Next few years? I'll be shocked if gay marriage lasts past 2026, lol. The thing is, I, myself, would not advocate for marriage for anyone, because I think marriage itself has outlived its' usefulness as an institution. BITD, people married for one reason and one reason only, and it wasn't because they were in love, lol.

ALL: They Almost Became
So, the next time you ATWT fans say Christopher Goutman never made one good decision as EP....!

Primetime Soaps
At the time, I thought that, with a little bit more time and retooling, FC could've gone somewhere. But I think it's clear now that neither CBS nor David Jacobs was really into this show. Thanks, @DRW50, for posting these episodes!!

As The World Turns Discussion Thread
I wouldn't have minded Stephen Schnetzer joining ATWT as a new character - maybe as a new love interest for Barbara - but trying to keep AW alive in some form on the other P&G soaps always felt a little cruel to me. Like, if you miss AW so badly, P&G, why didn't you do more to keep it from being cancelled?

Knots Landing
I agree. It made Greg look particularly childish and unattractive.

God knows Dana Sparks is no Robin Wright, but casting her as returning Vickie Gioberti on FC made more sense at that point than simply bringing back Jamie Rose, because, FC itself was much more glamorous than it had been in the beginning. (Plus, I suspect someone like Sparks was cast, because she looked younger than Rose, which, in turn, made Susan Sullivan look younger.)

Dallas Discussion Thread
Granted, the acting on "Three's Company" from everyone besides John Ritter and Don Knotts was never outstanding, but it really takes a special kind of awful to stand out in the wrong way on THAT show.

Let's be honest: the GOP was going to kill the ACA, government shutdown or no government shutdown. I don't blame the Democrats for doing what they could to save it, but as I've said before, they're being naive if they think they can. The GOP is out to delegitimize Barack Obama's presidency and erase him from history; and it's our ignorant asses who gave them the tools to do it. Period.

It's only a matter of time before Frank (and the writers, but mostly Frank) decides to excuse Drew's behavior away with a brain tumor or something.

All I can say to those folks is, "Maybe next time, when we tell you that our democracy is on the line, and the GOP say what they mean and mean what they say, y'all should just shut the [!@#$%^&*] up about Bernie and AOC and vote."

The Politics Thread
Here's my thinking: there hasn't been as much resistance this time around, either because 1) people are just plain burned out by it all, or 2) they've reasoned that resisting just doesn't work with Trump or the GOP, or 3) a combination thereof. I would agree that it all has to play itself out before we get it through our thick-ass skulls, but the truth is, even as I was standing in line for two hours earlier this week for a free pizza (on account of being a SNAP recipient), I knew in my heart that most of the folks standing in line with me would still vote for Trump again if given the chance.

Unfortunately, no apparatus is in place to remind people of that fact loudly and often. Instead, we have a media that will literally Tootsie Roll themselves into the GOP's laps at every opportunity, forcing Democrats to do damage control or play catch-up even when they aren't the ones who need to do it.

Knots Landing
I get why they brought Nicollette Sheridan onto the show, but just imagine if Mack and Anne had had a son instead of a daughter. (Same might go for Greg and Jane).

TBH, I wouldn't have minded seeing Steve Shaw and Pat Petersen replaced with actors who could've worked better in soapier storylines. As it was, they attempted to mold Diana/Claudia Lonow into the new format in seasons 4 and 5, which worked so well that they eventually wrote her out of the show, lol.

I agree. If anything, I wish that there were NO parties. But that will never happen either, lol.

It's scary when you look in a mirror and realize you have the same hairdo as Michele Lee's from 1981.

I agree. True. Even if you left out the daytime soaps, however, Richard and Esther Shapiro's best writing in primetime never matched the high quality that you might have found in other TV movies and series from that day.

God bless Joe Biden and the rest of the Democratic Party, but I believe they vastly underrated the effect that podcasts and social media has had on this country, and on our youths in particular. They still don't realize that the America they believe still exists - that is, if it ever existed - died the same morning those two airplanes crashed into the World Trade Center and killed three thousand people. Those events, on September 11, 2001, exposed us to how vulnerable we truly were to the rest of the world and sowed the seeds of tribalism, cruelty and ignorance that are smothering our government today.

When your viewers can't remember everyone who's in your cast, guess what you've got? That's right: you've got too. Damn. Many. People in your cast.

Why do celebs and others always feel the need to share every life event with the media (including social media)? Whatever happened to maintaining one's private life?

What are you looking for in a soap opera website?
I'd love to see an SON version of the interviews that are available at: https://interviews.televisionacademy.com/interviews The website has interviews with several soap legends, including Bill Bell and Agnes Nixon, but it'd be nice to hear more from industry professionals, both past and present.
