    new 1990 upload on archive! :D  6/11/90

    https://archive.org/details/yand-r-22-11-93

Great find, thanks!! And a Sheila ep, no less. Wow, that is a significant new detail that Sheila was going to follow Scott to Boston! If only Scott hadn’t gotten her job back, he could have saved himself years of drama.

Incredible Nathan and Dru scenes. Always love the Circle of Fear “horn of death”, haha

Fun to see David laying on the charm with Nina. How I THRILL to see new sets like that park! We are so starved in 2023 for any sets that require a budget.

Ugh, hate seeing Peter B’s Jack making inroads with Nikki.

Nikki and Victor are always the WORST in hospital settings, haha. Nikki is always overly emotional to the point of hysteria, and Victor is always over-demanding and not respectful of a doctor’s experience.

My biggest wish for future June ‘90 eps that hopefully surface someday, is the follow-up to Gina’s suicide attempt.  Patty Weaver just did an interview where she talked about Gina going crazy when visiting Clint in jail, and jumping over the partition separating them! Sounds amazing

  2. Ep 9 “Dark Journey” was the worst yet! Vickie runs away from home and into the clutches of a pornographer. God help me get through these “self-contained episodes”. I was thrilled when Michael Zaslow made his appearance as the villain - he saved the ep.

Bill Bell wrote three real-life pregnancies into Y&R storylines: MTS twice and TB.

Also I think when Lynn Topping was pregnant in ‘80 - Chris Brooks gave birth to baby Jennifer

btw some bit of trivia, that’s actually TEBs real son Austin playing Scotty in those scenes! :D

    I didn't realize that - so sweet!

So the big outstanding question is (and Lauren even notes this to Paul and Lynn) - what made Sheila snap and kidnap Lauren...? Because Lauren had zero clue what the truth was until Sheila spelled it out for her at the farmhouse.

The only thing I can think of is - Sheila thought it was inevitable that Lauren would learn about the birthmark removal and put two and two together.

We'll only know for sure if the eps leading up to May 4 ever appear 🙏

Your welcome! :D Yeah I was confused too, and of course I got a little overly excited that we had a couple more "full" May 92 episodes, but I'm still happy about the clips.

Man If anything, they really did make Sheila out to be the "victim" of this whole thing. Everyone talking non stop about how much Sheila loved Scotty, and how she was the "only mother" he's known.....So disturbing...I couldn't believe it when Scott said he didn't realize Sheila had this "dark side" to her....um Hello?!.....You already witnessed her dark side several months before with her constant paranoia, her threats to take away Scotty, and of course drugging you....That was a load of B.S to me...

Doris, Naomi and Ruth are definitely #teamSheila! :D Ruth didn't seem phased about what Sheila did...she either doesn't have many friends, or just thinks Lauren drove Sheila to madness (which is true in a way..LOL.)  It confused me also that Scott didn't actually reveal to Ruth what Sheila did, yet the minister basically explains it during the funeral...yet she doesn't react? :D

Yeah I was kind of annoyed about John Silva not being there too, or even Olivia? Danny and Cricket should have been there, but I already knew they weren't because someone on Usenet mentioned that Cricket not being there for her brother was "odd" LOL

Wow, I started watching those May/June 1988 Danny/Cricket clips. Rare that they actually had a Carnival set! :) I remember hearing about Cricket Selling Kisses, but I thought that was during Danny's Concert.

There was definitely some strange things with the tone of these follow-up scenes after Sheila's "death". Scott was whitewashing their history but I guess you could argue it was the shock of it all. Still, I'm surprised that Scott didn't have more of a sense of relief. For the 6 months prior, Sheila was the sword hanging over Scott's head.

I guess with Ruth, since she's such a disposable character, the writers felt like it wasn't necessary to recap to her what happened once again, after Lauren has already recapped it to Paul and Lynn, and then to Scott. (I loved the flashbacks were incorporated into Lauren's memories)

What was super-weird was how the priest recapped everything during the memorial?? Based on everything Scott had told him? It didn't feel necessary for the priest to get so specific, lol... and not appropriate for a memorial.

  7. Ah, that makes sense... pretty much every ep so far ends with a return to the status quo, and the Giobertis still strangely friendly with Angela and crew, despite some nasty event having occurred.

It’s in the regular 1990s page, not the one with the 1990s 1 on it. ;)

Found it, thanks! Took some digging :) I thought it was under clips instead of full episodes.

Thank you anonymous angel!! I never hoped to see these May '92 scenes, and they did not disappoint. It felt like a dream to watch them. So precious.

And even Sheila's memorial! What a treat to see a final appearance of the beloved Naomi and Doris (Doris, who thinks Lauren is afflicted by the devil 🤣❤️) Inconceivable that Scott did not have Cricket and Danny attend the memorial.

Early 1986 German episodes are also being uploaded and there's another guest contributor/angel posting clips of Cricket & Danny in the 80s and 90s clips. :D Great to have new stuff!

Wow wow wow, so much goodness! Danny's June '88 "Concert for the Homeless"!! Always wanted to see it but never thought I would! (Looks like Nikki did not wind up attending even though she did the PR for the concert) plus scenes from Jessica's first bout with AIDS - so rare and special.

Thanks for the tip BoldRestless and Thank You Anonymous Angel!!

Haha I am!! :D I just watched the 5/19 and the 5/22 clips. That’s the date Lauren is reunited with Scotty and it’s a beautiful scene! :D

Why am I not seeing those? I'm looking under Clips > 1992 > and the file names jump from 5/04 to 5/28

Thank you, to whoever uploaded those! Very rare scenes. Lauren reuniting with her baby!

    This is so exciting!

Which clip has Lauren and her baby reuniting? I can't tell from the clip titles.

    @YRfan23 will be especially excited!!

Chao Li got added to the opening credits starting in season 6. But the size of his part remained the same.

sigh... oh well, thanks... at least he hopefully made a higher salary after making the opening credits.

If you're on episode 5, you've got another 15 episodes until you see that scene.

Just finished ep 8. After the stage-setting and world-building of eps 1-4... eps 5-7 were a slog to make it through!

The problem is too few characters and too little story per episode.

I was excited for the return of Tony Cumson, as well as the return of Turner Bates... but the plots of both eps were so stretched out over 44 minutes that all the tension drained away.

Maggie's false alarm pregnancy felt tired and not worthy of a B story.

Episode 8 "Lord of the Manor" - what a very welcome vast improvement! 3 different plots of equal interest:

1- Lance very confidently trying to scam the wine distributor and slowly realizing that he's in way over his head was very fun to watch. And what a difference a budget makes. The scenes with the machinery corking the wine bottles, and the forklift moving the wine boxes, make Falcon Crest feel REAL (I think I'm scarred by 2023's threadbare daytime soaps budgets)

Key quote from Lance: "I'm living in a madhouse"

2- Angela is vulnerable (and quite charming) for the first time - both in her insecurity while awaiting the results of the wine competition, and dealing with her ex-husband's renewed romantic interest.

Key quote from Angela: "I haven't built my empire yet"

3- Cole is at his cutest - connecting with his Tuscany, Italy relatives and trying to get by with his basic Italian

The ep seems to end on a happy note but suddenly shifts to an unsettling note, as the Giobertis learn that Angela and Jason were bitter enemies.

I'm definitely encouraged to continue on with my viewing. Can't wait to make it to Ana-Alicia's debut. Sounds like the show will fully kick into gear around then.

  12. Can anyone remind me… did Chao-Li have a greater presence/his own stories in the later seasons?

I do remember Rosalind Chao as his daughter appearing briefly in season 5.

Wait until you reach season 2. There's a great scene early in that season that for me sets everything in motion for the rest of the series. After seeing that scene I was like "I am totally down for this."

    Oooh I’m intrigued!

Yay! I agree - there's a lot of world building in those first 13 episodes, though I will say there's also the annoying thing where they'll blatantly forget the happenings of the previous episodes, most notably...

      Hide contents

Chase and family finds out in one episode that Angela has been messing with them - the start of the next episode they're attending a party.

Agreed, and it happens again in 1.06 when

    Spoiler

Chase and Cole happily join Lance on a camping expedition trip, two episodes after Lance temporarily steals away the Gioberti’s farming crew, and after Lance frames Cole for crashing into the local bar.

  14. I’ve watched the first 4 episodes of Falcon Crest! What a treat. I started watching the show real time as a teen with season 5, and apparently completely missed the peak years. My first FC memory is Angela referring to Apollonia as Babylonia.

I considered jumping past the original batch of eps, but I’m so glad I started from the beginning. There’s a lot of excellent world-building. How exquisite to see every moment from the Giobertis meeting Angela, and the slow inevitable breakdown between the families. A favorite moment was Angela giving Cole a history lesson on the Giobertis clan. Very soon I imagine Angela will never speak to the Giobertis whatsoever!

Susan Sullivan is simply indispensable. Her warm presence grounds the show.

Julia as played by Abby Dalton is so strange. The character feels awkward somehow. It’s clear that her life was interrupted by Angela and she’s not a full or well person.

Emma floating around the rafters of the house like a character from a Tennessee Williams play is <chef’s kiss>

So strange to hear Angela referred to as “Angie”

William R Moses… what a dopey rootable dreamboat.

Lorenzo Lamas… as an actor - he’s a redwood tree. I see from the comments he will slowly ease into his role.

Jamie Rose as Victoria is giving me Diana on Knots vibes <annoying daughter who has to eventually be written off the show>

  15. Picking up my '93 viewing after a few months away...1623

I had to lol when Brooke "presented" Sheila with her "new office". Sheila looks physically ill and says "what is all this... machinery?"🤣 eg a computer, fax machine, copier, and filing cabinets with storage boxes piled atop.

Brooke is the world's worst boss to think that Sheila would be happy with that office. And she never even responds when Sheila says "I barely know how to type". Brooke doesn't think this is a problem...?

I was quite disappointed that we don't see Macy's first AA meeting but instead hear about it after the fact 😕

Ridge is an emotionally stunted baby for punching Connor. That was a sucker punch and Connor should have pressed charges. Taylor should have concerns about having a baby with someone who has such a hair-trigger temper.

That's a shame 😕 I mean they showed her during the Covid repeats, so she shouldn't be excluded.

Yep... Brenda Dickson... AND Deborah Adair! It was Deborah's Jill who had the initial romance and marriage with John Abbott. Deborah's Jill was there when Madame Mergeron revealed herself as Dina, and when Jack was shot.  Very foundational stuff for the character of Jill.

EileenD mis-speaks when she says Ashley had the first abortion on daytime TV... Erica Kane had the first, in the 70s

  17. Finally had time to watch 3/24. Wow - Barbara Crampton and Veronica Redd saved the episode! Without their energy, it would have been a zero.  Michelle S with her heavy red lipstick was a ghoul!

When is the last time we saw Tonya Lee Williams' Olivia? I felt her absence here. She should have arrived with Mamie. Nate feels very adrift from Lily and Devon and Olivia could have tied the family together, and made us feel even more the loss of Neil.
