  1. I can't disagree with any of that, especially about having someone cast who evokes Keith physically. The truth is that BTG has been hit-and-miss regarding casting. We have some amazing talent doing great work on one hand and giving us some of the best in daytime, while on the other we wonder why some actors were ever hired and are glad to notice improvement after almost 5 months. Then we have the hires whose ages don't work at all while we have to pretend that's OK. Self-inflicted wounds? Yeah.
  2. Exactly. I don't think Ted has been "recast" at all. I continue to believe Robinson was always meant to have the role. If BTG was all about recasting, we can name multiple other characters we'd have recast before Ted. This show isn't moving that way.
  3. That was my point. Thanks for agreeing.
  4. I think the show wanted Robinson as Ted from the beginning and that they gave no thought To how strong or how passive he was as the show first aired. I think the misfire has been the writing for Ted since the recast took place. I don't know what they're doing or thinking, but they've definitely taken Ted "in a new direction -- and they shouldn't have. It is a huge mistake if they want Ted to be passive. That is a misfire. We already have Doug as passive and submissive, and putting Ted in that category too is ridiculous. Based on zero sources and zero inside information, here's what I think happened: -- Keith D. Robinson was cast as Ted but couldn't appear until a couple months in because of previous obligations. -- Maurice Johnson was hired as temp Ted and always knew when he'd be leaving. -- The show was a bit blindsided by the support for Johnson. -- The writing for Ted has stripped the character of any realization that his life is a complete mess and that he needs to work to make things better. I think Keith D. Robinson is a very good actor who's been given almost nothing.
  5. How many relationships has Abby had? I don't think the writing has been good for any of them. That character had SO much potential, and it's been continually wasted by every writing team. I hate to complain in advance, but you're so right. We're going to get a few bucks thrown at new sets in the next couple weeks (paid for in part by even more extreme cutting the past few weeks), and then we'll be back to poor, tired Genoa City. Dumas has been painted for MONTHS as this Elon Musk type of character with BILLIONS of dollars and unbelievable power. Now he's going to move to GC and walk into CL for his coffee, where as you said, he'll threaten people.
  6. She probably doesn't, but I'm sure she heard about that dialogue/story. -- As far as a new love interest for Mo, I don't think it matters what he or the show want for him or try to do. is acting these days is so bad, so off, that nothing is going to work. His eye contact in scenes is now so minimal it's unreal. He either looks down or off to the side -- anywhere but at the other actor. He struggles like crazy to remember his lines. Of course, that has to throw off his scene partner(s) who have no idea when or if the line is coming. His days as a romantic lead are over.
  7. I think we were spoiled a bit by the first week of BTG. Nicole rolled up to the Fairmont Crest Country Club in her Mercedes with the Emotions' "Best of My Love" blasting. We got some great outdoor shots there and had location shooting in that first week. Since then? I didn't expect the budget to support charting music all the time and location shooting every week, but I'd be lying if I said I thought we'd get more than we have.
  8. I agree with all you've said about the treatment of Natalia/ELR. GH writes these horrible stories, then the character gets an exit that's awful and ugly. There's always a shiv at the ready in the GH writers' room. No other soap displays its mean girl side like this one.
  9. That's how I feel, too. Look, I'm still enjoying the show, but when I think something is off and I want it to be better, I'm going to post about it. I understand giving a new soap a honeymoon period of 6 months or even a year, but in this social media-run world, that doesn't fit the reality. Opinions are formed quickly. We're now at almost 75 episodes, and we're going to call out what's not working. Yep. I would hope someone from Gates looks for internet comments/discussions, welcoming the feedback from viewers who are this engaged. We watch the show every day -- we're not occasional viewers who tune in twice a week. I want this show to survive, and to last, and being a yes man to everything does not help.
  10. I may have misheard, but I swear there was a line in the script mentioning that Kat's and Chelsea's workspace was only a few hundred yards away from Dani's -- implying they'd be close enough to see each other often.
  11. Thanks so much for the correction.
  12. hehe I agree, but you gotta love a boy who knows how to tease.
  13. I make comments about BTG that I would make about any of the other soaps. No one is forced to agree with me or to follow me. -- I think Martin's story is a good one, but the actor playing the mystery busboy is really bad. -- Ben Gavin had his best day on the soap today. He was good with Naomi and very natural in those restaurant scenes with Ashley. The writing for Ashley is so bad I can't comment on Jen Jacob. -- I want Derek to realize he deserves better than Ashley. We're definitely getting a dream sequence next week where Ashley dreams she's with Andre. -- Dani's takedown of Tomas (regarding his relationship with Kat) was something else. Girl should look in the mirror. She had no business warning the guy. -- The new set is confusing. Are we to believe Andre unlocked the front door to the house and then moved through various rooms to get to that workplace? I thought at first the entrance was a double patio door to the outside.
  14. I'm only 10 minutes in on today's show, but I'm already rolling my eyes. I hope this gets better in the last 50. -- Bill is still in the hospital, and that is absurd. Dr. Montgomery gave Bill a weak leg push and that's supposed to be physical therapy? It's all too unrealistic. -- While I'm glad to see a new set, that "workplace" for Chelsea's and Kat's new business doesn't look anything like a workspace. Big plastic bins do not signify up-and-coming designers. -- Ashley frantically looks to Andre for advice because she thinks Derek might "want to talk"? Is this girl 13???
  15. -- It's taken WAY too long to get to the Dumas reveal. There's no way a great writer could live up to that hype, let alone a hack like Josh Griffith. -- Danny returns from his rock star tour with Christine and goes right to Crimson Lights? Are you frickin kidding me with this? THAT'S where Daniel runs into them? Why do they bring back MD and LLB for this stuff? -- Josh Griffith thinks throwing the name Tucker McCall into these scripts is enough to build interest and intrigue. If anything, it's now obvious it ISN'T Tucker. -- Amy sitting with Damien at Society FOR HOURS. Who wants to watch this crap?
  16. Exactly how I feel. She's a strong dramatic actress, but this attitude about content and wardrobe gets in the way. It's mid-June and she's dressed all in black and buttoned up like Port Charles is dealing with a blizzard.
  17. Right??? How much more proof do we need that Josh Griffith effed up?
  18. Jack Wagner looks awfully rough in those previews. Back that camera up, please.
  19. I can't believe how strident and ugly they're writing her character. She has no remorse over how the Gio story came out at all???
  20. From Rory Gibson's IG.
  21. I don't like the way Lulu was written today. AT ALL.
  22. I co-sign with this and everything else you said. I admit I am bothered by all of this in part because of that implication -- that they care about their partners and kids more than anyone else. It's why I resent having to say "Well, I respect where they stand on wardrobe and values and sexual content," as if I and others are disrespectful and living on some other values plane. I don't think it'll change, either, but I'll continue to talk about it when I see it....even if I know I'm beating a dead horse LOL
  23. I think we're on the same page here. Like you, I respect Amanda's religion and beliefs, but I kind of resent that I even have to say that. Framing soap opera romance as "sexual content" is absurd, in my opinion. Where's the context? Where does she draw this imaginary line about what goes too far? So it's OK for Chase to be shirtless as long as she's bundled up in a terrycloth robe That's the biggest thing we've ever seen? Then it's not "sexual content" that her kids would see? Is it "sexual content" when her kids see the scenes where she talks about getting knocked up as a teen? Or is that not "sexual content"? I could go on and on with this, but the bottom line is that JS and AS can make all the personal deals they like. Those deals should not have any effect on the writing. They are not being asked to do anything that wasn't done on soaps 50 damn years ago. When wardrobe -- layers and layers of unneeded clothing -- is ridiculous, we're taken out of the scene. GH clearly is on board with their "personal deals" and it affects the final product. In the end, the show is to blame for indulging these actors. As you stated, if you have these modesty rules, perhaps daytime isn't the right place for you.
  24. This thread is so much better than the show.
