Ron has been plotting that way since his and Frank Valentini's budget-conscious storytelling methods at OLTL and GH that plotted and scheduled according to guarantees. Sometimes it worked. Later on, at both shows, it didn't.

If he tries to run while on trial (and I'm still not convinced he will) it will be the shitshow of our times, and that's saying something. You'd get to watch a GOP general campaign implode in record time in a way that I can safely say has never happened. And I don't think either the GOP or the media has adequately begun to admit to themselves just how intensely toxic he is to the general public, how he has shed more voters each cycle, and how yes, all of this is having and has had an impact. There are several reasons the media has clung to DeSantis, to Youngkin, etc. for the next cycle, but they are easily dazzled by the live shot, and still not prepared for just how colossally doomed Trump is as a candidate if he tries to run IMO. A lot of this is understandable, but @Darn and I were just saying the show now has a major youth traffic jam due to too many fuckin' kids and not enough care taken in recent years. I lost my mind to realize Aiden is now almost a teenager with teens Rocco, Danny, stupid-ass Charlotte, Jake, etc. and they're all banging up against the current frontburner youth set. Not to mention 5-6 kids just born or rising in age by the day (Donna, etc).

It's not a question of a select group of viewer opinions about whether CBS is liberal or conservative enough. Their opinions aren't what's relevant. What's relevant is CBS staff testimonial and media study over the policy skew at the network over the last decade or two. You can look that stuff up yourself, it's all well-documented. I don't know why I was under the impression Labine's first week was in late August. I know she's said her first week had Karen throwing Sonny's drugs back in his face, but I don't know when exactly that was. That's def the vibe I got in rewatching material recently, and they had serious chemistry.

It's not an assumption, it's been widely reported on media watchdog sites for years. A random poll saying what 'audiences feel' is not relevant to that.

Oh, that part was disgusting. I think at the initial time, bringing the OLTL stars on was a wise gimmick to get more eyes on the show given the heat OLTL had even while going off the air. Everyone knew it was a disservice that the show got canned. Spinning the entire canvas around them or contorting existing GH characters for them (Carly would never have sided with Todd against Jason after discovering he'd stolen Jason's child) is what made it go south, but I thought they mostly worked in specific roles. It was bringing them back as completely different people that totally jumped the shark IMO, even if it gave us Ava.

I think a lot of Ron's ideas (at many shows) are often good on paper. The problem is execution, taste and often pacing and/or budget. I think sci-fi and adventure at GH was absolutely in his wheelhouse, and I believe he dearly loves the show and the genre. I was among his very first boosters at OLTL, well before Daytime Confidential*, because I could tell from the first day he took over that the show had changed for the better. (I actually got banned from old Llanview Online for being 'too positive' about the show in the fall of 2007!) But I think RC's ego, his taste and his belief in himself (puffed up by the online scene) that he is the last king of all daytime have atrophied a lot of his skills. You can love something as much as you want, but if your only view of how to create it or build it becomes super-tacky or devolves into lazy camp every time, that's the issue. And that's how it's been for Ron for a long time now. (* - I'll just mention again that it took Jamey Giddens years to admit he'd never really paid attention much to OLTL before Ron took over, and only started watching in 2004. That always cracked me up.)
