  1. Has Paramount+/CBS ever discussed Y&R/B&B streaming? NBC regularly touted DAYS performance on streaming before it moved to Peacock exclusively. I'd imagine GH does well on Hulu.

I've only caught soaps on streaming for the past 6 years since I cut the cord - no DVR.

Soaps are not only the ultimate binge-worthy programming. Since they have new content daily that also serves as a gateway to a streamer entire library.

  2. If RM wasn't considered an asset to B&B, he would've been recast during the early seasons the same way Judith Baldwin (Beth), Clayton Norcross (Thorne) and Ethan Wayne (Storm).

B&B was hardly timid about recasting during the early season or simply shipping off characters that didn't work as planned (Donna, Katie, Felicia).

The show could use a major creative reboot. For example, Brooke should be more like Stephanie at this point. She should take over FC and have a few kids living with her. Almost a recreation of the original Forrester household, except with Ridge and Brooke in the roles of Eric/Stephanie. The show's strength was built on everyone living and working together. It was unrealistic even back then that adult kids would live in the mansion, but it worked. Maybe give JMcC a dignified final exit like SF.

The show needs something because it has been a terrible mess since the ill-conceived Finn/Steffy shooting. Except for a few moments like the Monaco reunion, the show has been largely unwatchable.

With appreciation and all due respect to Toups for posting the ratings, I don't believe that any decision maker at the networks look at only linear ratings anymore. It's a base that they build off that with Paramount+ (Y&R, B&B) and Hulu (GH) and on demand and live +7 all added into their numbers. We have no idea how many viewers these shows actually have.

Absolutely. DAYS streaming numbers are what kept it alive at NBC for years and, ultimately, saved it at Peacock. I have no doubt the 3 remaining soaps do quite well on streaming.

Separately I'm pretty sure B&B's YouTube channel, where they're uploading previous season episodes, is quite popular both domestically and WW.

B&B is likely the safest of all soaps - it's 18 minutes, rarely does special effects, has used the same sets for years, LA remotes are cheap and the other remotes often tied to some other promotional effort aka they're subsidized.

  4. @DramatistDreamer Yes on Daniel/Mariah - so many angles there! When Mariah came to town, I believe Daniel was off-canvas. I know there were a couple of brief scenes squeezed in during one of MG's visits. The aftermath changed Daniel's life and, deep down Mariah must resent Daniel because of the way she lost the twin she never met. Throw in Summer, Sharon AND Phyllis, who got Nick in the Cassie aftermath. With MG back, a Daniel/Mariah link could be an incredibly compelling story based on real history.

People claim CG has been challenging to pair with male actors, which is what's been said about ED. Right now, CG has excellent chemistry with two actors on canvas - MG + MM.

Maybe after CG's maternity leave, she'll be given better opportunities.

  5. @1974mdp She's definitely been Cassified. It's a real shame because Mariah's backstory, her sexuality and that she didn't grow up surrounded by rich folks make her an interesting outlier to the rest of GC. It's disappointing that Terriah is in the forced bubble because somehow they aren't like real couples - that cheat, betray, etc.

It'd be far better if, say, Mariah had a fling with Kyle. With AL as Summer, the Mariah/Summer rivalry could be reignited on a whole new level.  Even Mariah/Devon, etc. CG is utterly wasted.

  6. @Sapounopera Jerry Douglas was 50 when he joined Y&R as 'old' patriarch John Abbott. Jack, Ashley and Traci drove the Abbott stories. John had adult stories because of Jill. While Kyle, Abby and dearly departed Colleen have all had materials, nothing comes close to what their parents had.

As you note, the Newman grandkids have not fared well at all. Noah, Mariah, Reed, Faith, Connor and Christian should driving that generation, the same way their parents did 30(!) years ago.

  7. Quinn was Sheila's placeholder for several years. Go through all of Quinn's felonies, relationships ($B, Deacon, Eric), working at FC, wrath of Steffy ('She's TOXIC!'), Liam/Adam, Katie, spiking Brooke's drink, getting 'redemption' through an unexpected relationship (Eric v. Deacon).

Funny Liam tries to tag Finn with Sheila's influence. Does that also apply to $B?

  8. Shaming JE? It simply keeps getting worse as these incidents are exposed.

Is there something about AA that makes him a little more protected?

You'd think Sony/Peacock would fire him outright, but, perhaps, they fear a discrimination law suit. Even if that's the case, ask him to resign even if it means paying him some part of his contract.

We're not talking about a couple of isolated incidents over 20 years. It absolutely makes zero sense that he's still there.

  9. A lot of the manufactured and accelerated tension with SINN is directly tied to JMW's *annual* leave.

The other 3 existing shows currently include at least 2 characters each that have committed similar crimes, including murder. Yet, those characters have been incorporated into the fabric of the show. Most of those characters did spend time in jail as part of the road back.

If Thomas can 'put in the work' to be a cleansed man through two weeks of intensive therapy, give Sheila six weeks. Instead of burning through tons of story, have Sheila view this chance with Finn + Deacon as incentive to fight her demons. Have Finn meet his 5 siblings, etc. create that conflict with Steffy, but have them work through it as a couple - anything to avoid Steam!

Spiking Brooke's drink - like Quinn before her - shouldn't have gotten us to the alley.

  10. Instead of directly murdering Victor, plane crash gives them sabotage storyline material. It's the only logical explanation. Otherwise, just have Victor die in his sleep.

@AbcNbc247 Sadly, even a body won't prevent another Steve-ano nightmare.

It'll probably be something Nic-tor. Can fans honestly say they'd be shocked if Nicole starts channeling Victor?

  11. And, as predicted, we have a new Nanny!

Honestly, Sheila doing something good is a lot better than the absolute rubbish we've been fed for the past 16 months with her character. This plotpoint separation for JMW's leave is a lot better than what we'd normally expect - Sheila kidnaps Steffy or something along those lines.

Plus, we know it's temporary, JMW will be back and, sadly, Brad will need unhinged Sheila for November sweeps.

Only the first 10 minutes was lost.

Why on earth was there a national news break? I've looked at several news sites, don't see anything that would warrant CBS breaking in.

The good news is that whatever scenes were lost, the dialogue was repeated during the rest of the episode and certainly during the next week!

  13. @Fevuh I was perplexed by the speed of kiss, fight, sleep with Thomas, divorce papers and done in record time. Then I read what coming up soon, which gave me a theory why they might be severing Lope ASAP. Remember the days when they had the artificial '3 months or 6 months' before a divorce was final? I think they used it with Liam/Steffy's first marriage.

All this nonsense with Sheila should've never happen. Shooting Steffy/Finn over spiking Brooke's champagne was idiotic and illogical. When Sheila is around, stuff happens. When she's not, we got the past 3 months.

Quinn filled the role of instigator (Sheila) for several years - she hooked up with Deacon, Bill and Eric, spiked Brooke's drink, kidnapped (and worse) Liam, threatened Katie, etc. - but Quinn was declawed. It's amazing how many stories are recycled and burned through on B&B! Sadly, Brad hasn't even made an attempt to have another (younger) character fill that role.
