I prefer reading all the posts in a thread before I comment, so I feel like I'm always going to play catchup. 😅 The good: Strong solid acting from Vernon, Anita, Nicole and Bill. Good script. Lots of little threads to pick up on. I didn't mind the exposition. I'm glad the show is rooted in normal storylines like affairs and class differences and shady dealings, and there weren't any big out of the blue moments meant to "shock." There was buildup to the slap and it made sense. It's just very old-fashioned classic soap. The bad: The directing. It's very clunky. There was a lot of "now I come out and say my line and then I look at the camera." Most of the newer actors are unnatural. And I have to include Mosley in that. On that late night show last week she was showing her soap opera tag face, and I couldn't help but notice her doing it a lot. "Ohh, look, this is a soap, and I just said something dramatic! Now I pause and give you a moment to gasp!" I loved the use of pop music in the opening, but the show could have used more background music to add some of the nuance and emotion to the dialogue that the newer actors aren't showing yet.

I'm all about Nicole over Dani. Obviously Anita. Dani's ex-husband intrigues me and has a good presence in the promos, especially that line about "you didn't make me, and your father didn't make me" (and yet, he still cares enough to want to bring his bride into their gated community and get married in the country club their grandfather founded, so there's just a lot there!).

CBS morning shared a short teaser and it sounded like Nicole said Anita is an EGOT meaning she's won an Emmy Tony Oscar and Grammy. But she may have been using sarcasm. Anita asked about an award she's getting as there are so many it's hard to keep track and Nicole said something like ok Miss Egot.

ARTICLE: The National Academy of Television & Sciences Announces New Daytime Emmy Awards Category: Emerging Talent
I can see it becoming an offshoot of the guest actor category... Guest Actor would become an award given to daytime vets in some random short-term role (cough Eva La Rue) and Emerging Talent to Dick Van Dyke types, as long as they weren't on a soap back in the 70s, lol.
