  1. With all the time he spends being shocked with the stalkers message board posts while burning Adrienne’s lasagna and lusting after Stephanie’s blandness, all while Papa Steve is in the next room searching the dark web….I cannot even imagine. If the stuck up little bitch was doing that though I might just change my mind 😂 😂 Hell, it would probably be the most exciting thing to happen in years.
  2. Catching up on this week's Days. I will from here on out be referring to Alex as the "stuck up little bitch"! I really wonder if the show knows there is a pretty large section of the Days viewing audience rooting for the stalker. Like please take this snooze fest of a couple out!
  3. I've caught up for the week. It's been nice not having EJ around, if only this could be a permanent occurrence! I actually enjoyed a lot this week. Minus the coldness between Deidre and Suzanne, I enjoyed the book club scenes. I think it makes sense Marlena isn't ready to face her grief yet. I've been thinking for months it would be nice to have Marlena in scenes with Maggie and Julie discussing losing their husbands, considering it has happened to them in rapid succession. In terms of the beef between Hall and Rogers, I think it was actually pretty tepid this week compared to the last few years. I remember the scenes after the Horton house fire last year, Deidre looked so annoyed throughout that whole sequence of scenes with Suzanne, she didn't even try and hide it. It really is such a shame. Julie, Maggie and Marlena have been on screen together for half a century, they should be in scenes together regularly and sharing stories. The one thing that I noticed this week, probably more than before is how low stakes this whole show is. Both the custody battle and this stalker story for example is just scene after scene of people talking ad nauseam about these things, but there is little action involved. The show built this brand new courtroom set last summer, they should of trotted it out and had a real custody battle between Chad and J&J. This could have been a huge story for the Horton family, and the 60th anniversary. During that mediation, when Chad brought up Jennifer's addiction, I literally said out loud, what isn't Chad bringing up Jack raping Kayla? Why isn't J&J bringing up Stefano and EJ? Chad literally is the last person to call out any horrible behaviour with in his own family lately, why wasn't that brought up? I just kept imagining the scenes we could have gotten of this going on in court. Imagine having Horton's and DiMera's testifying on the witness stand, and all their dirty laundry being aired out. The same with this stalker story. We get scene after scene of Stephanie and Alex in that apartment now with Steve, talking about how dangerous this stalker is. What has the stalker done that is dangerous? Posted disturbing messages about Stephanie. Do any of these writers read social media. People post vile and disgusting comments all the time about celebrities, it doesn't mean they need police protection and criminal investigations. This stalker should have been doing horrible things, not just posting messages about it. Literally the worst thing that has happened at this point is Alex has huffed some powder sugar, and Stephanie and Alex had to go stand in the HTS for 5 minutes, not exactly the type of material that leaves you on the edge of your seat. My advice to these writers is amp up the stakes here. Less talk and more action. I know the budget makes it hard to write a lot of things, but be creative. It's not really that hard, Chat GPT could probably help lol
  4. Interesting. I assume her scenes will be with Rafe as he mentioned this week going to see Vivian. She seems to be at the point where she returns once a year, which is totally fine with me because I love Vivian and Louise so much! I saw a video a few months back on YT, someone accosted Louise in a airport (she was a great sport about it), it seemed to be from last spring, and she mentioned that Ivan would be returning at some point without her, I assume she wasn't available at the time. I wonder if this means we'll be seeing Stefan soon as well?
  5. I am not sure how long, maybe @JAS0N47 may have a better answer, but the show was extremely popular. I remember seeing TV ratings from SA in the late 2000s early 2010s and the show was one of the top “Soapies”, ranking high up amongst the original SA soaps, which are some of the highest rated programs in the country. I think it had a later time slot on TV, so it must of had a lot of young people watching. I believe part of the reason it was cancelled was because of government mandates for more local programming. From what I saw from a Google search that reason got it cancelled a few times as it bounced around channels until 2022. I wonder if the show streams there now?
  6. I haven't watched today's Days yet...but did they actually have that little girl eat a piece of paper? 😳 WTF
  7. I am not saddened by this as I feel like these characters should have gone with RC. But, with this probably being done more to save money and not to make changes on screen, I can see why this is disheartening to some. These characters should have been written as the next generation of Days, but sadly they received horrible writing, and I personally can't see a path moving forward where they work at all on screen at this point. All four actors are good, and I am sure they could work anywhere else, wonder if Y&R will pick any of them up? They already hired a few Days cast offs. I hope there are more cuts. The cast is too big, and filled with characters who are well past their expiration date. It would be interesting if Days was doing this to bring back vets. Bo and Hope maybe. It probably is budget directed though. It does sound like the budget is slashed with each renewal they receive, they have to save money somewhere, and having 30 something cast members, even with small episode guarantees must be tough on a shrinking budget.
  8. Train 48 was a very interesting concept. It was based off an Australian series. The whole show took place on a huge train set. You never see the cast off the train, until the last episode, when it shows them all exiting, symbolic I guess. It aired 4 nights a week, then cut back to 2 nights I believe in its final months. I watched pretty regularly for a year. It definitely drew a lot of its plots from the more humorous side of life. A lot of the actors were from improve groups around Toronto. The whole series is available on YouTube I believe.
  9. Not sure if this had been posted, but all 65 episodes of the early 90s drama/soap Fifteen is streaming free on CTV's throwback section of their website. https://www.ctv.ca/shows/fifteen It stars a very young Ryan Reynolds. The show definitely gives off Saved by the Bell vibes, mostly because of the look and era. It's also comparable to Degressi as well, though it leans more to innocent after school special lol
  10. So delicious! Kay and Jill on Y&R are definitely one of the greatest. Both Brenda Dickson and Jess Walton brought fire opposite Jeanne Cooper! I would add Marlena and Kristen from Days on any list....pre Carlivati that is. One of the biggest sins of the previous writing regimes was taming their relationship. I will forever say Eileen Davidson was one of Deidre Hall's greatest screen partners. The scenes right before Kristen locks Marlena in the secret room where she confronts Kristen about Susan and her pregnancy lies literally are some of my favourite Days scenes ever! Love LOVE them.
  11. I've seen that brought up by others in the past in various social media places. Never confirmed officially. I believe someone claimed they spoke to a person who works at CBS/Paramount or whoever owned the catalogue before them and they confirmed it. I think at some point also it was listed on some official website as available for syndication, along with the other Bing Crosby Productions, but that could of been an error. Honestly, it would make sense. I feel like these smaller less known production companies were more likely to pay to preserve their programs, like Dan Curtis Productions or Colgate-Palmolive. I would imagine though if somehow it did exist, it was probably saved on the same reels The Doctors were saved on, and from what Retro TV said it was a HUGE process to digitize those episodes for rebroadcasting. They could only do a few a day, and sadly the longer the reels sit, the more damaged they become, so it's kind of a race against time to save them. Apparently there is only one person in the whole United States who can fix any damaged reels, and again they claim that takes forever. It would be fantastic if it were true though, and they somehow were re-aired some day! Would be a great day for classic soap fans!
  12. That 1979 episode of Days is amazing. I want more! Amanda and Chris! I really enjoyed the Stephanie and Mary scenes. I am so intrigued to see more of the Trish and Margo scenes surrounding the diamonds. The Mike and Margo scenes were great. Margo’s jealousy of Trish was wonderfully acted. Mike and Margo seemed to have such a conflict filled marriage. Never time to stop and breathe, they were always worried about something. Money, Trish or Margo’s health. Never a truly happy moment lol
  13. Thanks for the tag!!! OMG! Brand new 70s Days and AW!!! Merry Christmas to us!
  14. It is very strange. They have insisted on having 30+ contract players for years now. If they had less cast, they could up everyone's episode guarantees, balance the cast out more. Like 20-25 would be perfect. Have everyone else recur. If you look back at the history of the show, especially in the 1970s and in the 2010s, whenever the show was at it's most successful, it had smaller casts. Audience relate to the characters more, because they see more of them. In 2009 and 2013, the show had arguable it's most successful periods since the early 2000s (ratings wise that is). They had smaller casts and focused on 3 or 4 stories the whole year. That's what they should be doing at this point. Have a few umbrella stories, that last the whole year, and involve the whole cast. But again, before that, fix who we see on screen cause.....😬
  15. Right?! It's so wild to me. It almost seems like they are afraid to fire people, or just blind to the understimulating. RAFE, Cat, EJ, Johnny, Chanel, Stephanie, Alex, Leo, Javi, Tate, Holly and did I say RAFE. They should have all been shipped out the second the former head writer was given the boot. Most of these characters were front and center in some of the worst writing this show has ever had. Why would the show runners think the audience would want to continue seeing them? A lot existed before RC of course, but honestly the writing they received was equally horrid. Just imagine in 2006 when they fired JER if they had immediately brought back Alex North and Stan/Sami and put them in front burner stories. This is kinda where we are at currently I feel. We need different characters. New couples. There are so many others who could be on screen right now. Paul, Andrew, Mike, Chloe, countless other Brady and Hortons. Bring back the Alamain family as a new villainy family. Bring anyone back at this point really lol It just doesn't make sense why were stuck with this bunch of duds.
  16. I've really been struggling with some stories lately. Especially the couples we're suppose to be rooting for. I feel the overall tone of the show is so much better than a year ago. We have more focus on Salem as a community with family and relationships focused more, it's just this cast of characters....a lot of them just don't gel together. Stephanie and Alex are dreadful, Chanel and Johnny are boring, Holly and Tate ditto. EJ being the major focus in so many stories is such a mistake, and the character needs a long break, preferably off screen. I think the whole missing piece of this BTS change has been not unloading a lot of these characters. I really feel they were damaged beyond repair by the last writer and no amount of change in story will make them interesting. At least 10 or 12 characters could have easily left this spring, and it would have really helped things on screen. The actors are all very talented and do their best, but no talent could make what's wrong with this group of characters right. We need new villians. The DiMera's are no longer viable for me. Once we lost Joe Mascolo, that should have been the end of this family. For me, Joe and Eileen Davidson are the only two actors who could make the DiMera's work on screen, especially by the 2010s. Without them why bother. I've grown to like Xander, and could see him take Victor's place, but this whole Sarah mess has been boring. While I enjoy the actors together, I just think it comes off as silly. We don't need to see Xander in counselling to tame his character. If they can't write the character of Sarah to except him as he is, let that be the end of them. Give Xander a Vivian or Kate type character to be with. Someone ruthless with flaws. I actually enjoyed Xander and Gwen together at points in the past. Perhaps Gwen could take that place, with the right story. I am happy to have Jeremy and Theo back. I like the actors, I just wish they were in better stories. I also like when Arianna is on screen, she needs her own story, not just random scenes with Holly and Gabi. I have enjoyed the Rachel story as of late. I've grown to like Sophia as well. I hope she goes totally psycho at some point, and stays that way. We don't need her reformed running around in some boring romance, with Tate and Holly whispering about her when they spot her in the Brady Pub or Horton Town Square. I wish we could see more of Jada as well. I enjoyed what I saw of her and Shawn. A Jeremy/Shawn/Belle/Jada triangle could be interesting. I was disappointed Jada and Jeremy didn't go further. I understand the way Jeremy treated Stephanie was awful, but Ben Weston murdered multiple people and the whole Horton family love him. EJ did despicable and horrible things to Sami, Belle and Marlena had no problem with him at one point, same with the rest of his family. I am not sure where the writers are going with this Jeremy story, but I really hope they don't sacrifice his character in the name of Alex and Stephanie, who I feel at this point are in the running for the most fast forward worthy couple in the 60 year history of this show. Hoping for less of them and the DiMera's in 2026, though I am sure that's a long shot lol
  17. It seemed a lot of characters weaved in and out of the canvas in the mid to late 70s for sure. Greg and Amanda defiantly being that case. I think Greg and Amanda left in 1978 to move to Chicago, Greg had to practically drag Amanda kicking and screaming from Salem if I recall correctly. In 1979, Amanda returns alone, moves in with Doug for awhile as she contemplates divorcing Greg. Greg bounces back and forth from Chicago trying to save his marriage. Amanda has a few romances, I think Chris Kositchek being one of them. Amanda and Greg both returned to Chicago at the end of 1979, whether they are still married, I don't remember. I think Greg returns briefly the next year, but exited quickly after. And we never heard of either of them again. I so wish we could see that whole period of Days! Mary Frann was such a unique actress. One of the most beautiful in the history of soaps in my opinion.
  18. I was thinking that, in fact I feel like I’ve read comments from fans that say thats what happened. The Doctors did that when Althea was accidentally pushed through a window during the same time period. The stunt didn’t look great, but slowing it down made it more dramatic for sure. It’s crazy to see stunts from 60s and 70s soaps (and TV in general), I am sure for fans at the time it was shocking, but it all looks so cheesy seeing it now. The only soap stunt from the 70s that really shocked me while watching was when Julie caught fire from a stove explosion on Days. So chilling and realistic.
  19. Looks like Wes is playing the person Steve grabs when he says “where is my daughter” at about the 1:52 mark. I assume that’s Owen Kent, Stephanie’s former tormentor/stalker.
  20. Interesting, I spot Peter Porte (Dimitri) and I think Wes Ramsey (Owen). I had a feeling Owen was behind all the Stephanie stuff, especially after the random mention of Stephanie being kidnapped and held in a morgue awhile back. I think we got our first preview of a returned Peter Blake in that hospital bed. Wonder who the bone belongs to….it upset Kristen whoever it is. I knew Sophia was faking lol wonder what mischief she and Rachel will get up to. Glad Rachel is getting help, she’s been borderline psycho for a while now. Looks exciting, not necessarily the characters I would prefer to see on screen, but it peaked my interest for sure.
  21. Is Missy Reeves involved with this story? I always got the vibes, as long as she was playing Jennifer, Peter couldn't be brought up in dialogue let alone return on screen 🤣 🤣
  22. Wow, what a treat! Thanks for sharing. I always wondered if she drew inspiration from the jingles the clown story to. Definitely some parallels there. Henry Slaser took over head writing Somerset from Robert Cenedella, who was co-head writer with Jacker at AW in the beginning of 82, perhaps a suggestion from him.
  23. RIP to a legend. As you said, that character truly gave life to AW in one of its worst periods. 1982 was such an inconsistent year, in a way it was AW trying to chart a new path after its golden period ended so horribly. Franz’s portrayal of Alma was horrifying and memorable. I would say many long time fans would have counted her as one of the shows most memorable characters. In honour of Franz, here is Alma’s “last stand”.
  24. Some Days cast appeared on tonight’s Jeopardy episode. They introduced questions in the category “Historic Days of our Lives”, each question was tied into an event in Days history, nice little promotion for the show.
  25. Who’s all confirmed to return? I know, Sami, Eric, Will, Lucas, Mike and Marie. I think I also read that Steven Olson is back to. Obviously Jack and Jennifer who have been back this fall, has there been confirmation of anyone else?
