Not to veer too off topic: Northern Exposure and Picket Fences may have dominated the Emmys in the ‘90s, but lived in the shadow of Twin Peaks, then Chicago Hope in the shadow of ER. They never had that linchpin, pop culture show until maybe CSI. I rarely hear anyone discuss NE, PF, or CH these days, partially because they aren’t streaming aside from PF. I’m glad to see Wiseguy on Peacock, but I guess it’s a bit radioactive due to Spacey.
Maybe I’m underselling NE, because the Rob Morrow/Janine Turner romance was a big deal in hindsight.
I assume Northern Exposure and Chicago Hope isn't streaming because of music rights?!

I imagined a story at some point when Esther talked about online dating.
She talks to a guy and they get along and eventually decide to meet.
Esther is shocked to see'Tiny' and he doesn't remember her at all.
Esther has to face up to whether to tell him who she is and that he has a daughter. Then you have Chole's reaction etc.
And it would give both Esther and Chloe something to do other than go in between Chelsea and Sally and have hardly any screentime.

Chase is awesome with Brook Lynn. So VERY NO to Elizabeth & Chase. Hate people calling Elizabeth"Liz" since she is almost never called that on the show itself!
I prefer Chase and Brook Lynn too. I'm just not a fan of how they're keeping them apart after they gave Weezy back to Maxie. You would think they would be together now instead of another obstacle in their way.

I thought this would never happen!
I'm curious as anyone else from the old days will be appearing in Beyond Salem 2?

Brad Bell strikes me as someone who has run out of steam after 30 years on the job. WJB had a sustainable specific vision. But Brad Bell goes to show you that a long term specific vision doesn't always remain great.
I do wonder if WJB we're still alive, wether the show would have still suffered the same major writing decline as all soaps have.
CBS Daytime remaining #1 -- only God knows how-- has blinded the exces and possibly the cast into believing they're still delivering good product. Nostalgia and loyalty alone are keeping all these soaps alive.
I know he would never do but I wish Brad Bell would just hand over the reins to someone more competent wit creativity i.e., Michele Val Jean and let him be the Executive Producer who is somewhat a figurehead of the show.

I'm actually glad someone remembered Craig and Nancy were high school sweethearts.

Same. I was disappointed there was no immediate Diane follow-up.
It was interesting watching Wednesday’s watching the the Abbott dynamic vs. the Newman. The Abbott dynamic felt pretty warm and the interaction between the four well, was dynamic and fun! The Newman’s just feel cold and icy, and the interaction just lukewarm and tiresome.
It would have more interesting if either Victor and/or Nikki have some type of inkling that Diane was alive creating at least some type of uneasy undercurrent to their family feud, like feeling distracted or distressed about something worse coming their way without letting the kids know about it but it be noticeable.
I agree Newman has done a terrific job as Ashland so far as been able to a wider range of emotions and energy than I think Burgi did. I probably sound like a broken record by now but Ashland needs additional relatives; this whole Newman-Locke story would have worked out far better with Locke kids from a previous marriage ingratiating themselves in GC as well.
The past few weeks there’s only been A&B stories on the show, I guess they realized they rest just wasn’t working out and relegated everyone else to F and Z stories as talk to characters? LOL.
I do wish that Ashland did have grown children or at least Tara was played by someone who had actual charisma and wasn't played by an actress who didn't have that. I wished they would've recast her with someone like Bree Williamson or Alexa Havins. Tara could've been secretly helping her husband taking control of Newman until he double-crosses her, and she decided to seek revenge.

Cut the Cast: This show needs to trim the cast so there won't be so many cast members going in and out due to budget and time constraints. For starters, Leo, Gwen, Jake, and Nicole can all exit permanently.
Go back to basics: Sadly, this isn't 1995 and you aren't the number two show in the ratings, which means you should stop doing supernatural and paranormal stories like the show has done to varying degrees of success in the past. Focus on what made the show initially popular, which was a show centering around the trials and tribulations of the Horton family and the characters orbiting around them. I would bring back Mike Horton, along with his son Jeremy, who decided to become a doctor like his father and great-grandfather. Perhaps Marie too, to reestablish the family. They can all reside in the Horton home with Doug and Julie. That house has been the centerpiece since day one and needs to be full of that family.
And if Kristian Alfonso doesn't want to come back then recast Hope Williams Brady with Noelle Beck or a past soap veteran or out of work primetime actress who can handle the daily grind of soaps. Her children our going through these big changes and she isn't there makes zero sense to me.

So bored with the Newmans. The Abbotts are so much more dynamic to me, even in their currently depleted state.
This! Today's episode dragged for me. It's reminded me of Bold and Beautiful with only story being told on screen and everyone else reacting to it.

Christine being a procecutor and going against Sharon, Victoria, Nikki, and Phyliss for killing JT also didnt help. She used to stabd up for the abused now she's percecuting them. This is similar to Molly on GH procecuting Trina.
If Michael Baldwin had he retained his edgyness he would have been a better DA, if they kept him as an outsider charachter.
And not to mention she was a good friend to Sharon starting when Sharon was raped by Matt Clark too.

Diane Jenkins is getting the treatment that should be pulled out for Sheila Carter and Mari Jo Mason. I'm like half of the things she has done don't begin to compare what Phyllis has done in her life.

I like Mimi and don't hate FF as Mimi, but I don't think that's a popular opinion. There are a lot of things you could do with the character of Mimi. I assume Phillip will be back eventually. They can't pretend he's missing forever lol. Idk, bring them both back and it could shake up the Last Blast group. There are plenty of characters to ditch on this show to make room for the two of them
And Pocket/Tyler is still out there. I'm sure he's some angry twenty-something by now.

If you don't know the history of Sheila Carter, you would think that Finn is Sheila's only child. They haven't even mentioned Mary or Diana by name. I don't count those twins she had on Why and Are with Tom Fisher. I wished they would've casted Mary Warwick by now. And I'm sure Ian Buchanan could've appeared as James for a stint.
BTW: Has anyone called Jack and Li? Fin's actual parents to tell them about their son's demise yet. You bring on Ted King and Naomi Matsuda and do absolutely nothing with them. Brad Bell collects stars like Ash Ketchum catches Pokémon.

I said the same thing on Twitter yesterday. I was like let's put on our thinking caps and think whose been after your family since Bush Sr. was in the White House.

The twist sounds as shocking as Ally Forrester's death.
A death that should've never happened to begin with. Aly had potential to be a good character to have on the canvas long-term. She reminded me so much of Jennifer Finnigan's Bridget. But of course, Brad had to kill her on the PCH.
I wished someone like Ridge would've told her that this idealized version of Darla was something that Thorne and Stephanie told her and that her mother herself wasn't like that at all.

Same here. It’s bad when the only thing memorable is wondering why Nate and Billy are wearing matching purple coats
On a more serious note if there was one highlight in today’s show it would have been the Chelsea/Sally scenes. This is the type of relationship the two should have had from the start and not the ridiculous instant rivalry stuff.
I still wish Ashland had additional kids to be sticking their finger into GC’s businesses to expand the Locke presence.
Agree on all points!!! Too bad They didn't find a capable actress for the role of Tara she could've shoehorned her way into Jabot.

I just can't accept that billion dollar tech firms operate out of a smallish Wisconsin town by people with no qualifications and staff.
I'm reminded of that story with Abby and the incubator story that turned into sex trafficking. It's too many companies on this show. I just wish they would have Jabot, Newman and Hamilton-Winters. While Chancellor should be in the background like it has been for years.

I say that about Chicago Hope because of clips and few episodes I've seen they would play music during the operations. Though someone told me that Chicago Hope was on Hulu a few years ago but episodes were missing. IDK.
