  1. @BoldRestless@Taoboi Mary Williams was a great character. Unlike the sanctimonious hypocrites, Mary was able to dish out her *insights* because she lived a pretty clean life and was shockingly direct as we saw in the scene with Lauren.

Mary was great comic relief, but also provided Y&R with a voice for common sense. She also was a fantastic on-screen partner to Paul's women - Lauren, Christine, Cassandra, Isabella.

Mary would've diced and sliced GloWorm in fine fashion.

  2. It still blows my mind that TB debuted 40 years ago. It's a pity that Lauren isn't the mover and shaker that she should be.

No Brad was the only real omission. Paul got more play than I expected with the Mary scene a nice bonus. The Sheila scenes were spot-on. Better Jill/Phyllis scenes exist, but they made the point. SSH was perfect as Joanna. Of course, the funniest part of no Neil F or Brad scenes - they went on to father and son on B&B.

  3. Brad: Awesome idea on how to get Thomas back in Hope's world: let's throw FC's Black designer *and* the founder of FC under the bus!

Pretty soon everyone will forget that he r@ped Caroline, murdered a woman by forcing her off the road, stalked Hope, faked his own death and abused his son, etc. Taylor & Ridge will be so proud of their son for saving HFTF.

Even Brooke will concede that Thomas deserves to be back and is best man for her daughter. OC, Liam will be devastated and turn to Brooke, which is the real endgame here.

B&B is needlessly going off the rails.

I just want to know where these writers are getting the idea that twenty something nepotism babies are just dying to be married with kids. That and the snow white Los Angeles are the most unrealistic things about this show, and that says A LOT!

Exactly. No gay couples, latinos, - even working at FC. While Bel Air is probably as white as portrayed, it's disappointing B&B hasn't found a way to tap into LA's rich cultural diversity.

The only thing I can think of that it's intentional because of the huge international audience, which may just want to watch rich American white folk.

  5. At least SC delivered some very GIF-worthy looks and moves this week.

B&B actors must be directed to be incredibly stiff, but SC gets some sort of pass. His physical movements - e.g., when Sheila started Liam/Wyatt - make these repetitive heavy drama scenes a little more fun. It's unfortunate that Liam really got boxed into that triangle for years. After learning they had a rich dad, either Liam or Wyatt should've a wild boy sleeping and partying their way through LA.

  6. @dragonflies I seriously doubt Finn and Steffy would've been in states of undress if Li's arrival had been called in by security. They may have an approved list, but the door would still be locked if they're that afraid of the evil mastermind who has been known to slither past security. It's amusing, that's all.

B&B needs to get some B-stories launched ASAP. There's no need to burn through this story so quickly. Balance would actually benefit the show greatly and make this Bill/Sheila stuff (a little) less jarring.

  7. Any remember the scripts B&B used when everyone found out that Eric was with Quinn. Eh, no need to recall, they've been on our screen the past 2 weeks. They even worked in *toxic* instead of *dangerous*

Oh, can we talk about Li and Taylor both walking right in Finn/Steffy's house without knocking?

If they're so afraid of Sheila, wouldn't they: 1) lock the doors; 2) hire private security; 3) move into the Forrester Mansion, etc. It's things like this that makes some of the *fear* so laughable.  On top of the fact, that if Sheila wanted to harm anyone, she would've done it during the months when everyone, except Brooke, believed she was dead.

  8. Sheila froze her eggs, Bill *donated* and DIANA is carrying the demon seed for her mother. Honestly, it would be worth the two weeks of repetitive Forrester/Logan/Spencer Boys meltdowns for them to do it.

DD isn't a great actor, but he does have presence.

It's been refreshing watching KB given material where she is far more restrained and dare I say, *normal* - it's a side to her skills rarely seen during the past 25 years. Everything was always smirking, screaming, scheming, angry, OTT stuff.

@edgeofnikBaker and company have Sheila's confession to the shootings on tape, she wasn't coerced, plus she tried to kill Li. There are other charges besides the ones Steffy and Finn have

Ewww no thanks, let Ridge stay a Marone cause otherwise that means both Steffy and Phoebe slept with their blood uncle Rick gross

Lucy slept with her uncle Ray on 'Dallas' 40+ years ago and no one blinked.

For B&B with Rick, played by a different actor at the time and off canvas - and not returning any time soon - it'll never come up. Plus, B&B churns through a story and moves on as if it never happened. For example, I'd totally forgotten about Bill/Steffy and the potentially Kelly paternity tease. The Taylor shooting is a rare revisit by Brad.

  10. Super interesting script choice today to have DD have only one line. HT had a ton of uninterrupted long dialogue and somehow makes it effortless.

@dragonflies Like Taylor's ridiculously long absences from the canvas, Karen should've been there - even in a limited capacity - after all the Thomas stuff. Yes, Liam is a blood relative, but I can't fathom Karen/Bill combo wouldn't go to court (*bribe a judge*) to get Douglas into his grandmother's care. It's absolutely illogical.

  11. @dragonflies You're correct, except I believe it was established that somehow there was never any physical evidence at the scene. I always thought that was the clear out for Sheila because even the Sinn testimony could've been discounted by a jury: Finn's coma/miraculous return from the dead, Steffy's previous drug problem, the fact it was well-known neither accepted Sheila.

Sheila is free, Brad will shut down this story in a few weeks unless they bring back Diana. If not, Sheila will simply leave town a free woman.

The big problem with B&B now is that they literally have nothing else going on, but this story.

Thomas was exposed, the Ridge triangle is done, Carter can only be *accidentally* shirtless in his office for Katie so many times.  Eric/Donna, Hope/Liam - happily married with zero conflicts or threats. Wyatt, Zende, Paris - like who cares at this point.

The show needs a major reboot. Killing Eric off could reset the show, *revealing* Sheila conspired with Massimo to change Ridge's paternity test could provide some good material. Brooke taking over Forrester from Steffy, etc. Thomas starting his own fashion house would work, except they've made Thomas repulsive.

Maybe it's time for RJ, Will III and Diana to come in - mix it up with Zende and Paris. Unfortunately, B&B is terrible at integrating new characters.

Well, she does have story now, but there's no investment in anything or any storyline. This'll probably be over and done with by Spring.

Unless they bring Diana, this should fizzle in two months. Will they go with Bill/Sheila/Deacon triangle?

In the meantime, I fully expect some entertaining Sheila/Bill scenes with Brooke, Taylor, etc. but that can only go so far. If Brad really put some effort, Sheila attempting to reconnect with Finn would be interesting.

Of course, this new freedom allows Sheila to show up in Genoa City for Y&R's 50th Anniversary. There's no way that Sheila/Lauren can be omitted from this season.

Will anything that Sheila did last year matter? Finn is alive. Li is alive. She's alive. And they all still hate her and keep her at an arm's distance. What was the point?

Exactly. That's the biggest issue when Sheila gets written into extremism. A better story would've been for Steffy to align herself with Sheila after she discovered the Brooke 'why did I drink' scheme to break up Ridge and Brooke. Ironically, they ended up doing that - with Thomas, but pretty much ruined Thomas to get there.

But all of these Sheila-related stories did boost the ratings last year, which is the goal. Perhaps, Brad really does know what the average B&B viewer wants.

  14. 9 hours ago, Soapfan8 said:

No he didn’t he barely interacted with them😂because he insulted Brooke once that means he hated her and her family?

This is true. I binged some of the early episodes and the only one I recall where Sr + Brooke had words was at a party at Forrester house. I got the sense that Sr. appreciated that Brooke was there for Caroline. Perhaps, it wasn't explicit, but that would be the reason Sr. couldn't ever hate Brooke.

The great thing about B&B is that if the $B/Sheila chemistry story flatlines, the show will quickly end it. Sheila will have her freedom and leave town.

The $B/Sheila scenes have very Goth vibes - almost something from Dark Shadows or Edge of Night. It's quite unusual for B&B, which has made it interesting to watch. Plus, KB has been given pure dramatic material without the hysteria, lunacy and screaming. Cool, calculating and manipulative Sheila is a far better watch.

I get some viewers hating Sheila and wanting her gone. But without her, what exactly does the show have to offer in its current state? Quinn was basically a less lethal Sheila, but with RS gone, it's a pretty boring canvas.

I was thinking about that the other day: how dumb it was for B&B to name a new character after an iconic figure in the show’s history whose portrayer passed away. Brad is so thoughtless. It would be like Y&R naming some random character “Katherine Chancellor.”

If Chance hadn't cheated on Chloe during their engagement, it would've been close: Katherine Valentine Chancellor.

I wish, but Bell isn't going to kill off his pet Sheila. he's made it clear she's here for the long haul, even though Sheila works best in small doses

*Pet* is a stretch. This is KB's longest B&B run in 25 years. She's only had two other runs 2002-03 and 2017-18. Did either of those even last a year?

It's remarkable Sheila can be integrated so well into the show despite she a long absence since her initial run 1992-98.

ITA - Sheila works well in clearly defined stories. Unfortunately, Bell has a habit of writing Sheila into unnecessary corners. Seriously, the thought of Finn finding out that Sheila spiked Brooke's champagne turns into shooting Steffy (and Finn). C'mon. But it did boost the ratings for several months. So there's that.

That actually crossed my mind watching their scenes the other day. That this might actually be a big con. I hope not, but...

If it's not a con, then what's Diane's remaining story? She marries Jack and fades into woodwork? Nah. Diane has always been duplicitous.

Plus, it's no coincidence that Sally mentioned her *con artist* parents for the first time - even on B&B. Jeremy certainly could fit the bill there.

  18. There must be a lot more to the Diane Jeremy story than we know or at least I hope so because frankly I'm not buying the whole Stark Threat at all.

    1. Jeremy is upset about $250K taken 6 years ago. As he mentioned that's like $25/hour for the time he spent in prison - not counting inflation! Yet he's in sharp suits and kicking it at a luxury hotel.

    2. And everyone, including Victor, acts like Jeremy is some ruthless killer and is shaking in their boots. Heck, half of GC has tried or actually killed someone. I'm don't see the hysteria leading to Phyllis' firing by Aunt Jack, Kyren and SuperGirl. Honestly, having MS work more with MG is a positive.

    3. Diane offered to pay Jeremy back, Jack offered double the money, which still isn't much for the GC 1%ers,  yet he's not really biting.

I think Diane/Jeremy are together. And her arrival in GC several months before his release has to more there's something more. Diane could've come back to GC years ago, but she didn't.

  19. The Danny, Phyllis, Daniel scenes were better than I expected. I did like the Danny/Phyllis conversation about Daniel's custody. Boy, Christine just looked so bitter with those fantastic flashbacks. That was a brilliant way to frame the Danny scenes.

Lily's breakup scenes with Billy were spot-on. So now Sharon, Chelsea and Chloe are *completely* sane and declawed. Sharon should've never been written as crazy, but MCE and EH are far better as pot stirrers than sanitized Stepfords.

SW has far more chemistry and energy with JH than with PB. The contrast was evident in Friday's scenes.

ED and TSJ are interesting to watch.

Y&R needs to stop the corporate musical chairs. It's just too much.  Yes, Y&R has always been business heavy. Y&R's office sets were a great backdrop, but the conversations mostly centered around everyone's personal life. Nikki stormed into Victor's office constantly, but it was never to talk business...

The problem with that scenario is that it means that Rick and Steffy committed actual incest when they were a couple... 🤢

Uncle and niece, it was gross even with the bio linage change since they grew up with that relationship. Although not brother-sister, it's still kinda gross ... like Brooke being with father, 3 brothers, almost Ridge's son, her daughter's husband, etc.

Heck, they almost had Ridge and Bridget go for it! B&B has always pushed those boundaries.

B&B conveniently forgets certain things - so that can be buried, especially with Rick off canvas indefinitely.

As stupid as it is, this is the most I've liked Bill in years. He makes much more sense as a villain. I already saw sparks of chemistry between DD and KB. What didn't make sense to me was Bill taking Li home and nursing her to health. I would expect him to be the type to care more about his car's upholstery than her life.

The Li thing was a bizarre plot gimmick. In theory the writers were like wouldn't this be a great twist and way to bring the far underutilized DD on canvas. It was obvious from the first scenes that this simply didn't work on any level, which is why it was abandoned. B&B is skilled at pivoting quickly.

$B being sanitized was a big mistake. B&B needs instigators like $B, Sheila, Quinn, Deacon, even Thomas, etc. to move stories forward. The rest of the characters are all *good* and that's not compelling to watch. Steffy has been declawed, which is a mistake.

I'm wondering how Finn will react when he finds out what $B was talking about when he kept mentioning Steffy in the same breath as Brooke and Katie. I'm assuming he's unaware.

    Finally, some new characters!

On paper yes, but the execution for new characters has been horrific. They brought 5 new characters from a *legacy* family when Sally2 was introduced. Disaster. Same with Avants.

Brad should try adding only 2 new character - Diana and RJ.

If they want to do a big twist: undo Ridge being Moss's son. Nobody wanted that. With Sheila on the canvas, she can certainly be the scapegoat. I guarantee the audience would glad accept that Ridge, Thomas, Steffy and RJ are bio-Forresters.

This correction allows Diana and RJ to become involved, which opens up a whole lot of story for numerous characters.

  23. After the reveal on B&B this week, I'd be quite disappointed if KB didn't have a scene for Tracey's episode. Interestingly, that twist opens a logic door for DD to also appear. Even though he's playing a different character, Lauren and Brad did have a thing back in the day. He was on Y&R for almost 25 years.
