And so it begins...another season of hell...where each cast member is a villain in someone else's story.

F**king hell, I forgot to stock up on Tums and Mylanta before the premiere. Like last season, last night's premiere just gives me the constant cringes and tension in my belly. I just don't know if I can call this show entertainment anymore. Just looking at half the mens' bloated reddened faces gives me fear one of their heads will literally explode.

Oy, I don't even know what to make of the shifting alliances that are coming up, along with all the behind the scenes strategizing and manipulation. RHONJ is the Ultimate Survivor game of all cities.

I'm in agreement with you; I can only stomach Dolores. She's the only sane woman who isn't doing backflips trying to align herself up with the right person to keep a spot on the show.

What was in this Checkmate Bitch cocktail? I love a tasty cocktail!

Funny you should ask, because I took a photo of the menu (I'm that kind of person, just as I kept a cocktail napkin as a souvenir, hehe):

    Checkmate Bitch:

Stoli Hot Vodka, Chacho Jalapeno, Fresh Pineapple, Grapefruit Liqueur, Vanilla Citrus Syrup, Angostura Bitters, and Pink Peppercorns. All this in a tall glass for a mere $23.95.  Cheers!

The RoHNY residences were so central to the show in a way I haven't seen on other cities, except maybe BH.  Like, sure, everyone thinks about the McMansions on Jersey and the early days of OC in Coto, but the NY women's properties were truly extensions of them.  The aesthetics or lack thereof almost always reflected where they were in their lives and how they perceived themselves and wanted others to.  Just like New York was always the other housewife on the show, so was Sonja's townhouse, Bluestone Manor (and Dorinda's underwhelming apartment, which starkly contrasted her pre and post-Richard life), Carole's downtown apartment, Kelly's loft in the Police Building with the horse, Ramona's ever-changing Park Ave. apartment and Hamptons McMansion, BOTH of LuAnn's incredible Hamptons homes and taking it all the way back Bethenny's IKEA apartment and Alex's Brooklyn townhouse.  It's why we missed so much with 'wives like Heather, Aviva and Tinsley--they didn't have proper home scenes . . .  Heather wasn't allowed to film in her apartment (but her Berkshires house was an amazing contrast to the other wives' vacation homes) and neither was Aviva, so she staged a rental as her home in s6 and it did not land . . . the only thing that landed worse was Tinsley's stupid residence hotel that she used to fake living in NY.

Losing the townhouse is losing a character in the story--I am very sad from that perspective.  But omg Sonja has needed to free herself of this for sooo long.  Realistically, Sonja can't ever fully let go of her past . . . but the townhouse literally had her living in it.  I, too, pray that she realizes enough from it to give her a future.

Great write-up. Like Ramona said, people in New York are savvier, and so is the real estate. :)

Playing catch-up on the thread. Had a nice few days in Las Vegas, which meant we had to go to Vanderpump's Cocktail Lounge at Caesars a couple times. The Checkmate Bitch is to die for :)

What have we been watching during the current Housewives drought? Old (new to me) episodes of Married to Medicine. Gosh, those women are the best.

    Our RHOP Season 9 cast

Hmm okay, let's see how the latest crop of newbies do. Glad they kept Kiearna. Now work your ass off to earn a surprise flute, a la Sutton Stracke.

    RHONJ:

I actually kinda like the taglines. Meanwhile, time to gear up for another dark ugly season full of women paid to hang out together. I mean, that's the majority of them these days, but these ladies legit hate one another. One final year before we get a big overhaul, as Andy hinted.

I really miss when random people would tell Carter he was "just like family" all the time. We don't get that anymore.

In the WASPy world of B&B, their attention to black characters post-George Floyd has subsided. Once things start gearing up for The Gates' premiere, Carter will suddenly find himself in the middle of a half-baked love triangle again.

    @Cat, likewise.

And how Cryangle handled the situation with Monique, it is the main reason why I never have fully been able to be in her camp. Yes, Monique was wrong for whipping her ass, and yes, Monique was wrong for going to blogs to get her story out ahead of the show, but they all do that.

But I know deep down in the back of her mind, Candiace is wishing she would've picked up on the kernels that Monique put down about Gizelle. Candaice was always a pawn for Gizelle to remove Monique. Once Monique was removed, Candiace was the next target; however, the stuff with Wendy occurred and Gizelle took a detour for the time being. But she made her way back and eventually got Candiace.

If they want to create a buzz for RHOP, they'll bring Monique back. She's one of very few non-OG's to make a great impression on the viewers. They need to stop protecting their pets (Gizelle).

The problem is, unless y'all have heard otherwise, I don't think she's at all interested in ever returning?  However, like Deidre Hall once informed us:  Never Say Never.

Monique!! 🥰 I will never stop wanting her back on RHOP! She is so badly needed for the show -- SO needed. I wish she and Candiace would make up, too.

    Never forget:

Same, would love to have her back. Too bad we can't see the full footage of the epic reunion, "f**k you!" and all from Gizelle.

@NothinButAttitude Thats the tea. Filming allegedly will start in June and they want it to premiere in Nov

As far as the gap, its bc Bravo had too many shows airing last fall. BH, RHOP, Miami and even M2M did not all need to debut at the same time. I beliee hey even overlapped with SLC for a week or two. They could have staggered the premieres. I do feel tere should always be at least on how ont he air and there's enoughthat they can do that

Gosh, they really planned this out poorly. Indeed, they were showing too many Housewives shows at the same time, and now with the filming gaps for so many cities, this is playing out worse than any Covid-19 hiccups.

I actually thought/hoped they were already filming Atlanta, especially with all the new twists and turns in the Days of Porsha's Life.

  8. This photo of them taping their 15,000th episode shows Maree Cheatham (Marie), Matt Ashford (Jack), Brandon Beemer (Shawn), Martha Madison (Belle), Victoria Konefal (Ciara), along with other recently revealed returns and/or return pop-ins from: Melissa Reeves, Gloria Loring, Lamon Archey, Sal Stowers, and Remington Hoffman. Am I missing anyone? I can't tell who's standing between Martha and Gloria.

I almost peed myself last night (on my birthday no less) when I saw this last night. My fave show of all-time. I am here for anything that brings back my Sydney (deaths be damned) and Amanda. I have some hope that with Leighton and Zuniga as producers that this show would stay more true to the original. Unlike the CW reboot where the showrunners admitted that they never watched one episode of the original. This reboot would do well to completely ignore CW's.

I wonder which original character will have died for the first episode. Didn't Thomas Calabro distance himself from all things Melrose after the reboot (understandably so)? If he won't be a part of it, maybe it's Michael's death at the beginning. I could see Josie Bissett and Lisa Rinna coming aboard for eps. Hopefully, Grant Show makes appearances.

I do hope the show features some sons and daughters of the originals to help phase in a new generation. As much as I love the original cast, it won't pull in new viewers if it's just the older generation.

GOD I wish Ella could show! I loved Katie Cassidy in the reboot. The best part.

Watch it be Rhonda who's died. 😂😂

But in all seriousness, I'd love for her (Vanessa Williams) to be included in this.

  10. Yes! I'm excited! I don't care what re-writes they have to do to resurrect Amanda, Sydney, Matt, hell even Kimberly. I can easily pretend the 2009-10 reboot never existed, as I'm guessing this new show will completely ignore.  Though admittedly in a perfect world, this would've happened about 10 years ago when everyone was a little younger. Still, I'm glad!!!

I understand what you are saying, but sometimes I think there is too much course correcting on modern soaps.  Social media has made every soap opera fan an expert and a self-appointed critic.  And when TPTB get a whiff that the audience doesn't like something, they change it, rewrite it, or eliminate it. Often too quickly, with too little thought, and with too MUCH attention paid to social media.  I remember soaps in the old days, when the writers wrote what they thought was best, and the audience just watched it, or they didn't. And believe me, soaps were better 45 years ago than they are today.  Personally, I believe writers are better writers than self-appointed internet critics.  So I rather like that DOOL gets to avoid all that.  My opinion only.

I get it, but I think it can also be beneficial at times. For instance, DAYS didn't know the Brandon Barash version of Stefan paired up with Camila Banus' Gabi would be a hit with viewers, so by the time their material began airing, the show already killed off Stefan, which led to the idiotic and completely unnecessary creation of Jake, the twin.

They could have stated that Marie got news that Jessica was pregnant and decided to be with her daughter during the pregnancy, thus giving the character a believable exit and setting up a future character, rather than having to invent one later.

Even have Alice get a call when the baby is born, share the news and she and Tom visit offscreen.

It's called nurturing the core family.

That's a good solid idea. The one thing I'll give them credit for in more recent years is that they followed through with Carrie & Austin having a child after they left in 2012 and we know his name is Noah. Who knows, a SORAS'ed Noah may pop up in the next couple years.

From the BTS video, it looks like it was cold and rainy at that rental house, which may account for both the shrinkage and the lighting.

They (Playgirl) went the cheap route by relying on too much natural lighting. Even on an overcast day, natural lighting can be harsh and unflattering, especially to men of a certain age.

I am ready to re-watch New York from the start... I can't wait for Jill's Hiiiiiiiiii and Bethenny and Jill BESTIES... And Luann when she had "class"... and Ramona all over Mario and offending everyone every episode.

    I AM PRESSING PLAY.

    @Liberty City ❤️

Enjoy those simple days of competitive tennis matches, wearable art, arguments over step & repeats, and Rosie the housekeeper. Good times.

Since Peacock operates differently than a network, if the time comes to cancel the show, maybe Peacock will handle it differently than a network. Maybe Peacock will give them enough adance notice to wrap things up and have a nice ending.

But I understand DOOL is doing very well on Peacock, so maybe there is no need to worry about cancellation.  Who knows??

We can only hope, especially since we're about to have a whopping FIVE soaps on the air in the near future. Come through The Gates!

But really, it's just the ridiculous taping schedule that is irksome. It's literally impossible for them to course correct something that isn't working.
