The thing is, though, I don't think - if it is either actor - they are holding the show hostage. As a matter of fact, in the case of Jeff Webber, RDA has made it plain more than once that he is done with Jeff. It's TPTB that think some miracle will occur and RDA will miraculously change his mind.

OG MacGyver has probably provided him a good enough nest egg where he doesn't need GH anymore. So I blame those in charge, not the actor who has already made his stance clear.

I bet both MacGyver and Stargate SG1 has kept RDA going good for years financially.

They must have asked RDA 10-20 times in the last 30 years. There's no reason to expect him to return.

At this point recast Jeff with a Soap Vet in his 60's or 70's and keep it moving.

    I noticed that too.

It did seem like something was missing from those scenes, especially from Kayla.

I don't know it was the dialogue or maybe the actors? But it was just off to me. I did feel like MBE was downplaying her connection to Marcus like he was some doctor she knew from University Hospital 35 years ago. Instead of her husband's oldest friend who was close to her when he "died."

Who do you think is Jada's mother? Could it be someone from Marcus's past?

I hear speculations that it could be Grace Brooks (Lexie's cousin) or Faith Taylor.

A veteran star refused this soaps offer to return for a limited run.

Look for surprising returns and new additions at this sudser.

This soap alum was happy to see a former co star, one of the shows veterans at an event. However, the latter didn't recognize the former.

I think it was either Richard Dean Anderson for Elizabeth's story or Steve Bond's for Austin hence why we're getting this story with Austin slightly being shadier than before.

Most likely it's DAYS with the Beyond Salem 2 crew.

    The last one stumps me.

Lol I’ll take a guess but what do I know lol.

    1) Ian Buchanan and B&B?

    2) Definitely Days IMO though I wish it was Y&R but who am I kidding.

    3) LMAO I can so easily see Eric Braeden being the show veteran not recognizing the former alumni…but as to who this soap alum is I haven’t a clue.

1 was one of my guesses too.

The producers of Neighbours have worked very hard on finale returns. Many, many legends, stars, fan favorites from the last 35 years have agreed to return. Those who could not be there in person due to careers, like Margot Robbie, are going to film clips.

I can't help comparing to the choice to heavily downplay returns in ATWT's last years, for the sake of mediocre to poor storylines and  pet characters.

I'll never forgive Chris Goutman for the shabby sendoff given to a household soap for generations, a crown jewel.

    THIS!

I was so disappointed we didn't get any returns from Andy, Grant, Lien, etc., I wouldn't have minded a return from an eighteen-year-old Hope Dixon who we find out will be attending Oakdale University and will be staying Bob & Kim who decides to follow in both of her grandfather John footsteps to become a doctor.

Throne's return should have had him teaming with Spectra to overtake Forrester, instead of short-term pining for Brooke.

This! And I wished they would've included CJ more into this. It seemed when they brought him back, he was over Spectra.

The revival didn't feel like a waste of time to me. I was quite surprised when Brad Bell dropped them like a hot potato because it DID work for me perfectly.

Darlita and Saul Jr. should've been their own characters instead of being clones of their protypes.

MSL has seemed a little thirsty to return, but so did Miranda Wilson, and look how that worked out! I'd happily take Anne back either as a fun background character or if they actually deepened her backstory, like they had started to do with her crush on Lucas at the end of her run. I also fear what Ron would do with her -- it's such a runaway train once he gets his hands on someone he considers "funny."

I would make her Susan Martin's daughter Annie. I'm sure if it possible they could get Denise Alexander for a few episodes to have Anne's mother visit and get reacquainted with her former Frenemy Julie Williams. It would also explain her hatred towards the Hortons. Heck you could even develop a relationship with Lucas until Ron and Co. decide to put him back with Sami or someone else.

Agree with everything you said.  I am sure Brook talks to Lois, but Lois seems like a character who would not want phone calls and want to be there in person.  She's nothing if not protective and sometimes overbearing with Brooklynn.

I agree Matt Cedeno looks right for the Brandon as well.  He looked so distinctly different from Nicole and the Taylors I am surprised it took everyone so long to question his paternity lol.  But then Nicole/Taylor don't look much like Paul either so who knows?

I wonder if it's possible would Rena Sofer be up for a recurring stint while still being on Bold like how Wally does GH and DAYS. Lois would work in stints to visit Brookie. Reacquaint herself with Ned, the rest of the Q's and Sonny. If not recast with i.e., Gina Tognoni or Alicia Coppola.

Other people I would like to see return.

Drucilla Barber Winters (The Young and The Restless) - I think I speak for everyone that wants Drucilla Winters alive and back on Y&R, played by Victoria Rowell. It is an understatement. Her presence is clearly missing across the canvas.

Amber Moore - (Bold and Beautiful) - I would need her to be more mature than her last stint. Maybe Forrester isn't doing well, and they see Amber is blowing up with her designs, so they try to lure her for some cushy design gig. This way, they could also bring on Eric Jr/Little D as a twenty-something. That way, we could finally have both of Deacon's children on screen.

Tommy Hardy - (General Hospital) It's sad this show doesn't have more Hardy-Webbers (we can go on about the lack of Liz). Tommy could be a pediatrician like his mother and could stay with Liz and the boys while he mixes it across canvas. He could be a love interest for Britt, Maxie, or Terry.

Serena Baldwin (General Hospital) - We all know why.

Lucky Spencer (General Hospital) - One of Laura's children with Luke should be on canvas, and they're probably waiting for Lulu to wake up when Sam and Dante get engaged. He could come home from South Africa or Ireland (or wherever he is) to atone for not being there for Liz and the boys. Liz and others can confront him over his lack of fathering especially with Aiden. But over time, he overcomes it. Jeff Branson would be my top choice for a recast.

  8. The long-absent characters I want back on my screen.

Mike Horton (Days Of Our Lives) - It's quite maddening that no one is working at Salem University Hospital with the last name Horton. Either reach out to Michael T. Weiss (Is he still acting?) or Roark Critchlow to reprise Mike. He could come to town at the request of Seth Burns, who is fed up with Kayla's lack of "true leadership" at the hospital. Not to mention, Mike wants to run the same hospital his grandfather once did. The story could also spill into the sexism and ageism problems in the work force,

Jeremy Horton (Days Of Our Lives) - Again, this show barely has any Hortons of use on this show. Bring Jeremy with an actor in their mid to late 30's. You can take the character in a different direction by making him a doctor, who, in a way, is trying to live up to the esteem reputation of his grandfather and father. He could build a bond with Doug and Julie. And perhaps when Gwen gets out of prison, she could do volunteer work there, and at first, they clash over what happened between her and his cousin Abby. But they begin to fall for one another, much to the disapproval of the rest of the Hortons.

Joy Wesley - (Days Of Our Lives) - This show needs a twenty-something character who isn't related to everyone on the canvas. She wouldn't have any problems being in any romantic pairings, and Chloe and Nancy are still on the canvas. She could be either a therapist or involved in the hospital administration.

Jonah, Wendy, and Benjamin (Days Of Our Lives)- Abe could always use more family, and if they're so hellbent against bringing in Theo or Brandon full-time, they can bring back Abe's brother and his family. I mean, you could put Jonah and Wendy on recurring with Bumper Robinson and Kent King in the roles. Jonah still can be a doctor and Wendy a social worker. Benjamin, who is probably in his 30's now, can be a doctor or cop. Besides they could have other children who our elsewhere and could be brought on when need be.

Felicia Forrester (Bold and Beautiful) - I think between Throne, Kristen, and Felicia, the latter brings more story opportunities onto the canvas. Maybe Forrester is having issues as the company realizes they can't rely on the once upper echelon clientele to keep them in business. So, Eric calls Felicia to come home from Paris to help out with the designs since her time at International has been successful. Thomas can be pissed because he wanted to be lead designer, which caused some friction there. Meanwhile, they could also bring in Dino for Paris. She could be the "matriarch" of the Forrester family since Stephanie isn't there anymore.

I have more I will add soon.

That's a pretty decent interview, except the interviewer is such a bumbling simpleton.  John James talks about shooting the Dynasty pilot with George Peppard, and the poor interviewer says, "Wow.  I didn't know that."  I guess he didn't even bother to read the Wikipedia page on Dynasty prior to the interview.

He needs to do research. There's Wikipedia, books, heck even a few Dynasty docs out there to watch.

I look forward to these episodes. I vividly remember the Hollywood Tribute Fashion Show but have totally blanked James' Scottland tale - like completely. So either I did not see consecutive episodes back then or didn't like it. LOL

I'm currently at #1580: Macy's alcolism had a really rough start and I have still trouble to accept the super fast descent into addiction because it does not fit with Macy for me. However, as you pointed out, it suddenly gets a gripping tale and everythign begins to click. It's really touching to see Macy caring for Kevin and trying to get her act together and face Thorne. But by the time Keith gets active it's (almost) too late for Macy who's in the downward sprial of drinking in the morning (and covering it from everyone else) or sleeping in the hallway of Sly's apartment. The inpromptu intervention in Sally's office was really good. Schae Harrison once again had the tough job to play Darla ditsy and yet not to drown the serious topic in mud. Darla standing up to Macy and the addict's attempt to take her out as the weakest link at the interention was AMAZING. I also like the layers in Sly who does not have ill intentions but is caught between a rock and a hards place because Macy does obviously not reciprocate his love for her, yet he is pining for her and can easily be stringed along. These storylines needed more focus and by June/July these characters got it. The most fascinating part probably is that Brad Bell backburnered Sheila of all people to make room it. And it works extremely well to see Sheila in a low key storyline all sudden now that she is married to Eric. Bringing her into Brooke's orbit and yet desperate to save Eric's life work and wealth is a stroke of genius. Oh, the drama!

The battle of BeLieF is exactly as good as I remembered it. The twist with the signed copy of the contract was great fun - and I had TOTALLY forgotten that Stephanie caused the Forresters to loose Forrester Creations eventually. This was never properly adressed later on in the show, IMO. It always seemed like it was Eric's fault because did not settle his bills with Brooke properly upon his divorce. To the contrary: gloating Stephanie revealed the betrayal of the Forresters and made Brooke so angry.

I'm curious whether the following is an unpopular opinion or not: I really like Jacquelline McInnes Wood. BUT: the pairing with Tanner Novlan is sooooo odd. She's acting all diva mode in every single scene they have shared since about mid-2021... Finn is always saying "Yes, mam" towards her and she keeps huffing and puffing, throwing around her busson and huge hair as if she were Brenda Dickson as they are sharing scenes. IMO; she needs to tone down the classic Hollywood diva mode because he is too weak an actor and the writing too weak on Finn to make them look like a couple. Interestingly enough, Thorsten Kaye and Don DIamont can totally elevate material with her.

EDIT: if I recall correctly (and it was a bad period on the show and I blanked out a lot by now) back in 2008 (?) when they paired Steffy and Marcus together, there was a similar situation. Even as an ingenue just starting on B&B she was BURNING Texas Battle to death and made him look like an amateur.

To be fair a first year acting student at AMDA could make Texas Battle look like an amateur.

I take it this is the early days of Linc Lafferty, who, once again, a new twenty-something male, falls for Lily. Meanwhile, this episode includes the end of Gail's palimony suit, in which Tonio gave evidence for Sean's defense. I cackled when Gail told Tonio that he was lousy in bed, and he proceeded to cut her off. I take this isn't long after Casey's death due to them mentioning the case involving Margo and Casey's parents while Lyla is still grieving. I also enjoyed Cal and Julie's picnic, although it comes out that Linc and Julie share a past in Seattle. He really seemed pissed that she had another kid with her first husband. 😂

Nonetheless, I didn't care about Duncan and Shannon finding the body of some woman. I'm sure this is another attempt at a Gothic mystery between the couple. I forgot to mention we got a temp Lisa recast with Jane Powell. And a bearded Mark Pinter returns as Brian McColl, who shares scenes with his ex-love and real-life wife at the time. At first, I didn't recognize Lien due to her being dressed a tad more glamorous than usual, as she was elated to see Duke home from Seattle.

I know 1990 was said to be an odd year for longtime viewers, but at this point, it seemed things were getting better in the long run. (I was two months old when this episode aired.)
