  1. The problem with a lot of sets today - not just on GH, but on TV, in general - is that they don't reveal anything about the person or persons who live there. They're just Wayfair showrooms for actors to use, so they don't have scenes in front of bare walls (which would be an improvement, AFAIC, lol).
  2. That would have been my guess, lol! For me, it was Travis. Now, that's partly because of my long-standing affection for Larkin Malloy, stretching back to GL and, even further, to EON, which was my mom's favorite soap. But I also thought he and Susan Lucci looked good together and shared natural chemistry as Travis and Erica.* So, of course, AMC's writers had to torpedo it as quickly as possible, lol. Before Travis, though, I'd say the pairing I enjoyed most for Erica was with Jeremy. *Of course, Susan Lucci's the type to have chemistry with just about any man. I still remember fondly when Drake Hogestyn was one of her co-hosts at the Daytime Emmys one year, and thinking, "Damn, somebody's gotta get that man off DAYS and on AMC pronto!" I agree. I especially loved her first HW'ing turn, with Victor Miller. There was almost too much story going on at that time - which is bound to happen when you have a cast of 65! - but it still felt like AMC. By the time she was HW'ing again, she did a lot of great work w/ Jeff Beldner, Hal Corley, Frederick Johnson and Michelle Patrick, but the show had changed a lot, so it didn't feel like the AMC I had grown up with.
  3. "Coming this fall to CBS...," lol.
  4. Even conservative, old-fashioned moi was entranced by "Twin Peaks" for a moment as a child, and that's due to David Lynch expanding the boundaries of what could be done on network television. With that show, he created an entirely new visual language that, I would argue, continues to influence TV today. His impact cannot be overstated, nor can it ever be forgotten. RIP Mr. Lynch, and may God be with him and every life that he and his work has touched.
  5. Poor Alan. He tried so hard for so long to show Monica that he (and not Rick Webber) was the man for her.
  6. ICAM!! They also tested Walt Willey with Julia Barr, but that didn't take either. (Besides, I think viewers were just plain sick and tired of Brooke always getting Erica's leftovers). It says something when Phil Hartman, who played a Jack-esque character in that "All My Luggage" spoof on SNL with Lucci, shared more chemistry with her than Walt Willey ever did.
  7. Thanks for reminding me, @Reverend Ruthledge. I forgot about that storyline. I just love that picture of Lezlie Dalton/Elizabeth, Cindy Pickett/Jackie and Don Stewart/Mike. Jackie (and her aviator scarf) are trying their hardest to get something through to Elizabeth and Mike, but Elizabeth's stoned or in a trance and Mike's wondering what's taking the delivery man so long with the pizza.
  8. I hate that they never reunited Monica with any of her biological relatives (other than Lorena Sharpe, I think, who turned out to be so inconsequential to the show). I think it would've been nice if she had encountered a long-lost sibling or even one of her parents at some point.
  9. Thanks for the recap, @gimmetoo!
  10. That would've made sense - not to mention, it would've been more ironic. I wonder, though, if Ed losing his ability to perform surgeries was one of the Dobsons' first stories when they joined the show, or was it one of James Lipton's last?
  11. Susan Moore walked right into that one when she invited Monica to lunch in the first place. What on EARTH possessed that girl to do such a foolish thing anyway? Did she really think she could get through to Monica? Like, you'd have to be pretty [!@#$%^&*] stupid to think that meeting would've gone well.
  12. IIRC (from my reading), it occurred when Ken Norris shot him in a jealous rage.
  13. And, of course, and it probably goes without saying, but he's chatting with the co-creator of Y&R and B&B and wife of none other than Bill Bell.
  14. Between GH, GL and AMC, Susan Pratt is the QUEEN of Hair Don'ts.
  15. What's wrong with Tamara Tunie's dress? I think it looks great, and I think she looks great in it! Most importantly, it's age-appropriate! I'm so tired of seeing 50- and 60-year-old women on daytime being made up to look like they're still in college.
  16. I'm afraid you're going to see a whole lot more of that in the days and weeks to come. We have resigned ourselves to the fact that this is who we are, so, as the saying goes, "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em."
  17. How sad is it that of all the roles that Jack Armstrong has played on television, his role in "Eden" is probably his most memorable (and most likely due to that iconic shot of him in a tight, white speedo)?
  18. It's just incredible to me that DAYS and GH have suffered so many, heavy losses in recent times. It truly feels like the end of an era for both shows.
  19. Maybe it's just my conservative, Midwestern/Great Plains background rearing its' ugly head again, but I can't think of a way to introduce the kind of content that a network like Showtime would've wanted in a soap without it feeling gratuitous and exploitative.
  20. That, too! Although, it was lush compared to "GUIDING LIGHT Goes to Peapack."
  21. If that's why she left AW, then I don't blame her! Everything I've read about the Lenore/Walter/Wayne story sounds stupid beyond belief.
  22. No, you've probably got it right, I'm the one who's getting it all mixed up (and this is so OT, I'm literally dying of laughter, lol).
  23. You know, when I was very, very, VERY young, I used to watch Powers Boothe play Philip Marlowe on HBO, so it was a little weird to see him play someone SO not like Marlowe years later in my high school sociology class. Anyways. Speaking of trash, that's pretty much how I would sum up ANDIE after viewing just one, complete episode: it was trash. I mean, I think Douglas Marland put a ton of great elements into it that, under other circumstances, would have made for a very compelling show. But Marland was let down by the "actors" (not to mention, by the production team, who likely thought his writing was not "sexy" enough and would've turned it into straight-on hardcore porn if given the opportunity).
  24. I've heard that, too, and I think it was Trish Van Devere (whom OLTL canned before the first episode), but I wouldn't quote me on that, lol. Ah! I thought that was how it might've been set up. I know I read somewhere that Agnes Nixon altered some family connections, either because Ruth Warrick didn't look old enough to be so-and-so's mother or grandmother, or Warrick herself had reservations. Thanks, @All My Shadows! The thing is, Joanna Miles might have favored Warrick in terms of looks, but she looks to be more like one of her contemporaries, rather than her offspring. Plus - and maybe this is just me - but she reminded me of Joan Bennett an awful lot; and considering that DARK SHADOWS was still on the network at that time, that might've been ABC's concern as well, lol.
