  1. Yeah, that 3rd part of RHOBH was weird.  I don't think Sutton was faking anything, but without Sutton and Garcelle's presence, half of Kathy's purpose for being there (fighting Kyle's battles) fell by the wayside. Those who remained on the right couch (Crystal, FlopMarie) were just... there.  It's almost like they should've just done a separate interview with Andy grilling the Richards sisters on where they currently stand with each other. Kim could've been there too, if she wasn't busy praying by a trashcan.

I'm sure Dorit vs. Kyle while Dorit's marriage is in jeopardy is already the storyboard outline for next season, just as Tamra and Vicki's "feud" has successfully landed Vicki back to filming scenes, just as planned predicted...

You mean "gates" cause that would be not capitalizing it?!

I would go with GATES the way Days goes by DAYS in the soap press.  (Same with Twitter/X)

Besides, in the tradition of CBS soaps, the "The" will be dropped to make it sound more hip. Right, Guiding Light? ;)

  3. I love how real this show is when it comes to their emotions and their friendships. They always elevate the drama or squash beefs during lunch breaks when they're not technically filming, but thankfully the cameras are still rolling.

    RHOP

LOVE that Keiarna is getting featured more. I love her and would rather she replace both Nneka and Ashley next season

Can we please STOP asking Robyn and Candiace about their issues? They just did that last week only to do it again this week. They arent friends anymore. Im gonna need Candiace to stop crying and acting surprised when Robyn has been telling her that for months. At this point, you should know what it is

Ditto on the Keiarna. She is fitting in nicely and I like her sassy side. And she has her own thriving business. Nice!

And yes, the Robyn/Candaice "why can't y'all kiss and make up?" debate is stale. Whenever they end an episode with these two going at it, I always want the announcement at the end to say, "next week on the season finale..." because it's been drawn out too long.

That said, here comes the fight!

Also, I enjoyed the Karen/Gizelle bonding scenes over their daughters, and seeing Gizelle's genuine emotions taking her daughter to college.

Oh Charrisse... still trying to have your moment. LOL, I always bust out laughing when I see her flopping around in anger.  Poor thing had to downsize and give up her house and now her custom-made fancy "champagne room" is merely the downstairs family room.

  5. When (hopefully when, not if) this finally begins production, I expect CBS will mandate that Y&R step their p*ssy up and reach out to lapsed viewers, particularly their black audience, in preparation for a stronger daytime line-up. Perhaps a story arc involving the return of Shemar Moore. Maybe they'll finally remember Tonya Lee Williams. And if Victoria Rowell isn't wisely scooped up for The Gates, a back-from-the-dead Drucilla would be heavenly.

    RHOBH reunion

On the surface, Sutton buying a horse and going on blind dates isn't front burner material... but she presented a lot of context that helped make those events more interesting.  She talked of her past marriage, how she was the typical hostess wife, how she had to find herself after the divorce, and then realized that she was ultra controlling as a defense mechanism from her years being controlled by her ex.   Lots of subtext and backstory.. which makes people want to watch and root for you.

Exactly. Her own backstory is interesting, as we learn more about her, layer by layer. It's ridiculous for Kyle to try to paint a narrative that Sutton had nothing else to offer the show. Even Sutton's own quirks, sometimes to her detriment, like her freak-out at Magic Mike, drives story.

  7. Wow, never thought I'd see this sort of development happen. So excited for the genre and all the folks potentially involved!

For creative purposes and ease of keeping up with a new soap in these modern times, I hope it's a half-hour serial, but I understand the economics behind it if it's an hour.

I felt that recent EW article about Generations and the Vivica A Fox / Jonelle Allen reunion so peculiar, and in the article it mentioned the whisperings of needing a soap like Generations to be revived, and here we are.

In years past, many of us here talked about how in order for soap operas to survive in this new ever-evolving landscape, we need to cut ties from some of the old dinosaurs (i.e. GL, ATWT) and start fresh, but that always seemed like wishful thinking. It's amazing to see this actually develop.

In this day and age of live viewers dropping dramatically as delayed viewing and streaming become more of the norm, it's the older demo that still enjoy watching programs live as they air, be it daytime or primetime. From that viewpoint, plus the strike, plus the pandemic, it's incredible to see this renewed energy and dare I say respect that soap operas are being given in the year 2024.

Can't wait to see how this all continues to develop!

She absolutely destroyed both of them. LOVED it. I was Marysol; Marysol was me.

THAT is the question. Techically cameras were done when this happened. It does make me wonder if this is why Keiana has not been around much since she beat that muppet up. But with the season almost over and Jacqueline showing up FINALLY and see her in the video, I would like to think SOON.  If they show it at all or use it at all.

I believe La Dame and Gizelle had already left when this happened. But don't quote me on that. :)

I'm digging Keiana after this past week. If they're looking to retool the Potomac cast, she could potentially be brought back?

Vanessa was a good actress, but she played Rhonda as too earnest and optimistic.

Well, except for that one episode where Rhonda and Billy cure racism 😂

I just finished watching Season 1, yet again, and it's crazy how much happens in a short amount of time in the Alison/Billy/Amanda triangle in the last stretch of the season. One, because their storylines prior took longer to develop and had more character reflection, and two because the show was so heavily focused on this one single storyline, with Jake/Jo as a supporting B-story, and Jane/Michael, Rhonda, and Matt barely seen.

This may or may not have already been mentioned here previously, but in the Season 2 premiere when Kimberly and Michael move into the beach house, they specifically mention it's a 1-bedroom home. Yet, seasons later there's magically a second room... for maybe Jennifer? Michael's mom? I forget the circumstances, but suddenly a second bedroom existed.

  10. RHOBH: Ooh PLEASE come home to the mothership, LVP! Yes, I'd love to see her smirking on the sidelines while Kyle and Dorit fall out.

RHONY: They are STILL brainstorming next season's NuNYC cast? Good grief... Do y'all think they might do a half OG / half Newbies cast?

Speaking of - we're about to go into a quiet housewives era.  When BH and Miami finish their reunions, the Potomac reunion will be airing.  Married to Medicine's reunion starts next week.  New Jersey is the only one close to having a new season start, although without a trailer, it won't be coming before April at earliest.  What does that leave?  OC is only 6 weeks into filming.  SLC just started filming.  Atlanta hasn't started.  BH, Miami and Potomac won't be on for another 9-10 months if they even start filming immediately, which I don't think will happen for BH or Pomotac - they need a cast shuffle which takes time.  Am I missing a city?  Dubai - I feel like we haven't heard anything about that show and it's been almost 2 years since Season 1 wrapped.  We're going to be housewives-less for a long time it seems :( They didn't time this last round correctly having 4 air at the same time and the others on hiatus with casting.

They should've spread it out the way they did during the Covid era. To go from 4 to 1 is lopsided for viewer interest.  Although personally it gives me some time to catch up on scripted shows.

What's the status on NuNYC's filming?

Oh wow, I hadn't seen such a recent shot of the Horton living room.

The front door has moved several feet to the left from its original and traditional position.

The dimensions of the room look smaller too.

    I prefer the "real" layout.

I don't think this is the most recent. It is currently gray and it's shaped like a box; no angled walls anymore.

Thank you for your continued work :)

I looked at these and am surprised the numbers for male watchers weren't higher, particularly for Y&R, whom I had once heard had around 1 million male viewers during their heydays such as this time period.

Dorit OTOH was a little spicier, more ready to speak her mind in the VTs at least, showing the good, bad and the ugly of her personality. The dissolution of her friendship with Kyle makes her viable for next season IMO. The fact that Kyle is trying to pretend they were never close ("We only went on vacation together once!") and the fact that Dorit disparaged Morgan ("She stuck out like a sore thumb')... well, Territorial Teddi must be absolutely thrilled she doesn't have to share her BFF with Dorit anymore! Judging by the reunion trailer, Dorit is trying to earn her spot. I doubt Bravo will do a hard reboot of the cast unless Kyle were to leave.

You are so right. It is TIME for an LVP-Kyle sit-down at a Beverly Hills Italian restaurant, and they need to talk about ~everything~ honestly, and it needs to take up at least 30 minutes of screen time, and Kathy and Kris Jenner need to be there as enforcers to make sure nobody leaves or wriggles out of any hard questions.

Agreed. The fracture in Kyle & Dorit's friendship is the storyline for next season (hell, who knows, they're probably one step ahead in the game and planned it this way. At this point, I side-eye everything).

And if Bravo sets it up and LVP is game, you know Kyle will jump at the chance for a sit-down as everyone in Bravoland wants to be the next Vanderpump Rules pop culture obsession.

I agree and like @Khanhan think 94 is still decent.

@Gray Bunny Beth's last week also scored a 5.7, although that was only good enough to get GL a 6th place finish instead of Top 5 a few weeks earlier. So I guess, Beth's claim that GL was scoring a 5.7 when she left wasn't wrong.

Thanks for the info and clarification :)

I think this is the last time GL gets a top 5 finish in the 90s until the clone storyline in 1998.

Was this week in 1993 when Beth Ehlers left GL the first time?  I distinctly remember an interview with her in Digest when she returned and they mentioned how when she left the show was "flying high" with a 5.7 rating but nowadays hovers around a 4.0, and I always thought a 5.7 seemed higher than usual for GL in the '93 era, save for the post-Christmas/winter snow storm highs of January/February.

@JAS0N47 has a complete floor plan for the Horton house from the book "Days of our Lives: A Tour Through Salem" on his website :

    hortonhouse4.jpg

TBH, I can see why they removed that door beyond space saving reasons as it's a bit confusing how the floorplan is laid out at first sight because you'd instinctively think that the den/study would expand to the left due to the front door. It's sort of counterintuitive, especially with the windows by the staircase, plus we so rarely see the outside to clarify how it might be laid out.

And obviously this is a bit wrong anyway, as I'm sure the "family room" in this was always the dining room? But sets on television shows tend to work like the TARDIS either way.

I have the book. They definitely had a little fun coming up with a full functioning house for many of the Salemites' residences.  Was there a separate family room ever shown back in the day? Also a notable no-show is the dining room.
