  1. Random thought: I wonder if there's a way to find out ratings for first-run syndication shows. For instance, Baywatch was a monster of a hit in the 90's that aired at all sorts of time slots on any given independent station or local affiliate throughout the USA. Same with all those first-run syndicated sitcoms of the 80's like Small Wonder, and I think Webster, Silver Spoons, and others (I could be wrong on some titles) had their last year or two ran in first-run syndication instead of a network. It'd be interested to see how those fared.
  2. In agreement. Premiere was okay. Nothing note-worthy but mildly enjoyable. And yes, there was something missing (sorry, I think Kenya always nicely rounded out the cast). And YES, too much focus on Porsha, the Atlanta housewife with nine lives on this series. Guess this means she'll still have another 2 seasons after this.
  3. I'm just waiting for the day he's embroiled in his own #MeToo scandal. Surely not *every* 23-year-old NYC prettyboy wants to be starf*cked by a 50 year old man.
  4. Thanks for your continued postings @Paul Raven Us numbers nerds appreciate it. I have a very fat Primetime Television book that covers the Top 30 in primetime ratings from the golden age up until 2007, but it's always nice to see the weekly numbers, especially for the entire lineups.
  5. So, the hubby & I are 3 episodes behind on OC and in no rush to catch up... this pretty much sums up our opinion of the Housewives franchises currently: 1. NYC and Potomac - can't WAIT for them return and hope their Spring return is soon! 2. ATL and BH - sure, let's see what they offer, but I'm not excited like I'd used to be come Nov/Dec. 3. OC and NJ - hasn't held my interest in a while now (especially NJ). watching out of loyalty in hopes it'll improve. Basically, if we compare the "genre " of Housewives to the soap opera genre, I feel like we've entered the late 1990's phase of Housewives mania where there's a mixture of losing steam, lack of compelling storyline, holding onto veterans that need to be phased out, and contrived plotlines.
  6. I thought Dolly had started out strong? I hope down the line you'll get the December 1988 Nielsens for the week CBS aired "A Very Brady Christmas." Apparently it was the highest rated made-for-TV movie that year, prompting CBS to bring them back as the short-lived bomb, "The Bradys."
  7. I’m guessing if everyone behind the scenes is still on board for it (and I’m also guessing that’d be a yes), I could easily see this continuing another season. Hell, the new Will & Grace barely bring in 4 million (sign of the times). The question is: would their next set of episodes air this Spring or would we have to wait till next Fall?
  8. I’m on the fence because I feel like sitcom shows today don’t maintain momentum (or maybe it’s my waning interest?) but certainly 20 years ago, 26 good episodes could easily be done and enjoyed. Come to think of it, the only sitcom I’ve stayed loyal to in recent years is Modern Family which always holds my interest. What’s their count? Like 18-20? Side note: for at least 3 or 4 years of its seven season run, Melrose Place had some 32 episode seasons with a couple being two hours long! I couldn’t imagine something like that for a show like This Is Us, etc.
  9. In terms of my "kooky" reference of Crystal today, I meant the actress looks kinda goofy. She never had the best posture or stance, but now she's hunched over and sporting a bad wig. Re: Darlene crying. Yeah, her eyes well up with tears pretty much every episode. Shallow side note - I think it'd do Sara Gilbert wonders to get fillers under her eyes.
  10. My God. Other than Margaret, they legit sound bored. Did Teresa record her voiceover on the same day she learned Joe is being deported?
  11. Same here. All my DAYS clips were getting taken down and my YouTube channel almost yanked completely before I purged it of all DAYS original footage. It really stinks. If NBC isn't planning to stream episodes from 1965 - present somewhere, what's the harm in faithful fans watching their own collections via YouTube? My favorite was the johnmarlena channel, which focused on mid-90's John/Marlena stories. I managed to save most of the possession and aremid, but there are still chunks missing and I wish I had saved more stories. Meanwhile, there's another channel where a wonderful person has posted every single episode of Guiding Light from 1994-1997; I've been watching it for the past couple years and thankfully no one has touched 'em.
  12. The thing is, I still love her. I know she's off-balanced and would do well with psychotherapy (my hubby's profession... I'd love for him to diagnose her, haha) but I've always loved her delivery with the way she talks and how there's pain, nostalgia, regret, all behind it.
  13. All of this. But especially the return of Season 1-6 Jackie Harris. I loved the first episode. Sadly, I could've seen this as just being a one episode wrap-up, without actually going on to a series. I hope they delve deeper into backstory of the past 20 years, including more with Ann-Marie and Chuck, Crystal (she's lookin' kinda kooky now...), and hopefully Nancy and Leon one day. I'd also like an explanation of how The Lunchbox went under. That affected four incomes (Roseanne, Jackie, Nancy, Leon). It's sad to see the hurt in Lecy and Michael Fishman's expressions. From seeing previous interviews in the past 25 years, you could tell there was a strong bond between Fishman and Roseanne. I'll gladly watch The Conners this season, but there is indeed something missing without Roseanne.... At least reruns are back!
  14. Sounds horrible. I'll just stick around for LVP & Camille scenes. I agree @Cat & @DaytimeFan, she should just own her British diva 'tude and be up front about the story. Dorit pulled a dick move with the dog; calling her out on it publicly is the price Dorit can pay for wanting fame and notoriety.
  15. I'd have to agree. As icy and condescending as she could be, there was a sophistication to her that some of other slobs just don't have.... and yes, I'd like to see her go in on Kelly. I don't know the history/beef with her and Andy, but isn't there another Bravolebrity who absolutely despises her?
  16. All caught up on OC... Kelly Dodd just gets more and more annoying. Even the way she says her opening tagline is obnoxious AF. "Call ANIMAL control, cuz there's a COOOOUGER on the loose," delivered in her usual sloppy tone. And when Vicki said she wishes she could talk to her mom, and Kelly gives that usual sloppy patronizing "Awww." Ugh. I'm ready for Kelly to bow out. I actually don't mind Gina and Emily. They kind of remind me of a Carole/Heather type of relationship, a bond forming as a result of being two newbies on a crazy show. As long as they don't isolate themselves like a Soggy/Dolores, they might stick around another year. Overall, it's an okay season. There's no fake cancer story or endless fallout of a fake cancer story, so there's nowhere to go but up. EDIT: Side Note: I found it refreshing that Gina just openly and casually said she doesn't believe in God. Then we watch as twice and thrice-married Vicki and Tamra clutch their pearls.
  17. I think there’s a good chance this year. Last year’s 9 episode arc aired in April and May so it wouldn’t have made sense. One promo shows Jackie and Darlene discussing upcoming holiday plans. “We’ll do what we always do. Spend everything on Halloween and have nothing to be thankful for or buy presents with.”
  18. Roseanne reruns have returned to TVLAND. They had at least 6 hours worth air this morning of Season Two. just in time for Halloween!
  19. Yes indeed, fun memories of the late 80's/early 90's when NBC Saturday nights (which of course are female-oriented shows) were my favorite. Golden Girls, Empty Nest, and Sisters. There was one year in particular (1991-1992; Golden Girls' final season) when they had Golden Girls, Empty Nest, and Nurses. Nurses also lived in the same fictional universe as the other two, and they would crossover on each other's shows.
  20. +1 on "Why Isn't Danielle Staub A Housewife??" P.S. Of all the women in Housewifeland who are trying as hard as they can to stave off Father Time, I gotta go with Ramona as the one fighting off aging the best. I can't wait to see what they all look like at 70 They can't fight him forever...
  21. Wow, Dolly Parton’s variety show started out strong! I remember watching a couple episodes in the late 80’s my mom taped on VHS. Even though I was only 4, I distinctively remember that FOX Sunday night lineup. Duet was retooled and renamed Open House.
  22. "Meh" was my first thought, too. And I'd have to agree with @Cheap21 There's a lack of spark in that promo without Kenya.
  23. Agreed. I just keep hoping we can stave off as much damage as humanly possible that he plans on doing before January 2021.
  24. Oh SNAP! I need Potomac to return next week
  25. Eww, Kavanaugh speaking/shouting is extremely off-putting. Reminds me of a Will Ferrell impression on SNL (hmm...)
