I'd really bring back Shelley Curtis as executive producer. She can still run a tight ship, and was doing it on Bold as a director, and I do think she could handle it on a budget and the canvas wouldn't suffer. This is what she had to say with Maurice Benard back in December 2021 (published time) concerning budget, etc: It's riveting to hear someone, especially a female, talk about her process and how she does things. It's amazing. But again, we need Nathan Varni gone and for ABC Television to not be running things.

I think she did the best she could, honestly. But, the move to the west coast really improved things, especially since [most] of the sets were re-build from ground zero. And I felt she and her team did a good job with them, as well as the outdoor scenes (more so than General Hospital ever has done). Because people just want that connection, even though there is zero reason for it. Not all soaps need to be related, LOL. Oh, absolutely, and that's exciting.

If the specs were right, I'd love for Tyler Perry Studios to be used. But, if production cannot bring in their own cameras etc then I'd be against it. The camera work by Perry at the studios feels very... web series level. Here are a list of studios on the lot. There are twelve of them. In comparison, here are the list of studios at Television City; I know The Price is Right filmed in Stage 33, which is one of the larger studios. The Young and the Restless films on Stage 43 (109’ x 110’), while The Bold and the Beautiful films on Stage 31 (130’ x 110’). All of the studios at Tyler Perry Studios are 100' x 200', except for Studio 1 (a.k.a. Oprah Winfrey soundstage), which is at 154' x 252'.

ARTICLE: REPORT: Bob Guza and Julie Carruthers Named Executive Producers of ‘The Gates’
So far only name is Val Jean, and the reported Emmy winner (unnamed). I'm okay with names as head writers, for right now, and then allow those hired in as script / breakdown writers to learn the ropes from Val Jean and those she brings in name-wise.

ARTICLE: REPORT: Bob Guza and Julie Carruthers Named Executive Producers of ‘The Gates’
While I would have wished for new names, I am [cautiously] welcoming back Bob Guza and Julie Hanan Farruthers back to the daytime fold. Now, I need to see Patrick Mulcahey named as one of the head writers, stat! Do we have word, as I cannot recall, if Michele Val Jean is also one of the head writers for this?

I don't dislike her as much as others; I feel like she did what she could with what she had, and felt she did well as transferring the soap from the east to west coasts, and keeping [most] of her cast on board. Plus, the HD production for All My Children was some of the best, ever! OPE!

So, if I break it down right, here is who we have thus far: Jessica (early 50's) – psychiatrist at Garland Memorial Medical Center Betty (late 60's to 70's) – a famous singer Betty's husband (age N/A) – former Senator [unconfirmed to yet-be cast] Joseph (50's) – criminal defense attorney Sara Jackson (mid-to-late 40's) – Joseph's ex-wife, who dropped out of high school to pursue modeling; made to be full-time mother and husband by Joseph Jonelle Allen is just outside of their desired age-range for Betty.- BTG: History, Behind the Scenes Articles & Photos

Yes, there was. ❝ Another character the show is looking for someone to play is Betty, a Black female in her late 60s to 70s. She is a family matriarch. (Betty surely will be joining the ranks of other soap opera beloved moms. Read about other matriarchs here.) A famous singer, Betty did not find success easily. She is proud to have raised two daughters with her iconic retired Senator husband. While she’s a doting mother, Betty is not someone who should be crossed. ❞- Y&R: Former Actor Back?

- ALL: The niche potential for streaming classic soaps
Considered the first-two aired during the pandemic, albeit edited, and the first episode was available on CBS.com at some point, I'd wager it is entirely possible.- Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Another one who shouldn't be celebrated is back. SMFH.- Y&R: July 2024 Discussion Thread
I haven't seen the scenes ⏤ I am still months behind ⏤ but saw them in this pose via CBS' official website, and it's in poor taste. I don't know whether it's Eric Braeden's demeanor or the pose (in bare-shoulder) from Amelia Heinle, or even both. I don't see it happening. Hunter King is in a multi-picture deal with Hallmark, and it seems to be very successful for her. So I don't see her backing out to return to daytime at this time. Plus, Allison Lanier is probably this soap's smartest hire/recast in a long-ass time, and has done a fine job with the shït material she's been handed. I don't see them firing her to re-hire someone who has quit multiple times (a-la Michelle Stafford). I know I'm in a slim minority but, I really liked Elizabeth Leiner as Tara Locke, and would not mind her return.- GH: Seeing is Believing | promo (week of July 29, 2024)
