  1. I'm still back in summer '93... haven’t had time to watch much, but just finished 1615. What a perfect episode! Two major plots are at a critical juncture. I appreciate this all the more, reading the comments that the quality of the stories starts to decline not too long from now.

The tension is just exquisite at the hospital, with everyone singing Macy’s praises, while the viewer is just waiting for the news to drop that Macy was driving drunk…

The scene of Brooke and Connor informing Sheila that her assignment is to clear out Stephanie’s room made me LOL. They turned Sheila’s smile upside-down real quick.
Loved Sheila’s red power suit. This is a world away from Sheila’s cheap wardrobe on YR – back when she could care less about money and was solely focused on Dr. Scott Grainger.

Per the recaps available,   May 95 was a pretty busy month for Lauren. She seemed to be on quite a few days. I think she was mostly comic relief trying to help Paul "get it up".

Finally had a chance to watch - TEB's stiff wig really caught my notice! Not the most flattering... I feel like it aged her.  Lauren and Brad flirting feels pretty stale at this point.

The most intriguing scene is definitely Mari Jo scheming to make inroads with a skeptical Keemo. Now that's a story I'd like to see. (though DianaB is STILL pronouncing Jabot wrong, lol!)

Do you know why Victor and Hope's marriage is strained? Seems like they just got past the previous conflict of Victor Jr possibly inheriting Hope's blindness...

Vicki and Cole... Nina and Ryan... zzzzzzz

Your welcome! :D I actually think the date is 5/19/95, based on some of the May 95 recaps we have before.

it’s unfortunately the first two segments but it’s pretty typical 95 Y&R, haha Lauren is in it which is always nice to see!

so crazy to think that Lauren is still on YR at this point, and meanwhile on BnB Sheila is gearing up for her big finale of the suicide attempt on the Forrester steps.

I added some March and April 1995 from Cala Classics that someone sent me (thank you to this angel 👼 ) . I know we'll have it from videoland eventually, but they are good quality, no subtitles.

Thanks to the angel and also to you! Your work is so valuable and appreciated.

  5. Oh my gosh, I finally made it to 1612, and I was filled with dread the entire episode, as Macy and Kevin drove down the road in the fog… waiting for the car accident… it’s all very well done (blood dripping from Kevin’s forehead, gasp!) Macy’s behavior here is reprehensible and inexcusable. She had indeed hit rock bottom and I am here for her entire journey to true sobriety.

I also really appreciated seeing Sheila and Eric’s romantic evening in 1612… I needed to see their romantic marital connection re-established, knowing that within 2 months, things are so strained btw this couple that Sheila will feel compelled to return to Genoa City/Young and the Restless to check on Scott Grainger!

    • There's nothing I can say about JVA's performance in the mirror, etc. throughout this ep that I'm sure many haven't said over 40 years. It's amazing work, and I had to go back and watch her one-take, no-cuts transformation into "Verna Ellers" twice. This episode was written by longtime series scribe Richard Gollance again, who we know was enchanted with JVA and her ability and has said in his interview with Tommy Krasker that he'd often let her do whole scenes in 'reveries,' with silence and minimal to no dialogue.

I imagine you haven't seen the '93 "reunion special" that aired right before the series finale. In the special, JVA gets teary recalling filming the mirror scene, giving credit to the entire production team for collaborating to film that scene in one take (as JVA didn't think she had it in her for a second take)

  7. 1608 - Sheila at the Bikini bar?? What is happening?? How did the chocolate get into the peanut butter?? 🤣

Her appearance at Bikini was clearly plot-maneuvered... it's a stretch that she would go to a beach bar by herself to get a glass of champagne to celebrate her new job. But anyway, it puts her in Karen's orbit... I was a little surprised how blunt Karen was in her assessment of Sheila... clearly she is unaware of Sheila's history at the farmhouse! :)

1609 - a rare sweet moment btw Stephanie and Thorne... the scene was poignant with an exhausted Stephanie slumped on the Forrester home staircase.

Ridge went to read Sheila the riot act. But in the end, she completely turned the tables on him... love it!

Brooke and Connor making love in the limo was fun... but clearly, he is just a "space filler" until the eventual Bridge reunion.

Now I’m experimenting with downloading from the Vault on different devices and I’m running into some issues.

MacBook, using Safari browser - download with no problem

New iPad Air 5th gen - unable to download with either Safari or Chrome. On both, it starts to download but gets stuck at “zero percent download”.

    Any thoughts @ChickenNuggetz92 ?

Happy to report that with the new vault, I can download and view eps on my iPad with no problem. Hopefully everyone else is all set too.

    Hi everyone!

After a few hiccups here and there, I am happy to say the current iteration of the B&B Vault is now LIVE! I have updated the link on the first post but it's also available below:

    https://bit.ly/3N9cSkw

I'm deciding on one change however, and that is no longer offering the option to register users into the Vault. It's very time consuming for me to keep a contact list of people, and then transfer them over between locations when Vault locations need to be moved. Unless there is a really good reason to (such as taking the initiative to re-organize/rename files), it is not necessary as anybody can upload files as guests.

90% of issues around accessing the Vault can be resolved by ensuring you are using Incognito Mode (Chrome) or Private Browsing Mode (Safari).

Thank you all for your patience and may the uploading once again begin! Hopefully this is the last time I have to do this for a while haha.

Wow wow wow a million thanks! There's going to be some very happy people over on the vintage BnB thread :) Seriously, we really appreciate it.

  10. Did the show ever say why Val's first novel was titled "Capricorn Crude"? Or anyone have a guess? I know crude is probably a reference to oil, but I have no idea where Capricorn fits in.

Side-note: A KL writer was asked in SOD what storyline he felt wasn't written well, and he said "Val's writing career". It was just one of those 20-word blurb Q&As, so he didn't elaborate, and I really want to know more on why he said that.

  11. 1606 was sooooo delicious! I was thinking, why are they throwing Thorne into the Belief mix all the sudden, and where is Sheila, when she has been demanding to be a part of all these meetings? And then Sheila appears in only the final minute, to be revealed as the new executive liaison!

Plus all the Spectra gang at Bikini (including Saul in Hawaiian wear, lol!) and the reveal that Macy is still drinking... it’s all so good!

Thank you both, I greatly appreciate it! Could you two (or anyone else that may know) tell me what the episode numbers are for the following?

-1990: Caroline’s Leukemia storyline (from diagnosis to death)

-1991: the episodes involving Stephanie’s car accident and when she gets attacked by the pack of homeless people and Ruth comes to her rescue

-1992: Sheila’s “fantasy” episodes where Lauren comes to LA and she reveals herself to Lauren and Lauren ends up exposing her at a fashion show where Sheila is the showstopper

-1993: Lauren’s first “real” appearance where she and Sheila have a confrontation after Lauren tells Eric she wants to meet the new wife, and the dinner party afterwards where Lauren tells the Forresters she and Sheila knew each other before

-1993: The episodes involving Sheila and Eric’s wedding (all episodes involving Lauren and/or Sheila)

-1993: The Sheila/Eric/Lauren/Scott Catalina Island Trip episodes

-1994: Taylor and James trapped at Big Bear in the snowstorm

-1994: Taylor‘s “death” (from when she leaves on the flight to the funeral)

I haven’t kept track of this thread much over time, and I would really appreciate it if someone could help me out. 😁

Oh gosh – I’ve watched most of the Sheila stuff but I don’t remember the ep numbers, sorry 😕 I do remember the general timeframe for some of them. Maybe someone else can jump in with ep numbers?

-1992: Sheila’s “fantasy” episodes where Lauren comes to LA and she reveals herself to Lauren and Lauren ends up exposing her at a fashion show where Sheila is the showstopper: second half of Sept ‘92
-1993: Lauren’s first “real” appearance where she and Sheila have a confrontation after Lauren tells Eric she wants to meet the new wife, and the dinner party afterwards where Lauren tells the Forresters she and Sheila knew each other before: March ‘93
-1993: The episodes involving Sheila and Eric’s wedding (all episodes involving Lauren and/or Sheila): early May ‘93
-1993: The Sheila/Eric/Lauren/Scott Catalina Island Trip episodes: This is approx. eps #1660-1675, end of Oct ’93 through mid-Nov ‘93
-1994: Taylor and James trapped at Big Bear in the snowstorm – I think first week of March ’94?
-1994: Taylor‘s “death” (from when she leaves on the flight to the funeral)these eps have not been posted to the Vault yet, so we don't have any details. They have aired on Videoland, so hopefully our anonymous angel has already recorded these eps and is just waiting for the “new Vault” to be available to upload them.

Was there a scene from around 1993 where Cole asked Nikki if Victor was gay? Nikki was drinking lemonade and spat it out.

Haha I remember that! Prob April or May '93 (before Victor "died" and went to Kansas). Cole wondered if Victor was gay because Cole didn't understand why Victor was being so solicitous.

  13. I went down a random Love Boat rabbit hole and skimmed through the ’78 2-part Season 2 premiere, guest-starring our beloved Donna Mills!

    https://youtu.be/c8nIPQ1WxgY

    https://youtu.be/jdtbu3DFRuM

Donna has described how she spent the entirety of the 70s stuck in “damsel-in-distress” role and this is a perfect example. I won’t spoil the plot except to say that she falls in love with a handsome stranger, played by David Birney (eeek, this is the actor later revealed to be abusing his wife Meredith Baxter Birney). Donna's character and story is very serious and woe-is-me.

The whole time I’m watching this, I’m seeing her intelligence and talent shining through, and I’m thinking, she deserves much better than this.

I can only imagine how landing the role of Abby must have been salvation for Donna!

Having watched all aired nearly 1800 episodes so far... I would say the best from the show in its intire history is between 1350 and 1650. These 300 episodes are binge worthy. So much quality storytelling.

Curious why do you stop at 1650? Do you not prefer Catalina? I think Catalina is around 1660-1675?

  15. We love your detailed observations, Vee! Definitely not spam in my book. It's been a good number of years since I viewed all the seasons, so you're bringing back a flood of great memories.

I'm pretty sure James Westmont is never seen or heard of again. That is strange, as Abby seemed to thrive on his business support and acumen.

Wendel Meldrum is forever beloved as Kevin's teacher on The Wonder Years (though that's all tainted now, after the Fred Savage revelations... ugh). I just googled her and she was also the Seinfeld "Low-Talker"... love it! She passed away last year 😕 RIP

I'm curious for your take mid-season on Joshua... my recollection is that his "turn to the dark side" is very abrupt... not that well-developed... before they go full barrel with Dark Joshua.

One thing to keep in mind as the season progresses is that the writers had to do a major shift. The original plan was for Verna Ellers to remain away from home for longer. But... I remember in SOD, a KL producer was asked "do you ever take fan feedback into account when crafting stories?" and the answer was something like  "yes. We ended the Verna Ellers story sooner than intended, because we got so much negative feedback".

And then the season was expanded from the previous 25 to the super-sized 30 eps for the first time!

So the show had 5 extra eps of story to create, and Val home sooner than expected. Maybe that's why they had to accelerate Joshua's story.

  16. It could be a like button but no dislike button. That would keep the vibes positive.

I’d be sooo excited to have a like button. Often times I want to agree with, support or thank someone for a post, but it doesn’t feel worthy of a reply post for me to simply say “I agree” or “thanks”. A like button is a simpler cleaner way to express appreciation for a post.
