I would wager two-or-three months ahead. Since less than one-month passed from episodic debut (January 21) to announcement of his exit (February 11). I would assume once he began filming, they made the ultimate choice to recast, a-la what happened at Days of Our Lives with Natalia Livingston/Tamara Braun in the role of Taylor Walker.

From what I gather: Simone left Port Charles with Tommy Jnr, after she ended her relationship with Justus. And after ending things with Felicia, Tom just returned to Africa. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Lisa Niles was a bit too much for me but, damn... Robert Guza Jnr knew how to write the dramatics. And, to think, this was at the end of his tenure. She did well in the role of Claudia; but it was much less expansive as Pamela Bellwood's Claudia in the original series. And the remake was fairly enjoyable, too.

I keep thinking about the "new" Capwell set, and how destroyed it would have been. No grand staircase and we'd likely be stuck with the smaller parlor room (a-la DAYS) from the original set. So sad. And I have a feeling the set where Elaine worked would've been one small table, and no outdoor eating area. Hamilton was very cold in the role, but held the definition of "tall, dark, handsome and moody" going down, which they obviously didn't want in the end. Plus, he wasn't in the role long, from episodic debut, to announce of exit, to his actual exit. He debuted on January 21; his exited was announced on February 11, and then by February 19 he was out. Cibrian debuted two-days later on February 21. Hamilton said his departure was by mutual decision based on the "evolution of the character from the way it was initially conceived," so I fully believe they wanted to warm the role of Cole a bit to match Caitlin a bit more. And then they went and recast Caitlin. I feel like Hamilton would have worked with Kam Haskin a bit better than he did with Dorman.

Yeah, her being in it for twenty-nine episodes before she showed up was... a choice? But get that pay-day Ms. Garita.

My first-watch, I liked it, then swapped to Santa Barbara and tried returning to Sunset Beach, and found it beyond jarring. But I am enjoying it again on my second-go (again, forgot where I left off... I remember wooded areas, but felt like I missed out on so much prior). So, I'm re-watching again and it's fun. It's definitely got that Aaron Spelling/E. Duke Vincent vibe that Beverly Hills, 90210 had. The sets were so unique to daytime, as well. You can tell Spelling/Vincent wanted a specific look for the sets, and they worked for a Spelling/Vincent production. But, much like Santa Barbara, I imagine they'd be shells of themselves by the mid-2000's. The first theme is not my favourite; it's a very primetime-feeling opening, almost 90210 feeling. The second theme is my favourite, and then it reminds me of the fall 2005 update Guiding Light got (and I believe they did it more effectively). And the "Shockwave" edit of the theme? Even better. I feel like Vanessa Dorman (Caitlin) got an alt-take update. A few of them did. And I feel like Susan Ward's clip was re-edited to not be as faded. Don't know why, but yeah... it's very clear they taped the "opening" prior to filming of the series. Maybe they did it for [most] cast who auditioned, as a "just in case" kind of thing? And man, the upgrade from Ashley Hamilton to Eddie Cibrian was a WIN!

Cassie's death is one I am alright with, because it is fallout we still feel today.

I totally forgot about: Insane. Absolutely insane. That wouldn't fly in today's daytime world. I'm also wondering... when the Hell was the opening shot? 'Cause Priscilla Garita did not show up until the thirtieth episode, and Adrienne Frantz's hair was never like that in the series. Must've been at casting, etc.

She'll be a baby-making machine off-screen, and then when they want Ciara full-time and recast her, that poor actress...

Same. Plus, we have Ric Lansing right now, and he's far more effective and relevant to the canvas than Scott Baldwin has been. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I doubt he wanted to; he was in and out so quick it was like lightening. Probably saw what he was dealing with (executive production/network/co-head), said "Fück this. I'm going back to my peaceful life," and left.
