  1. AN killed it in that scene with Steff-anie.

'You gonna regret it' aka 'I gonna be banging bouncing bibbity by next week.'

Brad has lost it. B&B is the easiest show to course correct. He's done it for years. I'm not sure why we've gone through 2 complete years without a single compelling storyline. Nothing.

Bottom line: most of us who are complaining/boycotting are doing it because we miss our show, not because we hate it.

  2. @Althea Davis Steffy would be in jail if B&B *remembered* that Steffy shot Sheila in Eric's hotel room (2017).

Revealing that would make it a far more interesting story. I'm assuming Finn doesn't know. For him, it would explain why Sheila is *threatened* by Steffy and maybe why Sheila brought a gun to the alley, etc.  Sheila agreed to keep quiet for Eric's sake, which makes her a bit more sympathetic.

However, B&B only has 'good' and 'toxic' characters - there's not in between, which is a bummer.

  3. @Althea Davis They probably took advantage of the fact that KB's contract was ending. Unlike Rena Sofer or Krista Allen, KB never said that contract negotiations failed or anything like that. That's also why KB is still *haunting* Finn.

If B&B ever intends on killing Sheila off for good, why wouldn't they set up a huge murder mystery? So many suspects. Heck, stage a huge bash with characters from Y&R visiting LA to celebrate some FC launch. Sheila crashes the party upping the drama. Close the episode with Sheila's 9-toed dead body floating in the Forrester pool.

Just another example of how far B&B has slipped: Steffy is facing potential murder charges, but she's focused on Thope.

  4. @Althea Davis Hope was morally centered *because* of Brooke! It was absolutely believable that Hope would not want to emulate her mother's choices. In fact, it was one of the best decisions Brad made about the character.

While I'm all for Hope evolving, but this is a 180. It's not like there was some shocking event that caused Hope to question her previous choices or even a natural progression. It's like one day she woke up and decided to have a purely physical relationship with her stalker, abuser, etc.

Maybe this Thomas fling has been the part of the evolution to make the real shocker - HINN - a tad more believable.

  5. @YRfan23 It's funny so many of us who've stopped watching post because we want the show to be better. What broke my regular viewing: I started watching the Belief/Sheila intro episodes on the B&B YT channel. I kept watching and watching until James/Sheila. Even the worst stuff (Dylan/Jessica, etc.) was far better than anything on today.

  6. @Errol B&B is the only soap that can't do the following:

    - Social Issues (homeless, Myron, alcoholism, etc.),

    - Murder Mysteries or Crime for that matter

    - Court room scenes (even for divorces) or

    - Medical.

It's remarkable that they somehow can't even get basic soap staples a go.

No wonder we've been in endless triangle loops for 37 years!

  7. Since P&G is involved, what I would've done is take the 'As The World Turns' branding and built off of that. Same premise as The Gates, except you have huge branding that exists and the ability to launch with some a few of the existing ATWT characters - such as Jessica or Jade. Throw in a couple of legacy characters a legacy family like the Stewarts and pivot from there. It's extremely hard to start from scratch.

Reboots have been done successfully in prime time, Hawaii 5-0, SWAT, CSI, etc.

It won't happen, but we all know how extremely hard it is for a new soap to launch. Regardless, I'm extremely excited about the show and what seems to be huge backing by the network to make this a success.

  8. Honestly, what B&B needs to do is go back to the Domino's alley from 2022. Turns out Steffy slipped and fell while confronting Sheila, who with Deacon and Finn's help took Steffy to the hospital where she's been in a coma and having these horrific dreams: 9-toes, $B-Sheila-Bunhead, Steffy gaining custody of Douglas for like a day, Thomas/Hope(as if!), Eric obsession with a stapler almost killed him(!), Brooke *rejecting* Hollis(!), some Luna girl, who may be $B, Jack, Finn's(!) daughter, somehow confused Zende with RJ after popping mints(!) etc.

Steffy's finally had enough and wills herself to wake up from this trainwreck to find Deacon fell in love with Sheila after saving Steffy's life, Taylor and Ridge got married, Eric passed after he remarried Brooke, who now controls FC, $B is sniffing after Brooke and FC, Thomas is his normal, crazy self.  Lope, Katie and Carter are still boring. Quinn, Wyatt, Flo and are somewhere in LA, but nobody cares.

And just like every other B&B story that never gets mentioned after they move on to the next one, the show will go on and be the better for it.

  9. Doesn't B&B only follow Y&R in about 50% of the country? In many cities: it's Y&R, local news, B&B

CBS tried to get B&B to expand to an hour in the 90s, but the Bells refused. While that worked when the schedule had 4 soaps, I think it's hurt them during the past decade. The narrow format has really hampered the show's ability to add depth to the canvas. It's the same merry-go-round and that's really burned them since 2021.

  10. @Althea Davis@1974mdp I used to *pitch* that B&B should have the younger characters clubbing, experimenting, fastlife, etc. especially in LA fashion world.

After seeing that B&B's average viewer is 70 yo, I understand why that's never happened. If B&B and soaps could draw in younger demos, it could be more Gossip Girl than Golden Girls, but it's not. Of course, I'm sure those watching via Paramount are far younger, but still it's a tough road to draw younger.

  11. Is there a projected launch date for TG? Is it supposed to be ready for to kick off fall 2024 or fall 2025 with the rest of CBS daytime? Launching in the spring is a bad idea - from lower viewing audiences to the multiple pre-emptions on CBS for soccer and basketball.

The first two- to three years of a new soap are rough. It takes a while to figure out a rhythm. Look at B&B, Passions, Generations, SoBe, The City and PC. All of them struggled in some fashion whether it was casting, storylines, pacing, etc. When PC finally figured it out, ABC cancelled it.

B&B's clearance rate was 90%ish until the early 90s. I wonder how many CBS stations will opt out simply because it's a soap.

  12. Still boycotting, but reading recaps and gleaming a lot from all y'all observations!

    1. Eventually Bill Sr. admitted the Dru r*pe by Malcolm on Y&R was wrong. It unfortunate that story made such an impression that Brad has used it twice. And both times, the victim is somehow at fault. Just gross.

    2. Luna knows Poppy takes strong mints. How is it that Luna became that drugged out, while Poppy seems to pop them with no impairment? Have they shown any scenes where Poppy also is drugged out?

    3. I don't suppose the coroner noted obvious plastic surgery on *Sheila* or DNA or toes.

    4. Will the traditionally March Madness Wednesday cliffhanger involve Sheila? Yeah, that's rhetorical.

    5. Will B&B bring up Ally's 'mur-dah' and when Steffy shot Sheila in the hotel room? B&B writing has to move away from characters either being good or evil. The way they dismissed Taylor's premeditated shooting of $B or her role in the baby snatching is ludicrous - 'Taylor, that's not who you are!' Yes, Taylor that is exactly who you are once Bradley decided to destroy her character.

    6. B&B is so frustrating because they just burn through stories and characters so fast and skip so many beats. What's odd is that B&B has no reason to do this.  What was the darned rush to *kill* off Sheila? Couldn't they have at least worked in even two scenes a week for the past two months? Or more scenes with Sheila bonding with Finn?

  13. @dragonflies You beat me to it! I'll keep repeating this: B&B has no real protagonists / antagonists on canvas. If not for KB, who can still act rings around the rest of the cast, the show would be ... what you've witnessed during the non-Sheila moments over the past two years.

What I simply don't get is why they don't invest in the build up? There's already established pre-Finn history between Steffy/Sheila aka Steffy shooting Sheila and all the Sheila Forrester stuff.

What's the rush? Oh, yeah, the ratings slide has been accelerating.

  14. @AbcNbc247 Actually Casey *was* right! The show hasn't been the same since Sheila shot Steffy and *killed* Finn over a bottle of champagne. Who thought anyone would want to see that? Except for the Monaco reunion, every single story has been a dud. B&B historically could wrap a bad s/l quick and move on to something that was decent or even good. Not this time.

    Since Monaco: Sheila's toe, Taylor/Ridge, Sheila/$B/Bunman, Thomas cured in 3 weeks/overnight custody battle that fizzled, Braylor, Rome - B&B's worst int'l remote, Steam droplets, Thomas/Hope, Eric's stapler, Zende/Luna r@pemance.

Seriously, not one good story in TWO years. I'm surprised someone hasn't intervened.

  15. Brad has totally forgotten about nuance. He's completely declawed/neutered: Steffy, Thomas, $B, Deacon and Sheila to an extent. Meanwhile, he turned Zende into a R@pist.

The best part of daytime is the ability to different sides to characters, which is why so many daytime characters actually *seem* like real people. B&B had that in the 90s: Stephanie, Sheila, Clark, Sally, Mike, even Brooke. All these characters had significant moral/ethical issues, but we also saw other sides to them.

All those characters' bad sides were essential to moving the story forward. Let's face it: baddies = protagonists, otherwise you have a very dull show.

Sheila doesn't need to be homicidal maniac to push the story forward. Sheila as mother-in-law works! Seriously, MIL are villains! Liam needs to turn *bad* and $B and Deacon need to get their edge back.

Sorry but a declawed Steffy with Stepford Hubby Finn is boring. The actors, characters and the show deserve better. On a show like B&B, it isn't hard to pivot. But for the past 2 years, B&B hasn't been able to do it.

  16. Soaps have always been built on women being victims.

Brad's goal here: Get Zende with Luna, but we need to keep Luna as the 'good girl' for RJ.

If Luna voluntarily hooked up with Zende, she'd be pegged by the 70 yo B&B demo as another SFTV. That kind of sexual freedom is an absolute no-no on B&B, except for Brooke, who is following her heart.... It's too bad B&B's audience wants to watch rich, 20-something get married/babies by 25, instead of a more realistic decadent lifestyle of partying, clubbing, experimentation, sexual freedom, etc.

Brad decide to follow the Thomas/C2/Douglas template. Honestly, Brad probably got that idea from his father who did the Dru cough medicine hook-up with Malcolm on Y&R resulting in Lily. Bill Bell did some disgusting stories, but those get whitewashed because overall, he produced far more winners than losers.

  17. Honestly, LG's comments are part of Corday's legal narrative: 'See, we fixed the problem.'

The timing of her comments is too perfect. If I were representing Corday, that's exactly what I would do.

The case will get settled, AZ will be offered a better contract. It's clear she loves her job - but it'll be her choice.

It'll be interesting if all this publicity actually increases streaming numbers. There really is no such thing as bad publicity.

  18. 7 hours ago, te. said:

I'm sure it'll be like most other soap fires where it "burns to the ground" and then is magically rebuilt with just a coat of new paint on the walls (if that).

No doubt. I can't believe how fans lose their minds over such an obvious ploy. No way that shoestring budget *allows* for an existing set to be scrapped or replaced.

Same set with maybe 3 new throw pillows: 'Here's a sneak peak at the all-new, Horton family room set!"

  19. Anyone read AA's lawyer's statement? Yep, they're really going there.

'...[AZ] is now – again – trying to exploit vile stereotypes to denigrate and demean a Black man who was in a position of power. Well, enough is enough...'

I should clarify my statement about Sony settling. I should've said Sony and Peacock will pressure Corday to settle. Whether they are named defendants is irrelevant - every article mentioning this case will mention Sony and Peacock.
