  1. Erica and Brooke as family definitely was a missed opportunity. Although, I have to say, next to Brooke, Maria was definitely Erica's best rival during the 1990's at least. Eva and Susan had excellent chemistry together as sparring partners. Erica was one of the few who actually called Maria out as the sanctimonoius, hypocritical shrew that she truly was.
  2. Edmund's murder in my mind is when Megan went from keeping things together to slowly, then quite rapidly going off the rails. By June we had fight club and the obsession over Ryan's "sample"... and of course the groundwork was already being laid for the unabortion. The only good story going on at that time was the Di/Dixie charade.
  3. Edmund was faking the paralysis at the time of his death and went to the barn and saw a heater Jonathan had placed face down on the hay. He got up to remove it and then Jonathan whacked him. Clearly Edmund was not targeted, just wrong place at the wrong time. I am foggy on the details as to why Jonathan wanted to burn down the stables in the first place though? Edmund's character maybe didn't deserve the end he got, but he had outlived his usefulness shortly after Maria "died" in the plane crash.
  4. I don't know if I ever saw those pics before, but if they were in the People magazine, I must have..... Annie holding the knife... Melissa looks amazing. Wish she wasn't tied up with Y&R. If the reboot happens as planned, would love to see Annie back wreaking havoc. Best character of the last 5 years of the show, hands down.
  5. If I remember correctly the whole Reese/Adam thing only lasted a few episodes. I don't think it was ever meant to go beyond that, besides at that point hadn't Tamara Braun already given notice that she was leaving? Rabid fanbases coupled with odd writing choices killed any chance of Reese ever being a sustainable character, unfortunately. On a side note, are you guys aware of this youtube channel? http://www.youtube.com/user/Caloosavista2008/videos?flow=grid&view=0 They have most of early 1992 episodes up, and have I think all January-April 1994 episodes up uninterrupted.... and the user continues to upload episodes from 1994. Been like discovering a gold mine. This was exactly when I started daily watching as a 9 year old child, right as the Jane Cox story was beginning. Its been great to relive that time all over again. It still amazes me to this day how night and day Megan's writing during this period was compared to her 2nd stint, and then of course her 3rd stint. I guess it was Agnes's steady involvement that kept her in line. Some of her staples are clearly still there. Pimping a blonde character to know end (Gloria) and plots that tend to be on the outlandish side, but aside from that the show still felt so cohesive during this time period.
  6. I've been all nostalgic over Christmas for AMC and have been watching lots of youtube clips and stumbled upon this one channel that has many full episodes from the last golden era of AMC (1995-1997). Maybe you all are aware of this already (I have not been around this site much the last year or so). One of the episodes I stumbled across last night was the Tad/Liza affair reveal at WRCW when Marian played the tape over the PA system. This particular user has the next two episodes as well. Thought I'd never see them again!
  7. I've always thought if CNN leans in any direction its to the left. But, for better or worse... I've always seen MSNBC=Left, Fox=Right and CNN does lie in the middle.
  8. Palin is not running! http://www.cnn.com/2011/10/05/politics/palin-presidency/index.html
  9. I totally agree with this, especially the bolded point. In recent weeks the rheteric against the other side has been ratched up big time in Obama speeches, while at the same time it is becoming even more unclear where exactly Obama stands on some pretty pertinent issues. I suspected from the time he got the nomination that this man was all talk and very little action. He has the big ideas necessary to lead a country, but he so far has not come through on one of them. How is it his base isn't even more angry at him? What has he accomplished since taking office? I would argue nothing substantial. As has been discussed time and time again, its unheard of in American history for a President to be re-elected with such a terrible economy and the unemployment rate as high as it is. I am a Canadian, and while alot of us up here like to pretend we can survive just fine without a strong US economy, the simple truth of the matter is we can't. We can't vote for this man, but essentially his policies trickle down here. Our economy is still "ok", relatively speaking, but quickly going downhill. All it will take is another big shock down south or over in Europe to send us into a tailspin.
  10. *waves to Brian up there* That's a well-rounded post expelling the myth that all Republicans are bigots. It just simply is not true, but there is still a healthy segment of the GOP that are, as evidenced by the Tea Party. On another note, I am happy it appears Perry is stumbling, he peaked too soon. I am seriously thinking the eventual nominee STILL is not in the race. The current field I just don't know how any of them can beat Obama, but the way the race has been going, it may be discouraging to some from getting in. In which case, the US will be stuck with Obama for another four years. There are worse things in the world, but he does not deserve another term, he just doesn't. From a Canadian standpoint on the foreign policy file, that's where Obama gets most of my support, but that is quickly fading. His ambiguity on the Israel question is troubling, and the way he seems to be hot to reopen trade debates between the countries is troubling. He is back onto the "Buy American" strategy, he is trying to steal away some of our sovereignty with Canada and USA's new Integrated border strategy (although our current PM is not standing up to him on that). So, Obama's lone saving grace with me is starting to falter. I really hope the Republicans get their act together and find someone who can beat this inexperienced idiot.
  11. Perry to me is not electable, and if he is... the American society is in more trouble than we all have feared. Obama is so beatable right now and as an outsider I want him gone myself, but the only thing that will keep him in office is a weak candidate on the right. All of them currently fit that bill. Romney is the most "electable" yes, but is he that likable? I don't think so. Obama the campaigner will use his charisma to his advantage out on the trails. Really... as I've said before.... someone should seriously break protocol and mount a challenge to Obama within the Democratic Party. They may get blackballed, they may not.... but from what I gather there are just as many democrats for this man as there are against. I think he's the worst US President probably since Carter for leadership.
  12. Given her injury problems, despite being one of the best in the game or not, Serena should be humble to the fact that she even made it to the final!!
  13. Serena's mother probably doesn't even clap when one of her own daughter's win... bitch looks as cold as ice whenever they show her. Serena played terrible, its as simple as that. Her serve was atrocious. Congratulations to Sam! The better of the two players today. She seems like such a cool, down to earth girl too! Hopefully her success continues to build, maybe at Melbourne in January!
  14. I would think his little mini comeback will stop at Nadal's feet? Maybe not with some questions surrounding Nadal's health?
  15. Yeah, and Serena pretty much rolled over her.
  16. The absence of the Williams sisters is no coincidence. The women's game has been built around those two the last decade and no other player has shown to be very consistently good, and there is no other rising American which does not help either. Serena appears to be coming back to form rather quickly and barring any other injuries, she probably has a good 3 or 4 years left where she will be a perennial grand slam contender. Venus however, I think may be finished especially after being diagnosed with these disease.
  17. Adam replied to YRBB's topic in Off Topic Lounge
I think that set is atrocious and yes, you are right that it does not fit The View.
  18. They pimp Fish because he's American lol. The American Tennis Media for 15 years were used to having two Americans in the top 5 winning grand slam after grand slam (Agassi and Sampras). The, Roddick came along and looked to be the next best thing... well he tanked, is now out of the top 20 and Fish has been consistent enough to get a top 10 ranking. Its no surprise he's focused on alot, at the US Open.
  19. Double faults has been her weakness ever since her injury, poor girl... you can tell how much competitive drive she has too.
  20. So Roddick is under the lights tonight.... when was the last time he played a US Open not ranked in the top 10? Maybe less pressure will mean good things? Highly doubt it. Its too bad how inconsistent he has been. He won that US Open just as Agassi and Sampras were stepping aside. Maybe carrying that torch got to him? As a result the USA haven't really had anyone on the men's side to carry it since Pete or Andre. Fish seems to be making strides, however.
  21. Yeah, I saw that.... always surprises at the Open. Zvonereva had alot of trouble today also in her 2nd round match, took 3 hard fought sets. I am very interested to see how Maria does tonight. Due to Serena being ranked so low (28th) they say as early as the 3rd round could see her play a top 10 seed. Yikes!
  22. Venus Williams withdrew before her 2nd round match started due to an "unspecified illness".
  23. Of the top seeds today, Nadal seemed to have the most trouble. Even though he won hi 3 sets, all 3 sets were hard fought. Serena cruised to a straight set first round victory. She's looking good! I really want her to win. It will cap off her comeback.
  24. That must have been so emotional. Watching it on t.v. certainly was. I never voted for the NDP with him as leader, but you couldn't help but respect his approach. He seemed to genuine and fought so passionately for his objectives. Canadian politics now have a gaping whole with him gone. The saddest part is he never really got an opportunity to full-out challenge Harper and the Conservatives as Opposition Leader beyond the debate over the Canada Post strike back in June.
  25. I don't think personally it would have made any bit of difference.... Brit's "tribute" was just a poorly disguised segue for Beyonce's performance. Gaga/Calderone or no Gaga/Calderone, it would have been embarrassing. Britney looked as if she could care less about the award just like everything else about her career at the moment. Jo Calderone was a hot, but not totally unexpected, mess. I figured Jo would appear because he/she is in the video for You & I, and I think it would have worked without the initial monologue and then subsequent acceptance speech and presentation to Brit. Lady Gaga, as always, milked something crazy to death. AMS, you hit it right on the head... she can sing, she can write SHE IS TALENTED.... she seems just so damn insecure about that that she has to amp it up with the craziness. I get sick and tired of the theatrics like this. IMO she does not need them, or at the very least not at this insane intensity.
