  1. He didn't get the part. Brian Green AKA Singing Sam did. As for Mitch Longley, he came in September 1991 She was born on Somerset. When their marriage crumbled, (I think Sam had an affair) Lahoma took her and left. Sam then went back to Bay City but eventually found them and left to go be with them.
  2. Wasn't that only because they wanted Chris Bruno on the show after he auditioned for Sam and didn't get it?
  3. Very puzzling. I chalk it up to writers wanting to mine the history of a soap but not knowing enough about it to mine it. And the way so many characters came and went on AW, it was almost like the show sometimes did story arcs, like what was done on Port Charles or on telenovelas.
  4. Did AW ever gain any ground at all at this time? Every monthly rating posted, it's pretty much in the same place or has the same rating.
  5. From what I've read, Ted got out of a mental hospital and got recovering addict Nicole hooked on cocaine again. Jamie was dating Nicole at the time and tried to stop him, so Ted planted drugs on him and Jamie was arrested. Perry was pulled into it too somehow and ended up getting shot by Ted. Eventually, Ted's schemes were exposed and he was sent back to the mental hospital. This all lasted for like 5-6 months. I think Ted was another missed opportunity for the show. He could've driven story for years.
  6. That's what a lot of people think because they had same name but the show was never really clear about who her mother was. The only thing I remember Russ saying about it was that him and Olivia's mother were divorced. I think it was just a case of the writers not studying Russ' history well enough when Olivia Matthews came in, especially since it was said several times in 1980-81 that Olivia Delaney couldn't have children.
  7. I’ll admit l don’t know that much about the show but from what I’ve seen of it, it seemed ok. The execs. just needed to spend a little more time on it. I know it was Frons’ pet project. Thanks!
  8. Why did NBC give up on Generations so quickly? Pretty much every NBC soap was at the bottom of the ratings in its first year or two. What was different about this one?
  9. I agree. Trying to turn AW into a DAYS clone was one of the biggest mistakes of those final years. Was Joanna Going fired or did she choose to leave on her own?
  10. Now if only his son would follow suit lol
  11. I'm not 100% sure but I did read that somewhere. I think GH was the biggest reason why SB didn't do so well too. But I think it was around this time that NBC started to get tired of P&G and wanted AW gone, or at least be its sole owner.
  12. Probably. Wasn't AW being blamed for SB's poor performance at the time by NBC?
  13. I liked her work too. Her and Peggy Sloane's tenures were the last good ones before the problems (sabotage?) began.
  14. I always thought that too, also that after a while she became more interested in creating and writing for Jenna.
  15. I'm not sure but I don't think so. I know when Lucas first came in, there was a scene between him and Felicia where he thought Lisa was their daughter and he accused Felicia of lying to him about her, but I think she was always meant to be Felicia's niece. I think she was brought in as the focal point of the Sin Stalker story. The story was that the Sin Stalker had killed Lisa's parents when she was younger because he was so obsessed with her. From what I remember, Lisa left because she had just given up fighting for Jamie. I wish she had stayed though. I really liked the Lisa/Jamie/Vicky triangle.
  16. Slick, this thread is amazing. Don't let anybody's random posts get you down.
  17. Here's an example of what I mean when I said two different characters. I can't picture Eric Martsolf in this scene. Screaming and crying? No way, he'd be trying to fight the demons.
  18. There was tons of potential for all of these characters, but by the mid 80's, the show was definitely more interested in writing for the Loves and the McKinnons, at the expense of the Matthewses, Ewings and Hobsons.
  19. I know. It must really be a bad feeling to play a part for so long and then one day you're suddenly gone, like all those years you spent there meant nothing. I feel the same way about Jed Allan and Joe Gallison on DAYS.
  20. I would love to see that happen, but at the same time I really don't want it to be cancelled.
  21. They weren't written out. They just stopped appearing during the purge of 1986-87. Their last appearance was at Zane's funeral.
  22. Clarice came into the show in 1975. She was the girlfriend of the guy that Iris hired to seduce Rachel away from Mac. She was the one who exposed Iris' schemes and Iris swore revenge on her. Clarice then started dating Robert and got pregnant by him. Iris then married Robert and threatened to take Clarice's baby from her if she told Robert about her pregnancy. Eventually, Robert found out, dumped Iris and left town. Clarice then gave birth and then met and married Gil's son, Burt. Eventually, they divorced and Clarice met and married Larry.
  23. Of course he loved it. It brought the show from #7 in the ratings to #2
  24. That's for sure. From what I've seen and read, it seemed like things moved way too fast, like she had no sense of pacing or characterization at all. And yes, it did seem like the show got very dark in 1982, plus that was the year that Alma was introduced.
