I agree. Her acting in that scene - not to mention, her acting in much of the following season - is OTT. That's why I found it interesting when Michele Lee told Steve Kmetko in his podcast that KL became "less interesting" to her as it evolved. If so, that could explain why she could be so shrill and overbearing at times, lol.

Jane Elliot's the type to have good chemistry with lots of people, lol.

I think the only time Cady McClain has struggled as an actor on soaps was when she had to "play crazy" on Y&R. Psycho hose beast is just not her strong suit, lol.

Excellent point, @prefab1 ! I adore MEK as an actor and always will, but it hasn't escaped me how that man has always struggled to play someone other than Tad Martin. He really was meant to play him forever.

I'm so sorry, @janea4old , Meg's emotional instability affected you so deeply. And I'm thankful, too, that the years have brought you peace and better ways to cope, lol. Tell me, though, did they bring up Meg's issues at all when Scotty returned in '81 as a villain? Did Lee maybe link the changes in his son's behavior to what had happened to his mother?

I find it incredible that a half-hour soap (that isn't EON) even would attempt a story like the psychic spy story, or any action/adventure-type story for that matter. All you have to do is to look at what SFT did so often with Travis and Liza to know that stories that aren't kitchen-sink dramas don't work in a half-hour format. There just simply isn't enough time or resources to do it well. (Of course, I always make the exception for LOVING, because even high romance mixed with action/adventure stuff might've helped them be something other than "Dollar Tree AMC," lol.)

Especially Meryl Streep! Have you seen "Still of the Night"? Oof, lol.

I've been saying for years that giving Alexis daughters was a mistake. She should've had just one son, no mas.

Well, if GH can bring back Jagger Cates as a blue-eyed blonde, then I guess it could bring Zander Smith back from the dead, too.

Hell, anything's gotta be better than 90% of what's on the show right now!

Y&R: December 2025 Discussion Thread
Y&R remains #1 for one reason and one reason only: Eric Braeden. Y&R's core audience doesn't really give a hoot about how bad the rest of the show is; as long as they get to see EB/Victor, they're good.

I forgot to mention before how I learned all about postpartum depression from watching Reva's exit storyline on GL (and again, how my own mother went through it after giving birth to me).

Primetime stars - Their hits and misses...
Oh, I think so, too. I just found it funny that "Happy's Place" is succeeding where "Malibu Country" failed. Like, what was so off-putting to "Reba"/"Happy's Place" fans about "Malibu Country" that they stayed away, lol?

That's what Howarth himself should've said when Josh Griffith offered him his current gig on Y&R. I mean, how many times must you play a rapist before you accept that you've been typecast and probably need to leave the business?

If not for AMC and Erica's pregnancy, I never would've known about toxemia/preeclampsia (or that my own mother suffered with it while pregnant with yours truly).

I agree. Whenever I watch the latter seasons of FALCON CREST, and I see how much Maggie had devolved as a woman, especially once she gets involved with Richard, it makes me wish the producers had put her (and us) out of our collective misery LONG before she drowned in that swimming pool.
