What a mess. I will say Brandi has a point in that bad behavior gets rewarded on these shows. Kinda icky that Bravo producers encouraged her in UGT 4 to give them another round that she gave in UGT 2 and now she's caught holding the bag on both.  She's not innocent, but she's not completely guilty.

  2. Man, after seeing such a nice rebound in January and February, I was hoping to see a spike for everyone during May sweeps, but now we're seeing just the top soap (sometimes top 2)  in the 7's with the rest of the top half down in the 6's.  I guess it's inevitable. And now it makes sense at how DAYS will soon be able to hit #1....

She was scared for her TV life IMO.

Also thought it was interesting that on WWHL the night reunion aired, Andy had Luann and Dorinda on, and Ramona in the audience. I can't imagine that booking was done by accident.

That was jarring and kind of a cruel tease. First, you air the NYC we've got. Then you air the NYC we actually want. At least they're aware the audience misses them enough to switch out the RHUGT airings to have NYC Legacy first.

So I think overall, I saw about 6 episodes of NuRHONY (the first 3; the last 2-3) and so I watched the reunion, and yeah, Ubah took all the wrong cues and tried to make all these random "side bombs" work and it all fell flat and made it awkward. There's a time and place for everything, and she misfired with every outburst.

I think I called it for myself when I watched the first episode and I stand by my first instinct: Sai has an annoying voice and really thinks she's something when she isn't. I'm not surprised she became the person viewers dislike the most. I don't even know all the dynamics of Jessel's marriage, but I do know that I love how she always keeps a calm demeaner when she's handling those cackling hag haters. The more she stays calm, the more irked the haters become. That's a good skill to maintain so props to her.

That's all I got on them. Tomorrow we return to Beverly Hills! :)

Speaking of Salem exits (Shawn and Talia), it's great that people can leave town so easily -- no packing to do, no apartment to clear. Talia left with one 20" rolling suitcase.

I guess all her physician crop tops fit in there.

Yeah, that's annoying, especially with the characters that don't just live in a hotel room or single room above the pub.  Like, what's going to happen to Belle & Shawn's house, which is supposedly Hope & Bo's home that's been reduced to one single room with mismatched patterns all about.

Despite Talia having eyebrow acting that only Drake Hogestyn admires, I thought the actress was charismatic and had some potential.  It's a shame they let her go so quick.

Admires? Hell, he's jealous! She had some eyebrow action unmatched by anyone else. It just wasn't controlled acting like Drake's and Kristian's. lol

Agreed though on the lost potential. Had they not wasted her in the stupid tainted biscuit storyline right off the bat, there could've been something to build on the Hunter sisters, if the writers fleshed them out (which is a tall order for these writers).

    SLC

    MID-SEASON (already?) TRAILER!!!!

Sigh... another overly obvious chucking of a glass on the ground, done by Angie. No shocker there.

Breaking a glass in a fit of rage is a move only Lisa Rinna has been able to deliver successfully.

Wait a minute, wait just a doggone minute. Clyde? They are about to write him back into story to such a degree that months ago he was free & he somehow got Susan the night of the wreck/cliff & took Susan to ENGLAND?!!! & gave her to Edmund Crumb?!! How outrageous is that?

People are saying that what we are seeing now is some of the stuff that AA made all the decisions on. If that is true, I hate him all over again & possibly even more & I can't wait to get past this.

I'd sooner believe the rewrite of Reva being tossed into the Caribbean Sea by Edmund Winslow and magically winding up in Amishland Goshen, Indiana before this.

... and exactly 10 years later, DAYS would again achieve a 6.9 (the week of Kristen's comeuppance) but this time it put them in 2nd place, inching very close to Y&R's 7.2.

  11. @JAS0N47 I'm curious to see how Nielsen's new usage of People Meters will affect the numbers, as I believe this went into effect in September of 1987.  Do you know the issue/controversy around the change? I seem to recall in another thread that it benefitted ABC more so than the other networks.

  12. Side note: While Another World was never gangbusters in the Nielsens after the late 70's, you have to hand it to them for pulling themselves back into the 5's and staying there for a long time, even as the heavy hitters in the top half are losing steam.

I see OLTL did better in the rankings than the actual ratings. All the soaps trended down where OLTL simply remained about the same despite Tina going over the falls and Viki going to Heaven.

I noticed that, too. The same could be said for DAYS in the mid 90's when they suddenly became the No. 2 soap because others around them (GH, AMC, B&B, etc.) fell harder in the OJ era.

    What’s up

I clearly remember an old scene of Alice Horton mourning her granddaughter hope.. lying on her knees and saying “first Addie, then tom, now hope” and crying. Do you remember maybe when this scene was showed? Which year? Cannot find it anywhere

Thought maybe during avalanche story from feb 1996.. but did not find this scene.

    thanks

I seem to recall that scene around the time that Princess Gina died in January of 2000 when they still thought she was Hope.

Dang, B&B beat GL right out of the gate. GL slipped way down that week.

I think it's due to cameras; General Hospital uses 4K cameras but non-4K lights (lighting has changed in the past year or so). Days of Our Lives has used 4K lighting since 2015 (when it went green), but never used 4K cameras (and I still don't think they do). Could the former be using a filter, as well? Potentially, especially since some of the tweets show different quality than what airs (TV vs. Hulu vs. online). The show is three different visuals, haha.

The amount of sun damage to his skin is troublesome.

GH definitely uses a filter, I'd say in post-production. It looks ridiculous IMO.
