  1. I'll third this. Fortunately in these years and I'd argue in the '90s, they seemed to manage to thread the needle fairly well between the grandiosity of the Dallas-mandated Buchanans and the show's original streetwise core of outsiders and troubled people. Was it sometimes an awkward fit, sure, but in what I've seen of these early years (and a lot has fortunately become available in the last decade) they managed to have characters like Asa, Bo, Karen, Marco, Edwina, Jenny, Katrina, etc. coexist fairly successfully side by side. In part because the more ground-level or troubled characters would puncture and contrast the Buchanan dynasty (as it did again in the '90s IMO). That and the talent present in the core Buchanan clan is why I can't begrudge them.
  2. Yep. The extended version on the long end credits on Paramount is especially good.
  3. Thanks! I have seen the Asa Rap before and it is a sight to behold.
  4. "The You-Nigh-Ted Stayttesss of Am-Nee-Sheeya!"
  5. The only one I could immediately find offhand is one of Maggie posing as Pat and she doesn't seem to let the mask slip. I too am fairly sure there are others but I can't dig 'em up right now. Anyway, this is a topic for the OLTL thread.
  6. I believe there is some floating around, possibly also in Mitch S's recent uploads. I couldn't be sure of which.
  7. I agree LOV/TC richly deserve a joint oral history. I don't remember the note about Ava returning - I thought they had just planned to add her (and Alex's?) kids. I would've welcomed her.
  8. What's darkly hilarious to me is that when Jill jumped to OLTL she brought Satra with her, and her character was again immediately raped. This time though they couldn't put the role over and she was gone within a year. (I don't know if the Barbara Graham character was intended to last longer, but I suspect so initially.) IIRC she also did a brief fill-in as Felicia on GH during JFP's time there. But I can't find any evidence of that so I may be hallucinating, or just mixing up the Sandra Ferguson recast.
  9. If it ever happens I'll eat my hat. But yes, that too.
  10. My suspicion remains that they thought Maurice played it too nice, but you're possibly onto something similar too. I remember being surprised at how charming MJ's Ted was considering the casting notice for Dr. Ted instantly made me think serial killer lol. But I guess that's part of the point of the character having a dark side/secret, provided they're not too diametrically opposed.
  11. We don't need to just post 'oh?'. We really don't. Anyway, like others I have no faith in anything changing at DAYS. Call me when they bring someone in from outside.
  12. Dude has been warning 'this show/actor better bring it!!' since early last year when he realized P&G was not accepting unsolicited creative submissions. He just repeats the same 'warnings' over and over. Vanguard Accounts #1-3 don't actually care about Johnson so much as concern tr0lling every aspect of BTG because it is not his soap and never will be. Next month he will have some other Very Serious Concerns.
  13. Plus, this show is barely 25 episodes old lol. Anything playing out with Dr. Ted now was clearly planned from the beginning regardless of the actor. Sorry that Tr0ll Account #3 didn't get the show bible or any creative input whatsoever. Don't call them, they (won't) call you.
  14. Jacquie Courtney has consistently been underrated by a generation of two (or more) of fans who for years only had access to her via Harding Lemay's memoir. It's nice to be able to see her in the last couple decades and for me at least, she was consistently very, very good. I'm sad she's gone and we never got to see her on a soap again in one of her old roles, or a new one.
  15. Hawthorne Sr. really does look (and sound) exactly like Overton lmao. I don't mind the senior Duprees being very famous. I do find it silly when they just keep sitting around and talking about it. I'd rather see it manifest in plot and new characters. They've done everything but have a breakfast talking about Vernon being the first Black man in space.
  16. IIRC Stephen Smith is a big fan of the show. That's fine, I don't begrudge him appearing, but I don't need his appearances to be some serious dramatic role.
  17. We all know what this means on soaps: Time for Dani to adopt a streetwise white child and deliver them from poverty!
  18. That's even crazier than the apparent period report that OLTL almost recast Gabrielle with Eileen Davidson around the same time.
