I was happy that Martin told Smitty the truth about Samantha seeing June, and they didn't spread that out for a long period of time. I'm team Smitty on this one, so far. Also good to see Derek's friends actually checking on him. Overall, still a bit bored since Chelsea's kidnapping storyline.

Guiding Light Discussion Thread
I’m up to February 06, 1998. Annie and Alan’s wedding day begins and Annie starts it by cornering Josh and taunting him that she’ll be happier than ever. She forces him into a kiss, which he backs out of and they cryptically wish each other for whatever things that happen, to come to them soon. Dinah is able to steal the piece of paper out of Reva’s purse that has the big secret she has on Annie, so now Dinah knows. Just as the wedding is about to start, Cassie realizes Dinah has the paper and pleads with her to give it back, but Dinah ends up lighting it on fire. During the ceremony, Dinah/Cassie argue in a back room and Dinah vows to support Annie and stop the righteous Lewis family. Just as she tries to leave, Cassie grabs her arm and punches her!!! She then gags and ties her up so she can’t stop them from revealing the secret. Dinah deserved that haha. Since the paper is gone, their only chance is to have Eddie Banks show up with the truth, so they’re desperately trying to reach him. Harley is able to delay the wedding by stealing the rings, but Phillip gets agitated and gets them back. Annie/Alan say their vows, exchange rings, and just before they’re pronounced husband and wife, Eddie Banks storms through the door. Reva escorts him in and announces Alan/Annie can’t get married because Annie is married to Eddie! Annie starts denying it, but Eddie shows the marriage license. She continues denying it and pleads with Alan not to believe him. Eddie tells everyone about how she was presumed dead and he spent time in jail for her. Alan calmly apologizes to the guests and dismisses them. Annie tells Reva she will never win and she will beat her, as Alan escorts her away. Alan then dresses Annie down in private, says he despises her and walks out. Phillip sees Harley/Reva/Josh celebrating and gets upset with Harley for using him to stall the wedding. Harley said she didn’t think he’d mind, but Phillip angrily says that was his father and you can’t humiliate them like that. Beth overhears them arguing about it all. Later, they apologize to each other and we’re back to normal with these two. Frank announces to Reva/Josh that Eddie’s claims are all checked out and true and Annie will go away for a long time on drug charges, fraud and bigamy. Wow! Frank then cuffs Annie and walks her through the crowd with cameras rolling and snapping; like a complete walk of shame. Annie is very stoic and calmly tells the audience at the top of the stairs “Thank you all for coming”, and walks out. Watros really nailed these scenes and I can see why she won the Emmy with this episode. Later, Eddie visits Annie in jail and she tries to con him by pretending to be in love with him again, trying to convince him they can have it all together. Eddie, who seems very gullible and still actually in love with her, almost seems to believe her, but Reva drops in and stops it. Eddie leaves and Reva taunts Annie quite a bit, leaving Annie to tell her that she’ll get out of jail one way or the other. Later, Alan visits Annie and tells her he’s been given a subpoena to testify in her extradition case (to Ohio). He also tells her in the fine print of the contract she signed are conditions that she violated and now all of her Spaulding stock is his and she’s left with nothing. Simply Annie (perfume line) is also dead and Alan has instructed Michael to destroy everything he’s created. He leaves while she screams that she hates him and he’s lousy in bed LOL. She then tries seducing a young, nervous officer and ends up kissing him. She later has her extradition hearing and Griffin, who is judge, ruled that the state of Ohio must take her and Reva/Josh celebrate the win. Annie then seduces the young police officer again and ends up knocking him out, stealing his keys and escaping jail! She goes to Ben Warren for help and money, and they agree to work together. Annie then goes to Reva’s house in a police uniform and attacks Reva. Marah sees it and scream for help, Annie runs off and tells Reva she’ll be back to get her. Later, Reva convinces Cassie/Hart to go on their trip to Puerto Rico, she has the kids sent to stay with Rusty, and she gets out her gun and says she’ll be ready for Annie the next time she comes back! Holly and Fletcher argue throughout the wedding about moving Meg and family to Toronto. She then strangely confides in Roger about their argument, in front of Fletcher, to which Roger is confused why she would tell him this information, and then she walks off (uhh Holly, still have feelings?). Later, Roger tells her she’s his touchstone, most significant thing ever in his life. Fletcher then admits to Holly that part of the reason he wants to move away is to get away from Roger so they can focus on their family without his interference. Amanda tells Alan she wants nothing to do with Annie and her new perfume line. She wants to take over Spaulding West and move back to the west coast. Roger doesn’t take the news well, but Amanda promises to give half of Spaulding West to Roger when they get married. Rick visits Michelle and she tells him she and Jesse have the WSPR tape and hid it at the lighthouse. Meanwhile, Jesse has thrown it away in the trash which Drew then takes out to the dumpster, but Shayne takes it out of the trash and brings it home with him. Abby is babysitting the kids and Shayne wants to record his cartoons over the tape. He starts playing the tape with the court room footage, but they get interrupted and don’t pay attention and the tape gets back into a pile of VHS tapes. Shayne ends up telling Ben about the tape, while Ross/Abby/Jesse realize Shayne probably has it from the trash, so it’s a race to get to the tape first. Ben ends up getting it first by paying a man to steal it from the Lewis house. Matt sees Ross about his legal ability to force Vanessa into an early C-section. Ross says one way he could do that is by declaring her mentally incompetent. Meanwhile, Vanessa tearfully confides in Jenna, who at first sides with Matt, but then says she’s going to support Vanessa in anything she wants to do. Matt later tells Vanessa he met with Ross and what he intends to do if she won’t have the C-section and she flips out and says if he goes through with it, it’ll be the worst mistake of his life. OMG - Ross/Blake/Holly are chatting at home about Meg and Vanessa storms in, and without a word, slaps Ross LOL! Vanessa tells Blake/Holly about Matt’s lawsuit and they’re upset with Ross about it. Vanessa then falls in pain because her disease is coming back and they rush her to the hospital. Rick then tells Vanessa she’s in labor! She needs a blood transfusion and Holly has the right blood type, so she volunteers. Baby Maureen is then born! Sadly, she’s experiencing signs of kidney malfunction, which they want to keep from Vanessa. But, Matt tells Vanessa he wasn’t really going through with the lawsuit, she believes him and they make up. Vanessa keeps fainting at the hospital and she goes into cardiac arrest and then slips into a coma. Bill (finally!) shows up to the hospital. Oh no, Vanessa sees the white light and says she’s dying. She then sees Maureen in the white light and they hug, effectively making the viewer think Vanessa is dead and in heaven (Friday cliffhanger!). But surely Vanessa doesn’t really die, right? Can’t be. While at the hospital, Roger tells Holly that he’s moving to California, and if she moves to Canada, they’ll probably never see each other again. Dinah goes to the farm to take some of her stuff out and catches Cassie/Hart making out together in the barn. Lots of Dinah whining and screaming and Hart/Cassie sticking together. Dinah then calls her lawyer and asks her to look into a man named Rob Layne (Cassie’s ex husband and father of Tammy). Meanwhile, Tammy confides in Cassie that she really likes Hart, but misses her real dad. Beth tries seducing Phillip yet again, by getting into her lingerie and asking them to get back together. Phillip says they’re never getting back together and she cries, runs out of the mansion past Harley, and gets hit by a car! Phillip is distraught thinking she is dead, but she wakes up and he apologizes to her. At the hospital, Beth tells Lillian what happens and Lillian thinks she could have gotten out of the way of the car and may be suicidal over Phillip not wanting her back.

Y&R/B&B/GL Vault Updates
For the GL fans: -The Feb 10, 1998 episode doesn't work (it looks corrupted) -The March 3, 1998 episode is mislabeled as March 6; which means March 3 is really March 4, March 4 is really March 5, and March 5 is really March 6. Hope that makes sense, but those 4 episodes just need to be renamed so they're in order. Thanks again for all you do!

LOL - that clone seems pretty weak! So Michael just explained to Josh how it will all work. It’ll be an exact physical copy, but she won’t have Reva’s life experiences. Ok, my question - how can you guarantee this clone will love Josh, and how would she have any memories of Reva’s, like if someone were to ask questions or bring up stories, could she contribute? Seems like it would be a dead giveaway to everyone...

Y'all, I'm now to the beginning of the Reva clone storyline. 🤣 I'm sure my thoughts will be all over the place as it goes along, but it's definitely 1) interesting/different, but 2) getting into DAYS territory and seems like a real stretch LOL. I didn't realize it was a spawn of Annie (Watros') exit storyline though - that part is interesting. I'm very curious to see how Reva survives this plane crash though LOL.

Yep - exactly right, good memory! I just watched all of this and thought it was so odd how quickly things got scrapped and you could tell they didn't know what to do with Drew or her dad. It seems like Marcus/Dahlia finally got a storyline again after being MIA for several months/almost a year, but then that storyline abruptly dropped just as Drew joined it, Drew was then 'cut off' for being spoiled, got hired at Company by J. She was a horrible waitress, but then J left and that waitress/Company story stalled. Now I'm just seeing her getting with Jesse. But it was so odd seeing her name in the end credits as a contract player and she was only on ~15 episodes over her first 3-4 months with the show.

It's funny and TT is doing a great job, you can tell she's loving it. But the reason behind it... the idea of them actually getting married, is dumb to me.

What in the fresh hell is this Vegas stuff? Is that supposed to be a drag impersonator for Anita? Are they really serious about them getting married? This is silly.

You're welcome! And you're so right, I've noticed over the past several months how much storyline they churn through. I'm having to take many more notes as I watch (which I love). I don't mind the pace as long as the storylines work and I'm entertained, which I have been. Yeah they dropped J so quickly out of nowhere, and he didn't even really get a storyline with Drew. I think they had 1-2 episodes where he hired her at Company and she was doing an awful job, but they never really hinted at any romance or storyline between the two of them. In fact, Drew is barely used in her first 3-4 months at GL. They seemed to drop the Sugar Hill storyline so quickly, which is what brought her into the show. My only guess is Taye Diggs couldn't keep up with the daytime schedule, because he flubbed lines pretty often. Jesse's father actually got a recast just before Abby's trial where she kills Roy. I had wondered why they did that, but I guess maybe the original actor's schedule picked up. I hate to admit this, but I've actually warmed up to Ben a little. He's dreadful when he's in court or making decisions to bring Ross down, but he shines when he's flirting with women (Beth/Blake). It's strangely sexy to me... we'll see how long that lasts haha. I hated Reva's house too. To your point, it wasn't warm or comfortable looking. I'm excited to see how Watros goes out and where the Annie story continues, since I know she gets a recast. Yeah they really used Watros a ton in these last few months. Dinah has really annoyed the crap out of me since she and Hart broke up. She's lashing out again like she used to in 1995 and it's so off-putting to me. I love Wendy, and she does a great job with the Dinah character, but man she's so mean and entitled sometimes.

Guiding Light Discussion Thread
I’m up to January 21, 1998. For the month of January, the opening now has a voiceover congratulating GL for being named the best soap opera of 1997 by TVGuide and Soap Opera Digest - haha, way to go! Ironically, they weren’t even nominated for best soap in the Daytime Emmys that year (which AMC won over DAYS, GH and Y&R). I’d be curious now to read the reviews by TVG and SOD. Whelp, I guess that’s the last we’ll see of J. He is no longer in the ending credits as a contract player, so I guess his scenes with Nola were the last, sadly. Out with an unceremonious whimper. Harley sets up a romantic night with Phillip in NYC for New Year’s Eve, mailing him a plane ticket to meet her. Annie intercepts and never gives Phillip the ticket, and when Harley calls the mansion, Annie tells her that Phillip is spending the night with Beth instead. Meanwhile, Annie has locked Phillip and Beth in the attic. Beth is pouring her heart out to Phillip and tells him she’s still in love with him and wants him back. He gets angry because she threw away their marriage over the last couple years with no good reason and he finds it hard to accept she’s changed her mind out of the blue. He says he now loves Harley and that won’t change. He then realizes Harley is in NYC and takes an axe to the door to unlock them from the attic. He makes it to NYC the next morning on New Year’s Day and reunites with Harley, but she’s upset and they talk through all the details. Once she hears that Beth plans to stay in SF, she says she’s getting off the rollercoaster and no longer able to be with Phillip, and walks out. On the other hand, Beth was supposed to have a date with Ben on New Year’s Eve, but stood him up because of the attic situation. He comes over the next morning and isn’t happy, but she apologizes and he explains to her his entire backstory, eventually saying he has a very cold exterior but even more cold interior. She seems to think she can warm him up a bit. Michelle and Jesse finally make love for the first time at the lighthouse, which was very sweet, but an interesting choice to have her be blind during her first time. While he’s sleeping, she whispers to him that she’ll always love him and then leaves. Dahlia takes her to the blind school and makes Dahlia promise that she won’t tell Jesse that she’s there and blind. Jesse wakes up the next morning and reads the note Michelle left him and is sad. Michelle struggles in school, but her blind mentor helps her. She calls Dahlia one night and Jesse takes the phone from Dahlia and hears her voice, but she hangs up. Jesse is upset and tries to get the truth out of Dahlia, but she won’t say anything. Jesse heads to a bar and finds his dad, who miraculously says he’s forgiven Jesse and the Bauer’s and won’t go after them anymore. Meanwhile, Ed visits Michelle and apologizes to her for thinking she had to elope because he wasn’t supportive of her relationship with Jesse. Ok new interesting story developing - Annie’s new business at Spaulding, called Simply Annie, is now operating with Michael as the lead chemist/researcher. Alan/Annie visit him and he has a random cat that he’s taking care of. Ultimately he’s testing new perfumes for Annie to sell, but asks Alan/Annie to call ahead if they plan to visit again which Alan didn’t really like. Later, while alone, he tells the cat that no one can find out what they’re really doing. WHAT? Later, Vanessa visits him and she’s surprised how top-secret secure the place is just for perfume. Michael acts surprised that she was able to get inside easily. Michael then tells her he’s spending time trying to find a cure for her. Griffin announces to Ross and Blake that he’s been promoted/elected to district judge and later is revealed to be the presiding judge over Abby’s trial. Holly tells Ross that Fletcher wants to move away and take Meg to a better school in Chicago or Toronto, hmm. While they’re talking, Kevin falls from a chair and sprains his arm. Rick is upset to hear what happened when he’s brought into the hospital, but he treats him. Rick then has a cute little chat with just Kevin in the hospital room where he does a hilarious impersonation of both Billy and Phillip. O’Leary is really funny, you can tell - reminds me of Michael E. Knight. Reva/Blake/Abby/Jenna/Harley all work together to get information on Ben to bring him down. He walks in on them scheming and reveals how much he knows about all of their pasts. This is probably one of the few times I’m actually enjoying Ben because he’s able to shut the ladies down in a dark, flirtatious way which is kind of sexy and intriguing. Later that night, Blake goes to Ben’s place and pretends to cave to his ultimatum and seduces him. I have to admit, this whole thing was pretty sexy and Ben flirtatiously warns her not to start something she can’t finish. She gets him to close his eyes and she handcuffs him to his couch. After more banter, she takes a knife to his neck, but ultimately she stops herself. As she walks by, he grabs her into a kiss. She then bashes his head with a vase and he goes unconscious. She freaks out, thinking she’s killed him. She calls Rick and tells him what happened, but Ben wakes up while they’re on the phone and he continues to flirt with Blake about their situation. Rick then tells her what happened with Kevin so she throws Ben the keys to the handcuffs and rushes out to be with Kevin/Ross, who just got discharged. She accidentally left her bracelet and Ben now has it, which Blake has realized. Finally, Matt finds Dinah and says if she ever does what she did on NYE again, he’ll spend his entire life making her regret it. Good job, Matt! But Dinah tries to turn the tables on him and exclaims that he liked it. Otherwise, he would have told Vanessa about what happened, and he hasn’t. He gets more upset. As Dinah gets into her car in the parking garage, she see Hart and Cassie leaving their date at the Towers. They’re holding each other and eventually kiss and then Hart leaves. Dinah starts her car, slams the pedal and drives right towards Cassie! Great cliffhanger. She eventually slams the breaks just before she hits Cassie and Cassie jumps away to the ground. Dinah pretends like she didn’t see her, but Cassie doesn’t believe it and tries forcing her to accept the truth that she’s with Hart now. Great catfight which includes Cassie beating Dinah’s car with a random tire iron. Matt breaks them up and tells Dinah she really needs some soul searching, and she breaks down alone in the garage. Later, Hart confronts Dinah about the incident and they have a huge fight and Dinah says she’ll make Hart/Cassie’s lives a living hell going forward. Hart then surprises Cassie by buying them the dive bar they met in. Phillip wants Harley to live with him and it takes her zero seconds to say yes LOL, while Beth calls AC Mallet (off camera) telling him she’s worried about Harley and her well-being. Mallet says he can’t be bothered, but Beth pleads while Phillip overhears from the other room. He then tells her they’ll never get back together and the only reason they are connected is Lizzie. Lizzie overhears this and runs away from the mansion. Everyone starts looking for her and then we see Lizzie fall into a deep well. Harley finds and saves her the next episode, so this was a nothingburger, but probably will bring Phillip/Harley even closer. Annie goes to Lewis Oil and hands out wedding invitations to Reva/Josh/Billy/Cassie/Hart and asks if Tammy could be her flower girl LOL. They all tell her to F off, but she then announces she’s the newest board member of Lewis Oil LOL. Reva is determined to find more dirt on Annie to get rid of her, so she finds a man (Eddie Banks) from her prior life in Chicago. He tells her that Annie is dead because she committed suicide, and he took the blame for a crime she committed that caused him to go to jail. Reva convinces Eddie that Annie is still alive and wreaking havoc on her life. Eddie then tells her a secret about Annie (that viewers don’t get to hear) that Reva says will finally end Annie once and for all. She later tells Josh/Cassie/Billy (but we don’t see what it is), and they all agree to go to Annie/Alan’s wedding so they can reveal the secret to as many witnesses as possible. Oh boy! Dinah ends up overhearing them gloat about it at the end, and now she’s suspicious that something will happen at the wedding. Matt/Vanessa have a sonogram and find out they’re having a girl, which they’re both excited about. They decide to name her Maureen, awww. Sadly, soon after, Dr. Sedgewick tells them that there is a recurrence of her disease. So they either need to terminate the pregnancy or Vanessa might die. They look into perhaps inducing the baby early since premature babies often survive. Vanessa is ultimately determined to carry the baby to term, even if she has to die. Matt then threatens to take Vanessa to court to force her to have the baby now so she could be saved (yikes, but I get it). Vanessa of course flips out. Abby and Ross prepare for trial and Abby tells Ross about Roy mouthing to her that she’s going to die. She assumed he vocalized it and everyone heard, but Ross tells her that he must have mouthed it and only she saw. They think back to Dinah filming the trial and losing the tape and now wonder how they can find it. Meanwhile, Jesse finds the tape that he took from that day, so only a matter of time before Ross/Abby find it.

Super helpful, thank you! Thanks for posting! I can't tell if she's annoyed with the interviewer or not, it was a bit cringe LOL, but I love her zest for playing Erica Kane, as always. This is very promising! They need to release them for us. Hopefully the master tapes are still around though as it sounds like he confirmed that years ago when he was working there at the time. I also need to join the AMC Facebook group - didn't realize they had one
