  1. I think this was after the Old West storyline and right before Viki's 25th-year high school reunion. The reunion kicked off the story about Viki's missing daughter and ultimately led viewers to Eterna.
  2. AL premiered in June 1981. Its original opening credits were very similar to what we saw on SFT's revamped credits: birds flying over the ocean and an image of the sun. At that time, OLTL also had credits with images of birds flying in the sky and the sun. The quick shots AL opening premiered around episode 210, so sometime around March 1982. Eve was definitely around in July 1982 when Jackie died in the plane crash. There are scenes online of her with Maureen, Ross, and Justin in Justin's living room discussing Jackie's death. And Janet Grey's name appears in closing credits for an April 1983 episode where Rebecca and Mark fell off a cliff. Carolyn DeMoney Culliton, Richard Culliton, and Gary Tomlin were credited as head writers in that episode.
  3. Eve was definitely around longer. I started watching in April 1982 and she was still there. She was even around in June 1983 during Nola and Quint’s engagement party. I recall a scene with her and Phillip. The character vanished around that time. The comparison of GL to Another Life doesn’t make sense. AL premiered in 1981 and had opening credits similar to OLTL and what SFT had. Makes me wonder if GL has another opening planned but it was scrapped.
  4. It wasn't just ATWT. I recall a scene from Guiding Light in 1998 that featured Michelle Bauer at a school for the blind. From the way the scene was taped, viewers could clearly see the wood on the opposite side of the set. I was stunned that CBS let that air rather than re-taping the scene.
  5. What a great memory! Yes, someone had posted the plot summaries back in the early 2000s. It was an over-the-top story that ran for about four or five months and that featured a location shoot during the climax. One of the best parts of the story was the friendship between Ruby and Lurlene, especially as they tried to dispose of Beau Baker's mummified corpse.
  6. Another World's closing credits were separated during July 1980 to reflect the crew responsible for both shows. And this talk of the Texas characters makes me wonder who was responsible for introducing the Bellmans and Cookes on Another World. This was the period when Tom King was head writer. So did King create these characters or was it the Corringtons?
  7. Trent Dawson (ATWT, GH) is a radio employee in an episode of the third season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. The late Brian Tarantina (OLTL) also appears in a number of episodes.
  8. Same here. I had watched GL from 1982 to 1999 and it was the Santos clan and that island crap that drove me away for good.
  9. That’s right across the street from my office. Count’s photo is prominently displayed in ads outside the performing arts center.
  10. I recall AW establishing that Bay City was in Michigan in the early 80s. There was a shot of a map showing Bay City’s location and it was clearly Michigan. It was switched to Illinois around 1987. At that time, there was a scene where there was talk about seeing Chicago on the other side of the Bay.
  11. What seems to be missing here is whatever replaced Texas when it moved to 11:00 Eastern in April 1982. I believe it was repeats of CHiPS. Thanks for sharing this information. It's so informative and interesting to read.
  12. Reruns of primetime shows airing during daytime hours dates back to at least the 1950s. I believe they usually aired on the network that originally televised them. I remember watching The Brady Bunch in the mornings on ABC back in the seventies. I'm hoping the boards are safe now!
  13. Marguerite Hickey was the second Flame. Earlier, she had played the role of Allison MacKenzie’s daughter Megan in one of the Peyton Place movies.
  14. Also a writer here. I've written a play, a novel, and some murder mystery dinner plays. Have you considered a platform like Radish? It's an app where they serialize your work, and you receive payments. They're pretty quick with letting you know if they're interested in working with you. https://radishfiction.com
  15. What was she in post Search? I always felt she was miscast. She was actually front burner for quite some time but the Hogan/Liza pairing never clicked with her in the role. What’s ironic is that Sunny’s character was altered so that she was a spoiler in the Liza/Hogan romance. A year later, Liza became the spoiler in the Hogan/Patti romance.
  16. Interesting. That means it aired the day after the 35th anniversary episode.
  17. That doesn't sound right to me. It's more like September 1986. The Hendersons didn't arrive until sometime in September, I believe. That's right around the time the story with Matt McCleary started. If it was early May, Robert Reed would still have been around as Lloyd Kendall.
  18. Yep. She and her husband lead a church here in North Jersey. And she's a realtor these days, too.
  19. The odd thing is I was never a GH fan. I just have a good memory about useless trivia like this. I remember getting my hair cut in December 1983 and my stylist being stoked that Genie Francis was back on GH. As an Edge of Night fan, I wanted to talk about Edge, not Luke and Laura.
  20. It's a long time ago, but I believe the Entertainment Tonight story played up the popularity of the Beth/Lujack pairing and cited it for the increase in GL's ratings. As for Tony and Genie, they had already been gone from GH for about 6 to 7 months when GL overtook GH in the ratings. Genie returned at the end of 1983 to tie up the Luke/Laura story. I think they were gone by year's end.
  21. "Honeymoon on the Murder Express" was Sloane's work. I remember watching it live with my mom and nephew, who was so intrigued by the episode. He was five at the time.
  22. I liked some of Swajeski's work, but as others have pointed out, she really did not excel at wrapping up her stories. Great kernels of stories that had disappointing conclusions.
  23. Back before Lorna appeared, probably around 1990, there was talk about AW casting for the role of Bliss, a twenty something model who was rumored to be Felicia's long lost daughter. Clearly, Bliss was scrapped. It makes me wonder if Swajeski had no idea about who would turn out to be the daughter.
  24. It’s a long time ago but I want to say it was July 1984. Entertainment Tonight did a story about the ratings.
  25. I loved the early seasons, but really have to say that season 7 is my favorite. No spoilers but it's a riveting and touching season. I had to watch the finale twice. Supposedly, it was going to be the last season but they got a two-season pick-up.
