  1. Ahhh ok - that's great to know, thank you!
  2. This show has a ton of EPs and producers - is that normal for soaps?
  3. Ahh yes, very familiar with the awful Brian Frons.
  4. Oh wait, who is the producer here? For some reason I was thinking it was JHC.
  5. LOL - after all these years, I'm starting to think the real soap opera might have been the behind the scenes: PRODUCER: One of the things that still frustrated me in this genre is the inability to evolve in terms of staff, and people and writers. For example: I think some of GH’s darkest hours were the Megan McTavish years, and I think some of GL’s were the Megan McTavish years, and I think some of AMC darkest hours were the Megan McTavish years. Then I read somewhere that Brian Frons was courting Megan McTavish to come back, and I thought, really?
  6. I stumbled across a YT channel that has full episodes of GL from 1996 (wow, they make that easy!). I just happened to watch January 2, 1996 randomly, just to get a sense of what was going on, and I enjoyed it! I can't believe I was sleeping on GL back in the day. This was the masquerade-style New Year's ball and Brent was lurking around in this long-nosed creepy costume/mask. Although in looking at the dates of Beaty's time on GL, it looks like maybe I should go back to 1995, as the character exits in Feb 1996. Seems like maybe Marion was mostly in 1995. But wow did GL have some handsome men back in the day! Alan-Michael (although I always knew Ric Hearst was)... Josh (Robert Newman)... Frank the cop... Beaty... Oh and some of my AMC favorites are on here - Vincent I and Marj Dusay! Marj had a small scene, but she was giving me Vanessa vibes haha.
  7. I just finished reading the whole thing tonight and was JUST coming on here to mention this haha. I can't imagine JHC inserting Cady into BTG if she truly felt that way about her back in the day. I know time heals and a gig is a gig these days.... oh but wait, I just googled the date when Dixie died of pancakes and it was 2007. Her returns to AMC after that were still while JHC was EP, so she had to have been fine with Cady even then in 2010-2013. I'd LOVE to know where Megan is these days too. I wonder if she's done any interviews in the last 5-10 years about soaps/AMC, etc.
  8. Ahh interesting - so there was closure for Beaty. I'm happy to hear that.
  9. Yes! I was able to find this one online. He was a great actor too. Handsome to boot haha. Megan McT mentioned that he was bipolar and had a break as they were filming his big reveal scene, and likely would have been written to stay. Was that true or is she exaggerating? How did that play out - if wasn't able to return to set, how did they end up writing him out and finish the storyline on such short notice?
  10. LOL - I'm glad you said this, because I thought the same thing. Being in corporate America, I couldn't help but think I was watching my annual ethics/workplace harassment training WBL again. That being said, I still don't mind Naomi yet.
  11. Thank you for linking that!!! Thank you too! It's weird because the video wouldn't play in the original post, but when I started to quote it, the video came up in the reply so I could watch it. Thank you both! Jerry is a great actor for sure.
  12. Thank you all for the info and your thoughts - very interesting indeed! I'm curious - I looked at the Daytime Emmy award winners/noms from that year when Frank was nominated for Best Supporting, and the winner was actually Jerry (Ross). Was Ross part of the same storyline or a different storyline? And if different, was that just an example of amazing performance in a crappy or boring storyline? Or was the timing off there?
  13. Making my way through the McTavish book and curious... was this ever published? I know it's a draft and you can see her notes on certain pages, but did this ever get finalized and published? Apologies if I missed the backstory on this one, but I'm really intrigued now by it. I'm also curious if any of these folks commented on it publicly, as she basically says F it to her career by throwing all these daytime execs, writers and actors under the bus.
  14. Coming over here from the AMC thread as I see the McTavish book is being discussed, and I have to ask GL fans: Was the Brent/Marion storyline well-received by GL fans? Did critics like it? I saw the actor was nominated for an Emmy. I read about it in her book, and I was intrigued so I then did some quick YouTube searches for videos to see how it played out and it looked extremely interesting and ahead of its time in the 90s (kind of). I would have totally watched that live if I knew about it, but for some reason it was never on my radar back then
  15. Oh my gosh, you're right - I totally forgot about him. I just googled him and remember - but sorry, I think Scott is even more attractive than Colin! LOL Do we know why he was recast? LOL fine - I expect you to watch on April 21 I'm on Chapter 5 of this book and have so many thoughts - she is unhinged! I'm going to bed and will read the rest this week, but wow I hope some of these things she's claiming are not true. Not AMC, but that GL storyline of Brent/Marian sounds interesting and juicy - so I spent 5 minutes googling it and I'm surprised I don't remember this. Usually those storylines, when I was a kid, would have gotten me hooked ASAP. Also wild that the Lucas Barnes actor was in that plane crash and one of the few survivors. I remember really enjoying the Terrence storyline from that era.
  16. DO IT... LOL - I have the same vivid memory as you when I was a child watching that haha. It was clearly impactful. A few thoughts: I too wonder what happened to Teresa Blake (Gloria). I just googled and sadly it looks like AMC was the last thing she ever did and her wiki page has nothing beyond her divorce from 1998. I hope she's thriving out there somewhere. Gloria became (didn't start out as) one of my favorite characters from the 90s. I totally forgot that Carlos came in because of that reality star contest. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the winner of that contest was the guy that played the recast Del Henry, who just sadly passed away like last year or earlier this year. Maybe they had multiple contests? I'm just starting that McTavish book you all linked and WOW. I'm just starting, but I can't believe she called Colin Egglesfield unattractive and untalented. Was he the best actor? No, but he was really great on the eyes. Is she blind?? Haha.
  17. I for one enjoy reading your thoughts - so keep them up! I'm excited for your first-time viewing. Also - you're about to get into 1991-1992 which is one of my favorite eras of AMC! Curious your thoughts when you get to it
  18. Ok Dani is an alcoholic haha. She reaches for the bottle after every interaction with people haha. And she just blacked out, passed out and woke up... now she's pouring whiskey and grabbing for another bottle of something else haha.
  19. How old are Ashley and Derek supposed to be? If she's a new nurse, are we thinking just out of college - like mid-20s? If so, Derek having roommates in a big city isn't strange or a red flag. Especially as a fireman... he's used to being around guys already at work like a frat house, and they aren't highly paid as entry-level firemen.
  20. LOL - so true. How do you black out, pass out and then wake up and be totally sober while Bill/Hayley are still in their limo drive home 🤣
  21. Is Cady introducing a new accent today? Haha - I do remember reading that she planned to channel Opal (AMC) in her role here, as Erica Kane's sidekick...
  22. Nicole is now 16/16 episodes! I think the Ben actor just needs to chill out - he bugs his eyes out in surprise with everything and it comes across really stiff.
  23. Ohh now that would have been fun to watch - a Greg/Dixie pairing! While I missed Tad so much during this time, I remember really being secretly in love with the Dixie/Craig pairing. I know he was a bad guy, but they were really hot together I thought. I'll never forget this scene and thinking wow, this Michael Bolton song just put me on another level! Hahaha https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9UD_NvcKn8 https://youtu.be/Z9UD_NvcKn8?si=pw38_lIE5shocZKt ETA: Well, I clearly don't know how to embed YT videos here haha - but hopefully the link works for those interested!
  24. Ohhh - wow, you're right - if all that happened together, then it was horrible. I remember each of those names and storylines, but didn't remember they all happened at the same time. That truly was a weird period of AMC. Thanks for all the details there!
  25. This bolded part - what storylines were going on during their short era/what years were these? I watched during that time, but can't recall which ones they did that were so ridiculous.
