTORS, I can't help but wonder if TPTB had her sub for Breech as a sort of test to see whether she could replace her permanently.

Yup! Of course, Frank will try and make the best of what has become a very awkward situation by giving us the hard sell on Carly and nuBrennan. In the end, however, I don't think it'll make a bit of difference. With this last-minute switcheroo, Brennan, along with the planned romance with Carly, is pretty much D.O.A.

I'd still love to know whether "Robert Dwyer" and "Robert Cessna," who worked on THE DOCTORS with Douglas Marland, were, in fact, one and the same. And where was Frank Salisbury during this time? Because, I'm really confused as to whether he joined the Dobsons at ATWT, went with Marland to GL, or remained at GH.

Plus, weren't there hopes (however slim) that LOL would be picked up by another network or sold into syndication? If so, then I could understand why the show chose to end on a cliffhanger that wasn't related to Meg and Van.
