  1. They are hinting that he feels subservient to his husband... in his establishing shot, he's carrying a laundry basket. It's a twist on the 60s and 70s soap wives who bemoaned the drudgery of homemaking and wanted careers.
  2. Today's episode was much better. Things are settling in! Great scene between Bill and Vernon. Makes you want to know more about Bill and Dani's marriage and of course the secrets that Bill holds. That look Anita gave Vernon when he said Bill seemed sincere, hah!
  3. I prefer reading all the posts in a thread before I comment, so I feel like I'm always going to play catchup. 😅 The good: Strong solid acting from Vernon, Anita, Nicole and Bill. Good script. Lots of little threads to pick up on. I didn't mind the exposition. I'm glad the show is rooted in normal storylines like affairs and class differences and shady dealings, and there weren't any big out of the blue moments meant to "shock." There was buildup to the slap and it made sense. It's just very old-fashioned classic soap. The bad: The directing. It's very clunky. There was a lot of "now I come out and say my line and then I look at the camera." Most of the newer actors are unnatural. And I have to include Mosley in that. On that late night show last week she was showing her soap opera tag face, and I couldn't help but notice her doing it a lot. "Ohh, look, this is a soap, and I just said something dramatic! Now I pause and give you a moment to gasp!" I loved the use of pop music in the opening, but the show could have used more background music to add some of the nuance and emotion to the dialogue that the newer actors aren't showing yet.
  4. In other words, a banging old school Friday cliffhanger!
  5. I'm all about Nicole over Dani. Obviously Anita. Dani's ex-husband intrigues me and has a good presence in the promos, especially that line about "you didn't make me, and your father didn't make me" (and yet, he still cares enough to want to bring his bride into their gated community and get married in the country club their grandfather founded, so there's just a lot there!).
  6. Perhaps this thread should be archived as the historical pre-BTG hype thread and a new BTG Behind the Scenes thread should be started? I respect the admins' decision whatever they decide of course.
  7. I'm enjoying these little crumbs! Now pondering if it will be more like using popular music or more generic (IMO) music like the opening credits. But the other soaps are generic... so that makes me hope the BTG music will be good!
  8. Wait I thought all you wrote was basically the subtext between Anita and her daughters, or did you edit? Even my spoiler free self was ok with that. Hah, I was watching the stream and noticed that! Go you!
  9. Vernon needs one too, because as much as they've made out of the Dupree name, they have no one to carry it on. The grandchildren are Hamiltons and Richardsons. Sort of reminds me of Dark Shadows' Carolyn emphasizing Carolyn Collins Stoddard when she need to demonstrate her importance.
  10. Sheila says something big will happen at the end of April.
  11. The girl group was called The Articulettes and is based on one Michele used to sing in!!!!
  12. Everyone looks great but I feel like they didn't take full opportunity to make this stand out.
  13. Probably has just a Tony and Grammy. 🤣 They both looked flawless during the interview.
  14. CBS morning shared a short teaser and it sounded like Nicole said Anita is an EGOT meaning she's won an Emmy Tony Oscar and Grammy. But she may have been using sarcasm. Anita asked about an award she's getting as there are so many it's hard to keep track and Nicole said something like ok Miss Egot.
  15. She's the one that intrigues me the most after Anita. I love her style and although I haven't seen her other work, her acting stood out to me in promos because it's subtle. I always go for the more grounded characters who crack later.
  16. I can see it becoming an offshoot of the guest actor category... Guest Actor would become an award given to daytime vets in some random short-term role (cough Eva La Rue) and Emerging Talent to Dick Van Dyke types, as long as they weren't on a soap back in the 70s, lol.
