  1. Never forget, as we celebrate the 40th anniversary of Bo and Hope, that their age gap was so wide it gave OG Doug a heart attack.
  2. If he's younger, he is very precocious when it comes to loan sharking, prison, and poetry. I wonder if he is meant to be younger than Javi?
  3. I'm going to rationalize it with this bit of irony: in a world filled with facial transplants, computer brain chips, and prisms, drugs are the only crime an international spy hero cannot solve. (too ABC afterschool special?)
  4. Also, good to see that Hope has kept up Bo's fade for the past year. It must be tough to maintain a high and tight fade, when your client is in a coma.
  5. And Kayla could've checked in on him... I'm willing to dismiss the missing exposition (after this comment), but I was beginning to wonder if Bo's dream was how they all suddenly appeared in Salem.
  6. I appreciate the clarity. May I presume that indicates you shared my confusion?
  7. May I get a moment of recognition for waiting until now to mention the bizarre time/space continuum that brought Hope to and from Salem? Was that the result of Julie's wish? 🪄 I hope someone IRL holds an 8×10 photo of me like that some day. (that was some prime soapy action, and it looked a bit painful, Julie's not a young woman, and it takes some strength to hold a frame while maintaining an arm extension. 💪 Should we assume that the meth-heads are related to the loan-sharks that threatened Doug3 and Holly? Note: Zach, Holly, Belle, and Ceara's classmates turned out to be criminals - it's starting to make sense why so many families choose out of state boarding schools -- the Salem Public School System is sketchy.
  8. "Genius" might be hyperbolic, but I agree it is clever. 🥸
  9. I don't like it, but… Roman originally died falling off a cliff, while fighting Stefano. That's completely beyond the limits of today's production, but I think the Orpheus tangent paid homage to that idea. And, as we've discussed, it would be difficult to determine who John's ultimate mortal enemy would be, that is still alive. It is arguably not Orpheus, whose been more of a pain to Marlena. I object to it not happening off-screen. I can think of a dozen ways that Marlena could be watching a live stream, and we see it from her POV. Or, Shane has to tell the family that he died in the line of service. Or, Andrew has to tell the family that John died saving him, and he feels guilty. What I don't like is the tacky optics of watching not-John in danger, and presumedly watching people say goodbye to not-John. From the establishing shots, to the costuming, to this casting choice, it appears that DAYS has more problems with the visuals than the dialogue. All things being equal, that's not a terrible place to be. To @carolineg's point, I believe John would've at least texted his wife that he was back in Salem and home soon.
  10. His father, Sir William McMahon, served as the 20th Prime Minister of Australia from 1971 to 1972 EDIT: to add some very funny parts of his wiki McMahon has been described as one of Australia's worst prime ministers by Australian political scientists and historians, and after leaving office several of his former colleagues openly criticized his leadership style and personal character Throughout his life, there were also frequent rumors that he was homosexual. The suggestion was repeatedly denied by Lady McMahon; one occasion in the 1970s resulted in an infamous tabloid headline, "My Billy's No Poofter – Sonia Tells".
  11. Agreed, Gail was Monica's mentor, but they didn't have a legally binding relationship. For the record, Gail also had the tightest perm in daytime.
  12. At least she gets us all to agree on something. This is a tacky subject for her to continue to weigh in upon. It also demonstrates her bizarrely impulsive need to “inform” us with unverified gossip from social media that had already been debunked on this forum 17 hours earlier!
  13. I do not like today's cliffhanger.
  14. Michael being the surprise guest at the ball is such a drama queen move. Debuting your new face, in a tuxedo, at a televised ball, is giving Dynasty energy.
  15. I did some research because I had a similar question. (also, I don't want to poop on your joke which was amusing, but it sent me down a rabbit hole) A Reddit user who works at TeleVision City (where Y&R is filmed) estimated it takes 45 minutes to set up or reconstruct an already built set. However, according to union rules, it takes at least seven crew members (not counting lighting and sound installation). As always, the real cost is the labor, not the task. Y&R uses robotic cameras, so there is only a skeleton crew on set. Most of their crew budget goes to production assistants, who cannot move sets. So, they would need to hire a crew every time they wanted to put up or take down a set (for two days) as well as a lighting and sound design installation. Which is obviously very different from how production worked when money was more freely spent (and good for the unions for keeping the workplace safe). So, filming a single day in Lauren and Michael's living room could cost as much as they spend on two actors salaries for an entire year.
  16. I wonder if Xander will mention Sarah's history of mental illness in determining custody?🤔 I understand that she has the upper hand now, but if Philip refuses to name his assailant, that won't last for long. Although, it would be odd if two characters are complicit with their attackers. Yet, as Brady mentioned regarding the baseball bat incident from a few months ago, Xander has gotten away with a lot. It is almost like he is a billionaire who is above the law. I assume we're meant to hope Xander and Sarah get back together, but today showed that there are just as many reasons for them to stay apart.
  17. Stephanie looked really beautiful today. Her hair matched her dress and she looked stunning. As for Cat, now she's an art major? And she's taken a few too many kooky pills. I felt the Xander and Sarah interactions would've been improved greatly by just allowing them to talk for one long scene. I think Xander's whole demeanor began to be a distraction. Especially as it was prolonged from scene to scene. A slow burn would've been more entertaining. Also, it is difficult not to look at the two characters, him with slicked back, a sharp suit, and charming accent, and her with her ratty hair, baby voice, and jeans, and not think they seem ill-suited for each other. And that's only the superficial differences. Their morals, values, and coping skills are also diametrically opposed. Big kudos to the team for having a character soon return just as Sarah and Xander break up. It doesn't seem contrived, or too convenient. This was a long term secret, and I appreciate that it will have equally long-lasting consequences.
  18. Yes but, after Lucas, Lance, Leslie, Lorie, Bill Bell definitely had a “house code” when it came to character naming conventions.
  19. I'm left wondering how much access Lynda Hirsch had from her office in the Midwest? I assume people called her to leak information all the time. And she had press releases, interviews, and screener tapes. But her insight into the character of John Conboy made me question if she was an insider or just a yenta?
  20. I don't have to tell you, that he was their “big get” when it came to casting. He replaced John Travolta on Welcome Back Kotter and starred in the backdoor pilot for a guy spinoff of Charlie's Angels with Barbara Stanwyck. He was certainly more famous than the lead singer of one-hit-wonder Player. In the beginning, I always confused Dave and Thorn, as well as Ridge and Rocco, due to their similar hairstyles. Side note: You know The Colby's was bad if Barbara Stanwyck thought the writing was worse than the guy Charlie's Angels script -- Toni's Boys .
  21. No, you're totally correct, for whatever reason I was thinking of Cape Canaveral. Is the problem with being an EMT in Salem that nobody seems to drive, or use ambulances? I could've sworn they walked Philip over on a gurney from the hotel to the hospital. 😉 Is the writing staff trying to use coded messaging ? Javi was very specific that he wasn't fired for being gay, but he was harassed into quitting. I wish Johnny was going to work at the paper, I'd like him with Chad. I hope there's no foreshadowing in Tate and Shawn feeling queasy…
  22. I want SHELLE to be friends, like Belle is friends with Philip. It will always be awkward, but they've known each other since high school (24 years ago). And it has never worked out for them romantically. One assumes Shawn-D could've used a computer at home (or Black/Patch), to continue his investigation. So, why did he show up at the Pub after he lied to take PTO, and then lied directly to Jada's face about being sick? Unless, of course, it was just a totally inorganic, nonsense device to run into Belle. When is Johnny's first day of work? He got the offer, met about the offer, talked about the offer. When's he actually going into the office? And does he own a suit (other than the red devil one)? I liked that Chad had to rule out EJ for having Philip beaten because of what happened with Rex vis-à-vis Kate, that's a cool linkage, especially because I think everyone forgot to say goodbye to Rex. 2 Questions: Is it the next day, or do Sofia, lil'Rachel, and Ari share a birthday? Also, I missed it, how old is Ari? Did everyone skip prom? Because I thought Prom coincided with Sofia's birthday. And what was Javi's dream job in Florida?
  23. Nope, we had taste, even in the 90s, and the richest family in town throwing a wedding at an amusement park was never cool. But, isn't funny that they're all back in Florida, but nobody mentions this is where Reva went nuts and drove off a bridge. It seems like it might trigger some memories.
  24. My rationalization (for whatever its worth) is that I'll give a pass to a character who has both been recast and is now written by a different staff (again, I'm under the assumptive that we all know right from wrong). One doubts the current writers want EJ to be a rapist, Julie to be prejudice, Philip to have one leg, or Xander to be a kidnapper. But, that's what they inherited. These are characters that resonate with the demo. And, by soap justice standards, all evildoers receive justice, but doesn't always mean jail.
  25. Agreeing with your agreeing, and I bet that any urge toward violence against Sarah is what will cause Xander to try to redeem himself. Even though, as you mentioned the other day, I have enjoyed the buildup. It seems like everyone easily forgave Philip for stealing from Xander. And their defense was that Victor wanted his two sons to work together. Until, finally, Xander exploded and realized that Victor wanted what he wrote in his will, days before his death. If Philip had led an actual legal battle for the estate, then Xander might have capitulated. But, Philip made him look like a fool. Because Philip was too smug to simply ask Xander for what he thought he deserved. I was shocked/enthralled by how raw they allowed Xander to express his rage. I don't think that would have been allowed before streaming, yet they show people with guns weekly on GH. I also want to point out that there is still the inorganic nature that neither person in a fight can swear, that I always find distracting. noted for the contrarians, that is not a defense for violence -- I assume we are all of sound mind, and know right from wrong. - I also know it airs on network TV in other countries, so they still abide by network daytime standards. - blah blah blah
