  1. Labine ended being such an awful fit for this show, and I'm not 100% sure if it was because of Paul Rauch.
  2. Laura Wright has always played Carly like she was the most popular mean girl in high school. The grit from the character is completely gone.
  3. Somewhere Carly went from be anti-establishment to being the establishment. But anyway, Carly was only really a fleshed out character when Brown was in the role, and she was by far the best actress to play the role.
  4. Nothing is worse than the DAYS promos from the 80's when they hired a bunch of ABC actors and had them talking about making "the switch." I don't know if those promos are still on YouTube... None of those actors who made "the switch" lasted very long...
  5. Those summer 1997 CBS promos are still vivid in my mind. Like the Carly and Molly ATWT one, or the GL/Annie one where Cynthia Watros looks like she was having a ball. These '96 Phyllis/Y&R ones were also pretty good. It's hard to remember that Michelle Stafford once had a certain charisma and femme fatale mystique about her...
  6. Watching that, I have dreams of building my own ice cream empire!
  7. The Generations promos were better put together than the show itself...
  8. Who could forget the 'Try Me' campaign from the early 90's? LOL
  9. The 'Turn on the Light' promos from 1992 were great. Here are two focusing on Holly, Blake, and Ross.
  10. CBS had a great run during the Lucy Johnson era.
  11. A Star is Born is the product of severe payola and an obnoxious Oscar campaign from Warner Bros/Cooper/Gaga's respective camps. I have no sympathy for Cooper being let down by not having a Best Director nomination, especially for a story that's been told 3 TIMES ONSCREEN. Luckily Hollywood has seen right though all this and has not been awarding it, despite the bought for press in the Fall suggesting they would.
  12. An often overlooked piece in her massive singles catalogue, thought it was a massage hit for her in mid-1994. It spent 4 weeks at #2 on the Hot 100 (held off by All-4-One's sappy "I Swear" which spent 11 weeks at #1).
  13. Harry Reid was a nice kid, but he didn't have much range. I can see why they wanted to recast. I just hope they do more to explore Kathy and Ben's relationship, instead of going down that blackhole again that is his relationship with Phil.
  14. Rob Kazinsky is coming back as Sean Slater for a short stint this year: https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/eastenders/a25932862/eastenders-sean-slater-rob-kazinsky-return-shock/
  15. Exactly it, she and her team are so damn transparent.
  16. Gaga’s delusional fans have been attacking Glenn Close left and right on Twitter with some of the most absurd ageist trash. I really detest that segment of her fanbase. She subtly has encouraged a lot of that crap from her fans as well. I know it did well at the box office, but everything this award season screams payola from Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s respective camps for ASIB. Luckily it doesn’t appear to be working outside of the expected music categories...
  17. Glad a real actress like Glenn Close won the Golden Globe. I hope this is the year Queen Glenn finally wins that elusive Oscar.
  18. Yes, Tiffany is Ricky and Bianca's daughter and neither is on the show. Bianca will likely never return as Patsy Palmer seems over playing Bianca and now happily lives in Malibu. I do think Bernedette/Tiffany are one of the stronger points in the show and it's been allowed to developed gradually as opposed to over night. I'd prefer them remain as friends though, as I can't bear the thought of watching Tiffany turn into another Sonia - a lesbian only when it suits her. I really enjoyed the scene on Friday with Kat and Tiffany in the vic talking about love and when you find it - it's moments like that which soaps no longer bother to do. Kat's next chapter is potentially the most exciting thing about her. If they really make a strong attempt to move her on from Alfie and her sexual abuse from Harry, it would be a great start. She's a stronger character than Alfie and he brings her down. Jessie Wallace has been on fire this whole stint and the show is very lucky to have her back. It's been great watching Kat back in action working in the Vic recently, she really added some excitement to the place. I also see a really nice friendship developing with her and Linda - much more believable than the friendship Linda and Sharon have. I think it will be a while before they try to find her another man, but it would have to be someone totally opposite from Alfie. I also think Kat's at a stage where she can occupy a similar role to what Bet Lynch had for years on Corrie. Letitia Dean is on vacation, hence why Sharon isn't on and the one decent story she's had in years. Mel's return has a big failure, especially with today's news. She's been back for a year and has not been integrated with the rest of the show - she and her set are totally isolated and she has no other meaningful relationships. She just doesn't fit into this show anymore, and it will take a lot of work to make her happen again. I did hear Tamzin extended her contract a bit, so maybe it's to play out the aftermath of this story and she leaves. I won't miss her as this whole stint has been pointless as hell.
  19. I think a lot of GH's problems started with Riche/Guza - I can't blame JFP for revolving the show around Sonny, Jason, and Carly as that had started long before she arrived. Sure she didn't help it, but the show was going in that direction regardless.
  20. Courtney's butch haircut and wardrobe didn't help that 84-85 stint at all as well...
  21. Personally, I think Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper are buying these nominations. It would be a shame if Gaga won an Oscar over a real actress.
