GH: April 2025 Discussion Thread
Strongly agree. This interrupted the last couple of episodes which were strong. I got caught up so I could actually watch and read all the comments same day but this ep kind of wasn't worth it? First of all I thought they were going to finally acknowledge Monica's death. This whole episode about her being honored and not being around to see it was kind of unsettling, especially after all the recent focus on the Quartermaine crypt. I honestly found Emma's speech the other day about what Edward and Alan meant to her to be far more moving because it was organic to the story, and nu Emma needs to be nominated for whatever that new Emmy award is for newcomers. Today's ep felt like a series of random vignettes. It's really beyond the pale. And even worse was Lucky handwaving it away because Kristina is his work buddy. Guessing that will change now that it turned out to be his precious Elizabeth in the car. He used to be a cop! Kristina needs to go to jail, not an institution. I can't wait for Molly's righteous anger when this comes out. How could Kristina do this to Alexis!?

Ashley starring in a documentary... come ON... too contrived. I had to LOL at her, Dani, and Andre all together, and Andre (in my interpretation) being hung up on Ashley but lying to Dani that he's so frustrated he can't just jump her in the middle of the hospital. Naomi taking her clients back to Crimson Lights... uh, Orphy Jean's, a potential jump the shark moment. Too bad because the rest of the scenes in this storyline were fire. Bill's subtle intimidation and pseudo nice guy routine was very slick. Dani made it sound like Ashley and Naomi have been friends since they were young... a little confusing if Ashley is starting her first job while Naomi is 30 and has her own law firm... maybe this is a second career for Ashley. Ok, that was the first time I enjoyed Dani.... good dynamic with her jumping all over Chelsea's thing that's supposed to be her own and asserting her independence, but Kat actually thinking it's not a bad idea... very manic energy from Dani and I loved Chelsea tuning her ass out. Dani seemed genuinely excited and trying to be helpful and she just didn't get it. Tomas is a jerk to ask Kat to interfere with Naomi, and that fantasy was ridiculous. Good girl Eva, deny everything... but you know... just by putting that camera there once, now she knows better than to try anything in that office, so Kat actually did something smart. Vanessa and Joey have real chemistry... I might be one of the few who doesn't love Lauren B's acting, but it visibly improved alongside an experienced vet. Am I the only one who thinks his mother is long dead, haha.

The writing will be bad regardless, so personally I'll take the remote! It's a big deal that any soap is doing international remotes in 2025.

BTG: March 2025 Discussion Thread
I can see both sides of this. You don't need as much recapping because that makes the show boring and you want people to be engaged and binge (or you are like Y&R, and you simply have no sets or writers, so the entire show is recapping things that happen offscreen). On the other hand, people have lower attention spans now and 5 hours a week is a big commitment, so it's not safe to assume the binge watchers are actively engaged, and you do need to repeat important points. I'm often scrolling the internet while watching (especially with Y&R and B&B, but I try to pay more attention during BTG) and I get annoyed when there's one important point in one line of dialogue and I miss it. BTG is doing a pretty good job balancing this right now. This might be related to the music discussion too, because the music can be a cue to the audience to pay attention that something important is coming, lol.

Right now I'm able to get to the Vault, but if I try to download I get an error that says The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments. Keep in mind this explanation from the Vault owner and simply wait and retry when it's not working:

I was happy they were more realistic with the number though. Ted and Nicole are doctors and she's from a wealthy family, but I can't see him being able to dole out millions or 100s of Ks without her noticing. And I liked that he noted he wasn't going to do it traceable though an app but then if he does cash it would be suspicious to withdraw that much at once. That's so much better than Y&R having Phyllis sit at the coffee shop and push a few buttons and be like "oh I just hacked into the computer and transferred millions into your account."

BTG: First-ever role recast!
Doug Davidson and Kin Shriner are known for this too. But I must say I've never heard of an actor soliciting fans via DM. That to me is a step beyond making statements in the press or social media encouraging the fans to reach out. I liked this Ted, but that's kind of tacky. Plus this isn't about an actor being dropped to recurring. He's been replaced, so he's essentially asking the fans to try to get the other actor fired.

How are they going to say this was in "honor" of Women's History month, LMAO. A show about "mothers and daughters" but with the same BS as every day, one set of harpies cackling and the other set being utterly pathetic. The same slop all centered around Ridge except at least we were spared seeing him in the episode. Hope's speech was fire and she was spitting absolute truth at loser Brooke so of course they had to undo that and have her weeping at the end. Give Annika the damn Emmy! Heather Tom's acting was on point but it felt incredibly indulgent and unnecessary inserting herself into that scene. It was like, let's give the voice of reason Katie (at least as she sees herself!) also castigate Hope just to make sure the audience understands Hope is soooo evil! Hope should have been like "b!tch you're just jealous I had your man!" I wanted Hope to walk out and tell Brooke she was moving out with her kids and she'll see her again when she gets over Ridge. Can Ridge's decision PLEASE be final and he and Taylor ride off into the sunset?

I was also surprised because I was assuming this was something that happened when he was much younger and they successfully hid it when he ran for office. But today they made it clear he was already in Congress. If that had already been established I missed it. I'm not sure on the timeline because to me he looks so young that he should only be in his first or second term but they have him running for president which makes him a decade older. Still I feel like him already being a Congressman when this thing happened is a big deal because it means he wasn't some naive young person.

Today was really strong, especially for an episode without my favorites (Silk Press, Eva, and Nicole). My heart broke for Bill at the end. He really thought she was reacting to his text, and she played that beat well. I'm glad they have kept him grey and given him humanity because it would have been so easy to turn him into a cartoon. There's a lot to mine because she obviously was inspired by him to go into her career, yet now Bill mentioned to Tomas that their falling out was BEFORE Hailey... I'm intrigued! I noticed Naomi told her clients she would name Bill "co-plaintiff." She obviously meant defendant. This is like when they said Martin was Senator Richardson, not Congressman. If you're going to set the show in DC and do these ripped from the headline stories, you can't make very basic mistakes like that. Can't believe no one caught it. I was glad to see in the last couple of episodes that Anita is longing for more because Vernon and Anita are starting to give Nikki and Victor, just holding court at the club or the living room all the time, never doing anything. Anita needs to be involved in some action. That said, those icy stares they gave Martin were fierce and Martin's acting has improved tremendously. I also liked that simplicity of the scene at the end where she said that went well and they sipped their coffee in unison. You can feel that they've been married for decades.
